Enhancing students' autonomy in their study of English in a nonlinguistic university
The purpose of the project is to determine whether fostering learner autonomy in the context of ESP language acquisition in non-linguistic colleges is feasible. In 2018–19, the experiment was conducted at National Aviation University in Ukraine with two groups of electronics first-year students (experimental and control). In the same academic year, assessments of students' communicative English proficiency and surveys of their levels of learner autonomy growth were carried out in September and May, respectively. The experimental group was given unique learning conditions, whereas the control group did not get any additional instruction. Students were given the chance to select educational materials, create learning objectives, reflect on the learning process, and assess the learning outcomes in order to equip them to take ownership of their education. Both scaffolding and modern technologies were heavily utilized (if necessary). The experiment's findings indicated that only some of the most engaged students made use of the setup and developed their autonomy in learning. The decision was reached for developing such an environment. Development and mastery of soft skills among graduate students
The paper addresses content-related issues, a state-of-the-art assessment, and the key trends in the growth of soft skills. Soft skills should be emphasized in university curricula because they are currently necessary for having decent career possibilities. The article examines the findings of a study on the development of soft skills among postgraduate students at Alfred Nobel University in Dnipro, Ukraine who are majoring in professional education. These statistics demonstrate that postgraduate students are aware of the value of developing soft skills in order to have a successful career. Mathematical education at Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University: history, achievements, and future prospects
The study focuses on the advancement of mathematical education at Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University (KSPU). The research's goals and objectives include distinguishing and characterizing basic stages of formation and development of KSPU's mathematical education, informing about the current state of teaching, methodological, scientific, and research activity, and defining future prospects for developing the Department of Mathematics and Methods of its Teaching. The authors define stages of growing mathematical education at KSPU as eras of its 90-year development that are notable for distinct organizational and training techniques for Mathematics teachers. Teaching, research, and a life committed to people are factors that serve as the foundation for identifying basic stages in the growth of the Department of Mathematics. After analyzing information from the University archive, museum, and accessible personal data of Mathematics teachers - University teachers, graduates, and researchers - a special edition "Mathematical Education in Kryvyi Rih Pedagogical University: Personality Dimension" was issued to commemorate the Department of Mathematics' 90th anniversary. The information also includes their publications in the ORCID and Google Scholar databases, as well as the University repository. Assessment of school plant planning: A case of ICT schools’ SWOT analysis in the Funtua Metropolis
This research examines the existing ICT schools' effectiveness and the feasibility of planting a well-established, curriculum-based, and practical-oriented ICT school in Funtua through SWOT analysis. Descriptive research of the survey-type design was used in the study. The population for this study involved all the proprietors/proprietresses, students, and teachers of the existing 10 ICT/Computer schools. A random sampling method was adopted in selecting the samples targeted. The targeted population samples were 35 students, 15 teachers, and ten proprietors from 6 existing ICT/Computer Schools and prospective students (or residents) in Funtua Metropolis, Katsina State, Nigeria. A self-designed research instrument was used to collect data for the study. Data collected were subjected to analysis. The research questions suggesting the respondents’ opinions were evaluated via their mean and standard deviation. The responses/opinion mean less than 3.5 were rejected while others were accepted. The F-test method was used to test the null hypotheses. These findings reveal that the motives of people enrolling in ICT schools were to acquire knowledge and feel it is essential. The rating level of computer literacy was good, while the students’ performance in the existing schools was average. The residents’ level of Computer/ICT literacy was confirmed to be poor, and the performance of existing schools’ students was confirmed to be significantly low. The existing schools were confirmed not to be considerably attracting people. Instead, they discourage people from patronizing them for knowledge’s sake. It was confirmed that there is a significant chance that new schools would gain people’s attraction in the metropolis. Moreover, it was confirmed that there are no significant threats that a new school stands to confront in its process of planting and operation, which implies proprietors do not have much to worry about as a threat in the community
Design of the educational environment for the preparation of teachers
The notion of the educational environment, as well as its elements and structural characteristics, are examined in the article. The idea of designing an educational environment was presented. The technological, didactic, and social elements of the educational environment design for the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University (TNPU) teachers' professional training are outlined. The characteristics of this environment are taken into consideration, including information saturation and openness, digital change, social practices, and cooperation. On the basis of TNPU, a study on the efficiency of the educational environment for teachers' professional development was conducted. 432 master's degree holders from across the University's disciplines took part in the study overall. The study processed the results statistically using the approach of expert evaluations. The goal of the study was to evaluate the relative significance of each indicator for each element of the educational environment design. The study's findings show how the technological and social aspects of the university's learning environment have undergone major changes that have a big impact on teachers' professional development.The notion of the educational environment, as well as its elements and structural characteristics, are examined in the article. Using spreadsheets as learning tools for neural network simulation
The article supports the need for training techniques for neural network computer simulations in a spreadsheet context. Their use in simulating artificial neural networks is systematically reviewed. The authors distinguish between fundamental methods for addressing the issue of network computer simulation training in the spreadsheet environment, joint application of spreadsheets and tools for neural network simulation, application of third-party add-ins to spreadsheets, development of macros using embedded languages of spreadsheets, use of standard spreadsheet add-ins for non-linear optimization, creation of neural networks in the spreadsheet environment without add-ins, and On the article, methods for creating neural network models in Google Sheets, a cloud-based spreadsheet, are discussed. The classification of multidimensional data presented in R. A. Fisher's "The Use of Multiple Measurements in Taxonomic Problems" served as the model's primary inspiration. Discussed are various idiosyncrasies of data selection as well as Edgar Anderson's participation in the 1920s and 1930s data preparation and collection. An examination of the state of development of future teachers' communicative competence as a prerequisite for providing high-quality general secondary education
The article's scientific novelty lies in the authors' disclosure of the third-year students' average degree of communicative competence (CC) development. Of all the CC components, the cognitive and emotional components are the most prevalent (it can be observed among students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Arts). The students of the Faculty of Foreign Philology and the Faculty of Arts and Graphics are more prepared for the behavioral component of the CC. Both students at the Faculty of Arts and Graphics and the Faculty of Physical Education exhibit a high degree of communicative tolerance. Additionally, the two factors that affect CC were identified: the external factors (organization of students' subject-related leisure; professional-oriented educational work with students; content of education at institutions of higher pedagogical education: specialty of the chosen profession; increased cycle of humanities; active pedagogical practice of students; age of students to work with; different categories of children and adults to work with); and the internal factors (students’ attitude towards self-development, self-education, students’ life and social experience, motivation for acquiring a specialty and CC, humanistic orientation of future teacher’s personality, persona's orientation to “person to person” profession).The article's scientific novelty lies in the authors' disclosure of the third-year students' average degree of communicative competence (CC) development. The paper explores the problem of creating interest in mathematics students' research endeavors at teacher preparation institutions. The purpose of the study is to determine whether it is possible to organize students' scientific investigation using the 5E Instructional Model during a workshop on approximation theory and the Fourier series. The study takes into account the survey responses from the students who assisted in assessing the workshop participants' emotional states. The Differential Emotion Scale, a tool for expressing evaluations of positive and negative emotionality, was used to gather the data. The benefits of the atmosphere created by the 5E Instructional Model on students' emotional states and how it shapes their motivation in scientific inquiry when setting up workshop classes are covered in the article. We have reason to believe that running workshops based on the 5E Instructional Model is effective. Supervision as a form of inclusive education retraining and school community professional advancement
Using the example of Kryvyi Rih, we present the supervision model used to promote the education reform in Ukraine and the retraining of the school's major players. Through a sociopolitical and educational description of the current situation in Kryvyi Rih, empirical study has introduced a model of retraining. Due to this, 124 key stakeholders from 20 inclusive schools underwent testing to help plan the implementation of the monitoring model (teachers, tutors, staff, psychologists and parents from 7 districts of Kryvyi Rih were invited to participate). In this study, we provide an alternative strategy for interagency supervisory groups and communication, with an emphasis on the model supervision retraining of inclusive education specialists. Four stages make up the supervision process: case report, exchange, conceptualization, and summary. In the paper, we suggest a modification of an unstructured interview by a specialist who specifies the context of training supervision in order to facilitate successful work. The psycho-educational support team in inclusive education was able to propose the supervision program thanks to the analysis of the organizational, methodological, and information retraining system and the execution of the pilot project of supervisory groups: I. Providing team members with the necessary training to work with the objectives of each child development plan; II. Using case preparation tools; III. Analyzing environmental elements; and IV. The cognitive identity of a media culture carrier as a subject of education in the information society
The paper supports the idea that the growth of media education is based on the temporality of the topic as synchronization of communicative, cognitive demands on a person with dynamic changes of information reality. It is understandable that developing the necessary skills to be a carrier of modern culture is challenging, as the main threats posed by the deterioration of critical conditions for cognitive activity, the proliferation of communicative interaction models, and the complexity of media culture's semiotic systems fall within the purview of abilities like critical thinking, independent judgment of the quality of content, and safeguards against communication risks, among others. The modern subject of information activity's identified symptomatic cognitive characteristics point to the need for an urgent educational response, which includes the development of requirements and criteria for media literacy, a balanced approach to taking temporality into consideration, procedural thinking in terms of knowledge, memory, and self-identification. It is claimed that a key component of media education is acquiring the semantics, topology, and navigation of the fundamentals of audiovisual communication.
