Effective Continuous Student Assessment using Statistical Methods
The need of the hour is to impart knowledge to students especially those who are below average and help them gain foot in competing with confidence and vigor. Engineering courses are no cake walk however; a sense of enthusiasm can be developed in such students to partake later in the conglomeration of experts on completion of their course. For this to happen, proper assessment and evaluation of subjective content during the course must be done. A proper and effective assessment process should facilitate in timely identification of the students weak topics in a subject during the course. In this paper, we discuss about direct assessment technique that starts with the preparation of the question paper, pertaining to the subject, topic-wise. The assessment of the students answers shall be done and marks of the subject shall be entered topic-wise. When marks obtained for a particular topic of a subject is below a certain threshold, it acts as an alarm to notify the student of their weak topic that requires immediate attention
Comparative and Analytical Study towards Mitigation of Gray hole Attacks in VANET
Vehicular Adhoc Network is a type of (MANET) Mobile Adhoc Network that enables vehicles on the road to intelligently interact and communicate with other vehicle and road side infrastructure unit. It is prone to several type of attacks and one such attack is Grayhole attack. Gray hole attack is one of the attack on routing specification in which malicious node selectively drops packets coming from the source. Due to lack of security in Adhoc on Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol, Grayhole attack disrupts the performance of network and render communication impossible. This paper reviews various attacks in VANET including Grayhole attack on AODV routing protocol and provides a survey of existing defence approaches to mitigate them
Auro: Adaptive Unicast Routing Framework for Vehicular Ad Hoc Network
A special type of Mobile Ad hoc network (MANET) is Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) and it provides exchange of messages between vehicles. VANET encourages researchers to create safety and comfort applications that will lead to Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). Link failure in the routing path occurs due to frequent change in the network topology of VANET. To handle this situation, the routing protocol has to initiate either a local repair of route or find a route by broadcasting control overhead packets. This increases the network bandwidth utilization of the VANET. When the number of vehicles increase in VANET, broadcasting of redundant route repair packets increases the collisions in the medium leading to broadcasting storm problem. This paper proposes an Adaptive Unicast ROuting (AURO) framework to address frequent disconnections and broadcast storm problems in VANET. This framework selects suitable protocol from the three unicast routing protocols namely On-demand Proactive with Route Maintenance Protocol (ORPM), Efficient Reactive routing Protocol (ERP) and Stable Routing Protocol (SRP) from the network context and the user requirements. The proposed AURO framework is implemented using NS2 and SUMO simulators. The performance of these protocols were thoroughly analyzed and compared with existing popular protocols
An Overview On Web Scraping Techniques And Tools
From the evolution of WWW, the scenario of internet user and data exchange is fastly changes. As common people join the internet and start to use it, lots of new techniques are promoted to boost up the network. At the same time, to enhance computers and network facility new technologies were introduces which results into automatically decreasing in cost of hardware and websites related costs. Due to all these changes, large number of users are joined and use the internet facilities. Daily use of internet cose in to a tremendous data is available on internet. Business, academician, researchers all are share their advertisements, information on internet so that they can be connected to people fastly and easily. As a result of exchange, share and store data on internet, a new problem is arise that how to handle such data overload and how the user will get or access the best information in least efforts. To solve this issues, researcher spotout new technique called Web Scraping. Web scraping is very imperative technique which is used to generate structured data on the basis of available unstructured data on the web. Scaping generated structured data then stored in central database and analyze in spreadsheets. Traditional copy-and-paste, Text grapping and regular expression matching, HTTP programming, HTML parsing, DOM parsing, Webscraping software, Vertical aggregation platforms, Semantic annotation recognizing and Computer vision web-page analyzers are some of the common techniques used for data scraping. Previously most user uses the common copy-pest technique for gathering and analyzing data on the internet, but it is a tedious technique where lot of data copied by the user and store on computer files. As compared to this technique web scraping software is easiest scraping technique. Now a days, there are lots of software are available in the market for web scraping. Our paper is focused on the overview on the information extraction technique i.e. web scraping, different techniques of web scraping and some of the recent tools used for a web scraping
L-AOMDV- An Efficient Proposed Approach in MANETs
Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of mobile devices and is self configuring, dynamically changing, multi-hop wireless network which forms a communication network via multi hop wireless network connection, it is a self-organizing network, without any central control. Nodes in the network communicate with another node only if it lies within its transmission range. Every node acts as both source and router in the network. MANETs are one of the most challenging and growing research field because of their demand and challenges in providing services because of its dynamic nature. Load balancing is one of the key problems in MANETs as load balancing in network is essential for better lifetime of network, Qos, congestion control. The proposed approach in the research emphasises on the stability of the paths and distributing the traffic in the network based on the energy of the nodes
Dynamic Virtual Machine Migration using Network Aware Topology
Clients of the applications communicate with the services hosted in the VMs. Many applications have clients all over the world. An application is expected to provide faster access and transmission of data to its clients if it is geographically close to its clients, as some of the research work suggests that geographical distance has impact on quality of service (QoS) [1,2,3]. In order to provide a faster access and data transfer, applications which have clients all over the world should be hosted in a data center, which is on average close to its clients geographically
Jamming Threat To Wireless Sensor Network
Assurance of security in wireless sensor networks is a difficult task as the sensor networks suffers from limited operating and energy resources. There are several types of denial of service attacks in these networks, but jamming attack is the most severe one. It disturbed the normal transmission of information by reducing the signal to noise ratio. With the help of jammer, radio signals are transmitted towards victim node or the channel. In this work, we analyze different types of jamming attacks which affects the sensor networks. A survey on avoiding jamming attack has been conducted by analyzing signal strength, and packet delivery ratio etc
Performance Analysis of H-Bridge Inverter Integrated For Renewable Energy Sources
An optimized third harmonic compensation strategy is proposed to improve the linear modulation range of single-phase inverter. The method injects the minimum amount of positive third harmonic into inverter by keeping modulation waveform amplitudes of over-modulation cells just being unity, then compensates same amount of negative third harmonic and properly distributes it to the normal cell. It has been observed and the simulation results are discussed. The two-level inverter has the lowest cost and weight in comparison with the other topologies. Hence it has very high THD and it is not practical to have an output voltage with high such THD. The design of the 5-level multilevel inverters seems to be better than the inverters. The proposed method is verified by the combination of battery storage power, capacitor bank and the solar PV Cell
Comparative study of machine learning algorithms for anomaly detection in Cloud infrastructure
Cloud is one of the emerging technologies in the field of computer science and is extremely popular because of its use of elastic resources to provide optimized, cost-effective and on-demand services. As technology started to grow in scale and complexity, the need for automated anomaly detection and monitoring system has become important. Inappropriate exploitation of Cloud resources can often lead to faults like crashing of VMs, decreased efficiency of cloud system etc. thereby leading to violations of the Service Level Agreement (SLA). These faults are often preceded by anomalies in the behavior of the VMs. Hence, the anomalies can be used as indicators of faults which potentially violate the SLAs. We have created a system that will monitor the VMs, detect anomalies and warn the system administrator before any problem escalates. We present in this paper a comparative study of various machine learning algorithms used for detecting anomalies in cloud
