La hermenéutica analógica y las humanidades
No full textThe aim of this article is to show the applicability of an Analogic Hermeneutics in the field of Humanities. In fact, they operate interpreting texts, and that is what hermeneutics teaches to do. However, nowadays we find univocal hermenetics and aequivocal hermeneutics, struggling among them, and we need an analogical hermeneutics which can be an intermediate. This way we shall avoid the univocism of positivisms and the aequivocism of posmodernisms. This struggle has conducted to an impasse, and we need already another way to more fertile lands.En este artículo se intenta mostrar la aplicación de la hermenéutica analógica a las humanidades. De hecho, en ellas se trata de interpretar textos, y eso es lo que enseña la hermenéutica. Pero, además, hay en la actualidad hermenéuticas unívocas y hermenéuticas equívocas, que luchan entre sí, y se necesita una hermenéutica analógica, que sea mediadora entre ellas. Así se evitará el univocismo de los positivismos y el equivocismo de los posmodernismos. Esa lucha ha llevado a un impasse y ya se necesita una salida a terrenos más promisorios
The impact of exchange rate volatility on economic growth and international trade
No full textThis paper summarizes several research works which deal with the different effects that the volatility of exchanges rates has on the economy. Among those effects, the most studied have been the effects on international trade and economic growth. Over the last five decades, there has been a debate at the theoretical level and different views at the empirical level on whether the gains from flexibility got under flexible exchange rates outweigh the losses from increased uncertainty which often prevails in such environment of flexible exchange rates. In particular, the impact of exchange rate volatility, both on international trade and economic growth, has been often discussed. This paper attempts to summarize some of the main results of these debates, concerning, in particular, the empirical evidence thus collected.This paper summarizes several research works which deal with the different effects that the volatility of exchanges rates has on the economy. No full textThis essay discusses the results of the World Happiness Report 2022. There are no surprises in the report. The happiest countries in the world have been the same for years: rich and relatively egalitarian countries. But we must not draw hasty conclusions, nor convert the subjective indicator of well-being into an exclusive objective of development. In fact, poor countries with marked social problems also show good results in the happiness index. In short, it is a useful indicator, but it is necessary to know its limits.El presente ensayo discute los resultados del Informe Mundial de la Felicidad 2022. No hay sorpresas en el informe. Hace años que los países más felices del mundo son los mismos: países ricos y relativamente igualitarios. Pero no hay que sacar conclusiones apresuradas, ni convertir al indicador subjetivo de bienestar en un objetivo exclusivo de desarrollo. De hecho, también países pobres y con marcados problemas sociales presentan buen resultado en el índice de felicidad. En definitiva, se trata de un indicador útil, pero es necesario conocer sus límites

No full textIn the context of a continental research project about the Second Vatican Council and its reception in Latin America and the Caribbean, which is included as part of another larger international project, this paper (part two) presents an overview of the vota of the bishops about religious life in Chile, Peru, Venezuela, and Central America in response to the query sent out by John XXIII. This study delves into some aspects of this query, the vota, and religious life; gives a description of the vota according to the Acta et Documenta of the Council (ante preparatory series); and is oriented towards an interpretive reading of religious life with emphasis on some specific issues.En el marco de un proyecto de investigación continental sobre el Concilio Vaticano II y su recepción en América Latina y el Caribe, incluido en otro proyecto internacional mayor, el presente estudio (Segunda Parte) presenta un panorama de los vota de los obispos sobre la vida religiosa en Chile, Perú, Venezuela y América Central, en respuesta a la consulta encargada por Juan XXIII. Se profundizan aspectos de la consulta, los vota y la vida religiosa; se presenta una descripción de los vota según las Acta et Documenta conciliares (serie antepreparatoria) y se orienta hacia una lectura interpretativa sobre vida religiosa con énfasis en algunos temas específicos. Palabras claves: “vota” de obispos sobre vida religiosa, Concilio Vaticano II, vida religiosa, eclesiología preconciliar, fase ante preparatoria, Iglesia en América Latina y el Caribe.
La teología práctica-empírica como un posible enfoque metodológico para un ulterior desarrollo de la teología latinoamericana de los signos de los tiempos
No full textThe theology of the signs of the times is already part of the Latin American theological tradition. All in all, this theology raises two questions that remain open: what could be meant by locus theologicus, applied in this case to current history, and, therefore, the role that it would have for theology; and, on the other hand, how can theology study this theological place in a methodically founded way. Seeking to contribute particularly to the second issue, the following article will collect the most recent studies regarding the first aspect as fundamental bases, to then focus on the second question, trying to show how practical theology and the method of empirical theology can be a contribution to address this methodological challenge. The article will conclude by commenting on the potential that the conjunction of both elements –the understanding of current history as a theological place and empirical practical theology– can have for a further development of the theology of the signs of the times in the continent.La teología de los signos de los tiempos es ya parte de la tradición teológica latinoamericana. Con todo, esta teología plantea dos cuestiones que siguen abiertas: qué se entiende de manera más precisa por locus theologicus, aplicado en este caso a la historia actual, y, por tanto, el rol que ella tendría para la teología; y, por otro lado, cómo puede la teología estudiar este lugar teológico de una manera metódicamente fundada. Buscando aportar particularmente al segundo asunto, el siguiente artículo recogerá los estudios más recientes en torno al primer punto a modo de supuestos fundamentales, para luego focalizarse en la segunda cuestión, intentado mostrar cómo la teología práctica y el método de la teología empírica pueden ser un aporte para abordar dicho desafío metodológico. El artículo concluirá comentando la potencialidad que la conjunción de ambos elementos –la comprensión de la historia actual como lugar teológico y la teología práctica empírica– pueden tener para un ulterior desarrollo de la teología de los signos de los tiempos en el continente.

No full textThe present article is an overview of the main catechisms which where taught and published in Latín America during the pre-hispanic period. Based on the studies made by Mons. Dr. Juan G. Durán, the article presents the main instruments used for the catechization of the continental Indians. From the use of catechisms with images, to the primitive writings that carne from the experience of the missionaries, to those that were a result of the sessions and regulations of the provincial councils and diocesan synods which were held in Lima, México and Bogotá, up to the end of the Hispanic period. El artículo es un recorrido de los principales catecismos que se enseñaron y publicaron en América Latina. Desde la producción investigativa de Mons. Dr. Juan G. Duran se realiza un itinerario que tiene por génesis los primeros instrumentos de la catequización para los indígenas del continente, desde los primeros catecismos en imágenes hasta los que fueron resultado de las sesiones y reglamentos de los consejos provinciales y sínodos diocesanos que se celebraron en Lima, México y Bogotá, hasta el final del período hispánico. No full textIn this paper we will deal with some aspects of the controversy between Wallis and Hobbes concerning the foundations of infinite mathematics and the use of infinite and infinitely small quantities in mathematics. Thus, after some initial clarification on Wallis’s arithmetic of infinities, we will focus particularly on three main topics of this discussion: the nature of infinitesimals and the validity of their use in mathematics; the infinite number and the supposition of what we will call “the completeness of the series”; and the conception that the “excess” disappears, taking the series to infinity.En este trabajo se abordarán algunos aspectos de la polémica entre Wallis y Hobbes en torno de los fundamentos de la matemática infinita y del uso en general de infinitos e infinitamente pequeños en matemática. Así, luego de algunas aclaraciones iniciales sobre la aritmética de los infinitos de Wallis, nos centraremos en especial en tres ejes de esta discusión: la naturaleza de los infinitesimales y la validez de su uso en matemática; el número infinito y la suposición de lo que llamaremos “completitud de las series”; y concepción de que el “exceso” desaparece llevada la serie al infinito
