A Corpus-based Transitivity Analysis of the Corporate Image Constructed in CEO Statements from the CSR Reports of China Mobile and Vodafone
This Corporate image plays a crucial role in how a company presents itself to the public, and this study explores its construction through the CEO statements in the corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports of China Mobile and Vodafone. By applying Transitivity analysis from Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG) and examining high-frequency nouns, verbs, and keywords, the research compares the similarities and differences in the corporate images of both companies. As leading players in the telecommunications industry, China Mobile and Vodafone provide a compelling context for this comparison. The findings indicate that both companies tend to use positive terms such as "improve," "support," and "service" to convey responsible and approachable corporate images, focusing on environmental sustainability and societal well-being. However, China Mobile’s CEO statements prominently feature keywords such as "poverty," "alleviation," and "China," signaling the company’s focus on social responsibility and active collaboration. On the other hand, Vodafone’s CEO statements emphasize keywords like "climate," "women," "global," and various country names, highlighting the company\u27s commitment to globalization and the welfare of women and the environment. These discursive strategies likely play a significant role in shaping the companies\u27 corporate images and supporting their broader objectives. This study offers valuable insights into the function of CEO statements in CSR reports and contributes to further research on corporate image

How do Poverty, Education, and Health Budgets Impact Life Expectancy? The Mediating Role of Sanitation
Life expectancy is a crucial indicator of the well-being and quality of life of a population. Numerous factors influence life expectancy, including government policies in allocating budgets to key sectors. This study examined the relationship between poverty, education, health budgets, and life expectancy, considering the role of sanitation as a mediating factor. This study aims to elucidate how these three sectors interact in affecting life expectancy, and to what extent sanitation acts as a mediating factor in the relationship between budget allocation and life expectancy. This study analysed the effects of poverty, education, and health budgets on life expectancy in Aceh Province, as well as the role of sanitation as a mediating variable. Secondary data in the form of panel data with 345 observations from 23 districts/cities over 15 periods in Aceh Province from to 2008-2022 were utilised. Panel data regression analysis was employed to estimate the research model, while path analysis and Sobel test were used to assess the mediating role. The results revealed that poverty had a significant negative effect on sanitation, while education and health budgets had significant positive effects. Regarding life expectancy, poverty, education, and sanitation had significant positive effects, but the health budget did not show a significant impact. Furthermore, poverty, education, and health budgets had significant indirect effects on life expectancy through the mediation of sanitation. The indirect effect of poverty on life expectancy through sanitation was negative, while the indirect effect of education on life expectancy through sanitation was positive. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers to optimise budget allocations to increase life expectancy by considering the important role of sanitation as a mediating factor. These findings emphasise the importance of reducing poverty and increasing education to improve sanitation and ultimately enhance life expectancy
Fostering Sustainable Development: Empowering Communities through Education, Zakat Innovation, and Social Assistance Strategies
The rapid pace of global development necessitates sustainable strategies to achieve equitable benefits. Governments implement programs to address poverty and improve welfare, with social assistance as a key intervention to provide immediate relief and mitigate economic hardship. Although their long-term effectiveness in significantly reducing poverty is uncertain, they are crucial to the short-term survival of impoverished communities. Zakat, an Islamic philanthropic mechanism, rooted in social justice and economic redistribution, mandates wealth redistribution among eligible Muslims to support marginalized groups. Effective management of zakat resources can empower beneficiaries and improve their socioeconomic conditions. Both zakat and social assistance aim to enhance the welfare of impoverished populations and synergistically contribute to poverty reduction. The empirical findings suggest that integrating social assistance, zakat, and technological innovations offers a sustainable poverty alleviation framework. Emerging technologies enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in resource allocation, improving program reach and effectiveness. Leveraging digital platforms and data-driven innovations aligns social assistance and zakat with development goals, creating a more substantial impact. The convergence of social assistance and zakat, supported by technological advancements, presents a comprehensive poverty alleviation strategy that promotes sustainable development, and long-term social and economic equit
The Impact of Product Quality, Price and Distribution Channels on Purchasing Decisions: A Case Study of Keris Center in Aeng Tong-Tong, Sumenep
Indonesia, a nation rich in natural resources and cultural heritage, holds immense potential for its citizens\u27 benefit. The country\u27s diverse cultural landscape encompasses tangible and intangible elements, including the Keris, an ancestral artifact imbued with noble values. Aeng Tong-Tong Village, recognized as one of the top 50 tourist villages in ADWI 2022, stands out for its historical and cultural significance, particularly in Keris production. The Keris, known as Tosan Aji in Javanese, is a respected iron embodiment with consistent main components across regions. Sumenep district, home to Aeng Tong-Tong Village, has earned the title "City of Keris" due to its high concentration of master craftsmen, with its significance in Keris production acknowledged by UNESCO. This study examined the influence of product quality, price, and distribution channels on purchasing decisions for senta Keris in Aeng Tong-Tong Village. Descriptive analysis revealed generally favorable conditions across all research variables. The t-test results showed significant effects of product quality (p = 0.037), price (p = 0.000), and distribution channels (p = 0.036) on purchasing decisions. Hypothesis testing confirmed that all variables significantly influenced purchasing decisions (p = 0.000). Product quality impacts decisions due to the distinct characteristics of Aeng Tong-Tong Keris, featuring typical Sumenep shapes and decorations. Price influences decisions as there is no standardized benchmark, with prices varying based on pamor and pendok uniqueness. Distribution channels affect decisions through diverse networks, including collectors and retailers, enhancing product accessibility. These findings highlight the importance of these factors in shaping consumer behavior towards senta Keris purchases in Aeng Tong-Tong Village
Investigating the Social and Environmental Accounting Implementation in the Reclamation of Former Mining Sreas: A Case Study of PT. Kitadin
The mining industry significantly contributes to economic development through tax revenue and export duties but also poses serious social and environmental risks, such as heavy metal pollution, air pollution, land subsidence, and forest degradation. These concerns necessitate responsible mining practices and effective reclamation. This study examined the implementation of social and environmental accounting in ex-mining land reclamation using PT. Kitadin as a case study. An interpretive qualitative approach explores a company\u27s practices in managing environmental responsibilities. Research shows that PT. Kitadin, in its post-mining phase since March 2023, has engaged in land reclamation, revegetation, air and water management, and repurposing of ex-mining areas. The company systematically recorded and measured the environmental impact of its reclamation efforts by integrating these aspects into financial statements and sustainability reports. Additionally, PT. Kitadin has addressed social implications by engaging with stakeholders, including local communities and NGOs. This comprehensive approach underscores a company\u27s commitment to post-mining responsibilities, in line with corporate standards. The findings contribute to the understanding of how mining companies can implement social and environmental accounting in reclamation, balancing economic, environmental, and social considerations
Determining the Export Competitiveness of Indonesian Lobsters to Major Destination Countries
This study investigates the competitiveness of Indonesian lobster exports in five key destination markets—China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia—and explores the influence of key export determinants, namely export prices, the GDP per capita of destination countries, and real exchange rates. The analysis employs the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Export Product Dynamics (EPD) methods to evaluate competitiveness, while the determinants of export performance are examined using quarterly panel data from 2010 to 2022, analysed through the Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. The results reveal that Indonesian lobsters exhibit a comparative advantage in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore, but not in China. Although Indonesia\u27s export market share has expanded in China and Taiwan, it has declined in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore, despite an overall increase in export volume. Long-term analysis indicates that rising export prices do not significantly deter the volume of lobster exports to major markets. Conversely, higher GDP per capita in importing countries is associated with reduced export volumes, particularly in China, where the comparative advantage is weak. This suggests that lobsters are not consistently perceived as luxury goods, as rising incomes may lead consumers to shift toward other food options due to diminishing marginal utility. In the short run, real exchange rates exert a significant impact on export performance. An appreciation of the Indonesian rupiah tends to reduce export volumes, whereas depreciation stimulates them. To bolster its global competitiveness, Indonesia is advised to increase export volumes, foster international trade partnerships, and enhance the quality of its lobster products. These strategies are essential for expanding market presence in both established and emerging export destinations
Determinants of BLACKPINK’s Repurchase Intention in Selected Capital Provinces of Indonesia
This study investigates the factors influencing the repurchase intention of BLACKPINK’s official merchandise. Over the past two decades, the Korean Wave (Hallyu) has experienced rapid growth, with Indonesia ranking first among 20 countries in terms of K-pop fandom size. Despite this, only 30% of K-pop fans in Indonesia own merchandise and are typically willing to spend up to 2 million rupiah annually. Notably, BLACKPINK fans demonstrate a higher purchasing power, with an average annual expenditure of 5 million rupiah solely on official merchandise. Using purposive sampling, this study targeted Indonesian citizens aged 15 to 24 who have purchased official BLACKPINK merchandise and reside in four major provincial capitals: Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Pontianak. The findings reveal that brand awareness and brand image have a positive but statistically insignificant impact on repurchase intention. In contrast, the influence of the Korean Wave and product quality are both positive and statistically significant. These results offer valuable insights into the key factors that drive or hinder consumers\u27 intentions to repurchase BLACKPINK merchandise. Based on the findings, it is recommended that official sellers prioritize enhancing product quality and leveraging the appeal of the Korean Wave to effectively increase repurchase intentions
