Threats of COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown to the Livelihoods of Farmers in Gusau, Zamfara State
The outbreak of COVID-19 drastically changed the lives of people globally and dramatically altered the activities of farmers, particularly their livelihoods. Several measures, specifically, lockdowns, were instituted as an emergency measure to prevent the spread of diseases through the restriction of individuals to certain areas. The lockdowns required that businesses must be closed and people stay indoors except for essential services. The study examined the levels of threats associated with the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown to the livelihoods of farmers through three main objectives; to assess the extent to which COVID-19 pandemic lockdown has threatened the socio-economic characteristics of farmers, their farming activities and income generation in Gusau, Zamfara State, Nigeria. A conceptual review of livelihood was done and other scholarly works on threats of pandemics to livelihoods were also reviewed. The study adopted a survey research design and has a sample size of 400, calculated based on unknown population by an online calculator. SPSS was used to analyse 397 copies of valid questionnaire retrieved. The study found out that majority of the farmers actively and sufficiently engaged in both commercial and subsistence farming, not too distant to their houses and accessed mainly through vehicles such as motorcycles, cars, etc. Findings revealed that farming activities such as harvesting, irrigating and transporting engaged in by majority of the farmers were threatened by the lockdowns and resulted in poor income generation among the farmers. The farmers were threatened by the sales of farm produce at lower prices, lack of money to pay for the lease of storage facilities, low orders from customers for the purchase of farm produce, wastage in terms of perishable goods, rotten and damaged farm produce, etc. The study recommends that perishable goods and other farm products should be bought by governments at reasonable prices to control unnecessary hikes in goods and services and loss of income to the farmers during such disasters

The study examined the impact of Financial Innovation (FI) on the growth of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs): Evidence from the North-Central States, Nigeria. The purpose is to investigate how impactful the components of FI namely: Process Innovation (PrssI), Product Innovation (PrdtI), and Institutional Innovation (InsI) on the Opening up of New Markets (ONM). Data for the study were obtained primarily from responses to a questionnaire administered to 251 respondents made up of employees and owners of 10 SMEs each in Jos, Lokoja, and Lafia in the Plateau, Kogi, and the Nasarawa States respectively – North-Central States, Nigeria. Reliability of the measuring instrument was carried out using Cronbach's Alpha with each construct having an Alpha coefficient greater than 0.6. The Correlation Matrix result indicated that all the explanatory variables are positively associated with their coefficients less than 0.7 implying the absence of multicollinearity. Further, the regression results revealed that all the explanatory variables impact ONM. The combined impact of the explanatory variables stood at 56 percent approximately indicated by the coefficient of determination (R2 ) result. The study concluded by recommending the implementation of FI for SMEs in Nigeria as it can trigger their global competitiveness

MEDIATING ROLE OF TRUST IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BRAND EXPERIENCE, BRAND IMAGE, PERCEIVED VALUE AND CUSTOMER LOYALTY AMONG AIR PASSENGERS IN NIGERIA
Simply assessing service evaluation characteristics is insufficient to create consumer loyalty. Thus, the quality of the customer-brand relationship is critical. As a result, the role of trust may be the defining factor in determining customer loyalty, particularly in light of the unprecedented changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic disruption in the Nigerian aviation industry. However, studies on how trust might be combined with other loyalty factors (brand experience, brand image, and perceived value) to influence customer loyalty among air passengers are still lacking. Therefore, the objective of this study is to examine the role of trust as a mediating mechanism in the relationship between brand experience, brand image, perceived value and customer loyalty among air passengers in Nigeria. The study gathered 416 usable data to determine 6 direct and indirect hypotheses developed to address the research problem. Purposive sampling was used for sample selection and PLS-SEM path modelling was employed to analyse the data. The results positively and significantly validated all 3 of the direct hypotheses giving empirical evidence of a significant relationship between customer loyalty and brand experience, brand image as well as perceived value. On the other hand, for the mediation relationships, trust was found to mediate the relationships between brand experience, brand image, perceived value and customer loyalty. Finally, the study recommended that airline operators should continue in their efforts at maintaining and encouraging good customer-brand relationship, particularly in terms of keeping its promise, so as to ensure customers’ trust in their business

The study revealed that; the nature of informal caregiving for elderly persons includes both assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Livings (IADLs). Informal caregivers often experience stress such as fatigue, depression, and frustration. The factors responsible for the stress experience are financial difficulties, multiple demands on the time of caregivers, inability to meet the physical and emotional needs of the elderly persons as well as negative attitude of care recipients. The study concludes that informal caregivers often experience physical and mental stress due to financial challenges, multiple roles, and negative attitudes of elderly persons. The study recommends among others, the need for government to implement a free medical care policy for elderly persons to address some difficulties associated with caring for the elderly. Also, professional health organizations can organize sensitization workshops and training in rural and urban areas to equip informal caregivers with necessary caring skills and knowledge on caring for elderly persons especially those with chronic illness and challenges with physical mobility

Guerilla Journalism in the Niger Delta, an Underdog or a Watchdog: An Ecopostcolonial Interrogation
In a crises-ridden society like Nigeria, investigative journalism, otherwise known as guerilla journalism is an elusive project characterized by innumerable and infamous compromises. This paper attempts to evaluate the limitations of journalism by establishing the albatross(es) of investigative journalism in the Nigerian media orbit stalling national development. It is most of all, an evaluation of the uncovering of the daemons that torment the South-south region of Nigeria, and the inability of the media to do what is expected in Helon Habila’s Oil on Water (OOW). As the media in Nigeria strive to cut across ranks in their reportages, the policies that strangulate their efforts and the determining factors which place them as underdogs in which neither the masses nor the government is vindicated or vilified, are the foci of this study. Employing the Ecopostcolonial critical theory, this work interrogates the role of journalism in the furtherance of national cohesion, while the textual analysis method will give credence to the language, images and symbols in the text under study, to establish the futility associated with journalism in Nigeria in particular, and the world in general. Through the interpretation of the experiences in the narrative, contemporary issues associated with a compromised media can be connected with the elements identified in the text
