PERCEIVED BENEFITS OF ACCOUNTING RECORD KEEPING ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN ABA
This study adds to the existing research on SME financial management by analysing the relationship between accounting practises, their perceived benefits and how widely they are used and their impact on performance. While studies have consistently stressed how important it is for SMEs to keep records, little research has looked at how subjective views of accounting practises are linked to performance. To do this, the research analyses 370 SMEs using Spearman’s correlation, Independent Samples t-test and Multiple Linear Regression. The data shows that there is a noticeable but not major connexion between how useful SMEs find accounting practises and their performance. SMEs that believed in the advantages of social media did better. The amount of record-keeping, as seen by regular entries, software use, financial review and accountant involvement, explained 37.5% of the differences in performance. Most other studies centre on technical or compliance issues, but this study emphasises how SMEs’ financial actions and views affect their success. These results suggest that policymakers, SME support agencies and entrepreneurs should promote financial literacy, make accounting easier and create environments that support the growth of SMEs
THE FACTS AND MIRAGE OF INTEGRATING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INTO THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM OF NIGERIA
The creation of machines that are able to learn, reason and perform activities in typical ways of human intelligence is becoming the state-of-the-art application in almost all human endeavour. It is acceptable as a means of relieving excessive workloads on human. The intrigue of these machines is that they are imbued with human intellect and are referred to as Artificial Intelligence (AI) due to the fact that they mimic human capabilities in reasoning, discovering meaning and or learning from past experiences. Their employment is revolutionizing all sectors of the world including the judicial sector. The doctrinal research approach is adopted in this study. It is manifest that the integration of AI in the complex Nigeria judicial system is feasible with identifiable benefits ranging from easy and quick access to justice, accurate legal research, efficiency and accuracy in legal processes and reduction of backlog cases while creating ample time for legal professionals to handle more strategic legal tasks. A technological framework to interface AI with judicial functions is what is required. Despite these benefits, the mirage of AI technology manifests in surmountable set-backs, such as lack of technological infrastructure, inadequate regulatory framework, societal and cultural acceptance, fear of job displacement, vulnerability to cyber-attacks and AI algorithms biases among others. However, fusing AI technology in Nigeria’s judicial system is an acceptable choice when compared to the benefits therefrom. It is recommended that a formidable legal and regulatory framework be developed in fulfilment of the provision of section 18 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to achieve a seamless AI integration in the justice system of Nigeria
INSECURITY IN NIGERIAN SCHOOLS: THE QUEST FOR A LASTING SOLUTION
Nigeria is facing a myriad of security challenges that are threatening her institutional efficiency, socio-political stability and economic development. However, insecurity issues are global concerns which are not limited to a particular country. Though, Nigeria also has her fair share of the problem due to the fact that she is being overwhelmed by series of terror attacks and other forms of insecurity for over a decade which has led to the clarion call for a long-term solution by the citizens and other stakeholders to the government. These attacks on government infrastructures, humans and institutions including religious houses seemed unabating whereas they have direct and indirect consequences on the citizens, institutions, political environment and the economy. Insecurity is a situation where safety or protection of lives and properties are lacking or uncertain while the people are being subjected to anxiety, fear, injury, danger, or worry as it adversely affects meaningful development of any kind in all areas of human endeavour. On the opposite side of it, security is a state that guarantees protection from all threats by consciously establishing secured structures or programmes that ensure the trust of the public. This study examines insecurity in Nigerian schools highlighting the causes, consequences and likely solutions. It discussed further the concept of insecurity, school safety, forms of insecurity in the Nigerian schools, theoretical framework on security, factors that contributes to schools’ insecurity, consequences of insecurity on the Nigerian school system, and lasting solutions to insecurity in Nigerian schools. The study argued that insecurity has adversely affected many schools, lives and properties by way of depriving these institutions from achieving the intended educational goals and has negatively impacted the quality of teaching and research in all levels of education especially the tertiary institutions. The paper was anchored on the Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory propounded by Abraham Maslow. The study concluded that the duty of securing lives and properties rests on every individual in the society and the government to the extent that the cooperation of all and sundry is needed to have a safe society where all sectors of the economy including education can thrive. It also added that the absence of a comprehensive approach to solving insecurity issues will make many Nigerian schools to be vulnerable to series of attack. This study recommended a whole society approach to fight against insecurity where everybody in the community or society is a stakeholder. All the three tiers of government should work assiduously to ensure that all the schools in their domains or areas of jurisdiction are well protected. Security agents should address all issues causing insecurity in all the regions of the country without fear or bias while the government should continue to invest bountifully on the security sector

THE ANALYSIS OF THE INCIDENTS OF ELECTORAL MALPRACTICES IN THE 2023 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN OYO STATE
Conducted amidst notable electoral reforms and technological advancements especially the Electoral Act 2022 and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) the 2023 presidential election in Oyo State, Nigeria, though improved, was tainted by rampant electoral frauds involving vote buying, ballot box theft, voter intimidation, and technological malfunctions. This paper investigates the nature and forms of these malpractices, evaluates how well electoral reforms serve to regulate them, and studies their influence on voter confidence, participation, and the legal validity and acceptability of the election result. Using Institutional Theory, the paper looks at how institutional shortcomings drove ongoing electoral fraud by means of a qualitative research approach based on secondary sources including reports, media analysis, and academic publications. The findings indicate that while legal and technological innovations were commendable, their implementation was affected by systemic inefficiencies, inadequate training, and poor enforcement strategies. The study concludes with recommendations intended to enhance electoral integrity, institutional responsibility, and democratic government in Nigeria

INVESTIGATING THE USE OF TRADITIONAL MEDICARE APPLICATION IN THREE SELECTED CHURCHES IN LAGOS, NIGERIA
Health, illness, disease and medicare are an essential aspect of the human life. One cannot duly perform his/her given roles if he/she is experiencing a fallen health. Research vindicated that religion/faith and medicare have both been instrumental in curing illnesses but in recent studies and what is observable experientially, there is a growing discord in the sense that some pastors have been formulating doctrines that disengages their members from consulting medicare leaving them to faith based healing alone resulting complications and death that should have been averted. The research, therefore, is desideratum in a view to knowing why the use of traditional/orthodox medicine has suddenly become anathema while inculcating faith as the only way through which one could be healed. The methodology adopted to carry out this research is the analytical and descriptive method of survey type and the research instrument was the administration of questionnaire. This research was carried out in the following selected churches Christ Apostolic Church, (Ketu District Headquarters), 71/73 Ikosi Road, Ikosi-Ketu, Lagos; Deeper Life Bible Church, (Yoruba and English Assemblies - Oremeji District) I and 9 Kiniun Ifa Street, Sawmill-Oremeji, Lagos and Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Church, 18/20, Osolo Way, Ajao Estate, Lagos. The population of this research targeted 1,200 participants and through the simple random and stratified sampling techniques, 400 participants were sampled from each church. The opinions of the participants were analyzed using the Likert Scale Method. This research discovered that members of the church are divided on which measure to employ when they have fallen health. And with the findings, both faith healing and medicine are efficacious for healing, thus both can be sought simultaneously. This research then recommends that the church should desist from being exclusive in its doctrines but be inclusive to allow other institutions which are built to help enhance life find expression and usage by their members, this is because the way may be different, but the goal is ultimately for healing. In attempt to do this, the church should encourage their members to consult health care practitioners whenever they experience fallen health
COLONISATION, DECOLONISATION AND THE CHALLENGES OF ENGENDERING AN AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CULTURE
During colonialism, many African countries had their territories conquered and subdued by Europe for the primary purpose of exploring, exploiting and establishing economic buffer zone in Africa. To achieve this, the colonialists introduced and substituted their political and administrative structures for the pre-colonial indigenous African political/administrative structures. This resulted in the adoption of the European model of liberal democracy. The paper discusses the ontology of Africa’s pre-colonial indigenous political system, European colonialism and its attendant adverse effects on the post-colonial African state. The paper rues the aping of Western democratic theory by former African colonies as primarily responsible for the pervasive political crises across Africa. The paper thus recommends a reversion to and the renovation of the pre-colonial African indigenous political institutions as a pathway to engendering an identity for Africa’s democracy. Not a total rejection of the western model of democracy and not a total acceptance of the pre-colonial political institution but a somewhat adoption of a middle course suitable for a typical African socio-cultural milieu
RELIGIOUS FORMATION TECHNIQUES AND ITS EFFECT ON CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS IN IPETU-IJESA, OSUN STATE, NIGERIA
This study investigated the religious formation techniques by Christians and Muslims in Ipetu-Ijesa and the roles of religious leaders in forming religious beliefs and practices among their adherents. Scholars have researched the dynamics of religious formation among Christians and Muslims, but not much attention was drawn to religious formation techniques and their effects in Ipetu-Ijesa, Osun State, Nigeria. The study employed historical and sociological research methods in addition to mixed methods using qualitative and quantitative research methods. The agents of socialization are directly involved, especially families and religious leaders; and these form the respondents for this study (50 Christians and Muslims, 25 from each religion). The study findings revealed that the most effective technique employed by Christians and Muslims in Ipetu-Ijesa in forming religious beliefs and practices were giving their children religious names and participating in religious activities. 90% of respondents agreed that the evening religious tutorial (known as Ile Keu (Quranic Class) for the Muslims, and Eko Irole (Evening Class) for the Christians were other effective religious formation techniques used. The roles of the religious leaders were preaching the truth and teaching the members to abide by the core teachings of their religions. The overall effect of religious formation techniques for Christians-Muslims co-existence in Ipetu-Ijesa includes cordial relationship with one another, and learning from others’ religions. Using the above findings, it implied that the roles of religious leaders are valuable and effective in religious formation; hence, religious leaders and parents should not relent in their efforts in promoting interfaith religious formation and harmony in all Nigerian communities
