    "Revolutionizing Pest Management: Leveraging Zoology To Optimize Scouting Methods For Phenacoccus Solenopsis In Okra Plants"

    Cotton agroecosystems are under serious threat from the cotton mealybug (Phenacoccus solenopsis). This study examines the host plants, prevalence, damage capacity, and control practices of P. solenopsis infestations in the area. Based on data of field surveys and literature reviews, we study the biology, ecology, and resistance of the insecticide P. solenopsis, and the effects of invasive mealybug species on agricultural crops. In addition, the life history traits and development of P. solenopsis on different host plants are discussed, presenting the importance of integrated pest management (IPM) approaches. The research highlights the critical role of monitoring techniques like migrant traps and quantitative sampling in forecasting and controlling infestations of P. solenopsis. Through amalgamation of results from different sources, this research adds to our knowledge on the dynamics of P. solenopsis populations and provides directions on sustainable pest management in cotton agroecosystems

    Biosynthesis of Zinc oxide Nanoparticles using Barringtonia acutangula Flower Extract and Evaluation of their Antibacterial and Antioxidant Activities

    Zinc oxide (ZnO) has broad applications in various areas. Nanoparticle synthesis using plants is an alternative to conventional physical and chemical methods. It is known that the biological synthesis of nanoparticles is gaining importance due to its simplicity, eco-friendliness and extensive antimicrobial activity. Also, in this study we report the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles (ZnONPs) using Barringtonia acutangula   flower extract. The prepared ZnO nanoparticles have been characterized by UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)). The antioxidant activity of the nanoparticles was tested by the α-diphenyl-β-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. Antibacterial properties of the synthesized ZnONPs were evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli by disc diffusion method

    Monkeypox, a rare zoonotic disease caused by the Monkeypox virus (MPXV), has garnered increasing attention due to sporadic outbreaks in Central and West Africa. This review article provides a concise overview of the etiology, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, and control strategies associated with monkeypox. Drawing on current scientific literature, the article explores the origins of the virus, its natural reservoirs, and the mechanisms of transmission to humans. The epidemiological landscape of monkeypox, including prevalent regions and historical outbreaks, is discussed to highlight the geographical distribution and potential risk factors. The clinical spectrum of monkeypox in humans, ranging from mild to severe cases, is outlined, with a focus on symptoms, progression, and complications. Additionally, preventive measures, such as vaccination strategies and public health interventions, are explored to elucidate current efforts aimed at controlling and mitigating the impact of monkeypox outbreaks. The review concludes with an emphasis on the importance of ongoing research to enhance our understanding of the virus, improve diagnostic tools, and develop effective therapeutic intervention

    Comparative Evaluation Of Combination And Conventional Stainless Steel Arch-Wire For En-Mass Space Closure: A Randomized Clinical Study

    Aim: To compare and evaluate the rate of space closure by combination stainless steel arch-wire and conventional stainless steel arch-wire for en-mass space closure. Materials and Methods: Random selection of twenty patients with treatment plan of first premolar extractions was done. After alignment and leveling up to 0.019˝ × 0.025˝ NiTi archwire a lateral cephalogram and orthodontic study model had been taken as a part of pre-retraction records. Two groups were formed depending on the type of archwire used for extraction space closure. Patients were randomly and equally divided into the two groups with the use of research randomizer software. Group-A: Control group was given conventional rectangular stainless steel arch wire (0.019˝ × 0.025˝) and Group-B: Experimental group was given combination stainless steel arch wire (0.019˝ × 0.025˝ (Anterior) / 0.019˝ (Posterior). For en-mass retraction force of 200 gm/side was applied with use of NiTi closed coil springs. The springs were engaged from micro implant located between second premolar and first molar to the crimpable hooks positioned distal to the lateral incisor on the archwire. Post-retraction records (lateral cephalogram and study model) were obtained when the remaining extraction space was 0.5 mm. This was done to avoid time delay between the extraction space closure and reporting of the participants.  Results: Proportion of female participant was 80% in conventional arch wire group (Group A) and 70% in combination arch wire group (Group B) .With the help of Bivariate analysis, Chi- square value was observed to be 0.267 found with p value >0.05 which indicated no significant difference in gender distribution between two groups. Independent t- test showed significant reduction in canine distance at pre and post en mass retraction stage with both group. Paired t- test showed rate of retraction with combination arch wire group (0.94 mm/months) (Group B) faster than conventional arch wire group (0.89 mm/months) (Group A). There was no statistical significant difference in the retraction rate between two group. Conclusion: En mass retraction rate was faster with the use of combination arch wire when compared with conventional arch wire. In the combination arch wire group, lingual roll -in of molars was found. However, no statistical significance was found between both the group

    Effect Of Surfactant Chain Length Difference In Mixed Surfactant Systems On Self Emulsification Of Poorly Soluble Drug

    In the present investigation the effect of chain length difference (Δn) of different surfactant mixtures was evaluated on self emulsifying capability of self emulsifying drug delivery system of aceclofenac. Three surfactants of Tween series namely Tween 20, Tween 40 and Tween 80 were used for the study. The lipid carrier used was almond oil. Surfactant mixtures were prepared by combining Tween 20 and Tween 80 (Δn=6), Tween 20 and Tween 40 (Δn=4), Tween 40 and Tween 80 (Δn=2) in definite proportion. Pseudoternary diagram study was carried out to determine the surfactant mixture which provides the largest microemulsifying region. The pseudoternary diagram study revealed that the microemulsifying region increases as the difference in chain length increases. So, Tween 80 and Tween 20 were selected for formulation development, the proportion of which is further optimized by simplex lattice design. The formulations were prepared and subjected to different evaluation parameters. The optimized formulation has a particle size of 68.95 nm and zeta potential of -15.3 mV

    Impact of Temperature and pH in modulating the behavioural changes of Labeo calbasu

    Fish behavior is strongly influenced by environmental variables, particularly temperature and pH, which play crucial roles in survival, growth, and reproduction. The present study was carried out to evaluate the behavioral responses of Labeo calbasu under varying temperature (25–35°C) and pH (6-9) conditions. The study was conducted for a period of seven weeks, with the experimental fish kept in different pond enclosures under controlled parameters. Behavioral responses such as swimming activity, feeding response, aggression, and resting pattern were recorded. The results indicated that at moderate temperatures and pH (25–28°C; pH 6-7), fish displayed normal activity and feeding behavior with aggression. However, under extreme temperature and pH conditions (32–35°C; pH 8-9), swimming activity and feeding rate decreased, aggression was absent, and resting behavior was prolonged., qualitative trends suggested that extreme pH and temperature conditions negatively affect the behavior of Labeo calbasu. The findings highlight the importance of maintaining suitable environmental conditions for aquaculture practices and provide a baseline for understanding stress-induced behavioral changes in freshwater fishes
