    Prevalence Of Musculoskeletal Disorder, Quality Of Life And Depression In Post Covid - 19 Patients

    This study investigated the prevalence of long-term musculoskeletal post-COVID pain and their risk factors in a large cohort of COVID-19 survivors. A multicenter cohort study including patients hospitalised because of COVID-19 in 5 hospitals of Madrid (Spain) during the first wave of the pandemic was conducted. Hospitalisation and clinical data were collected from medical records. Patients were scheduled for a telephone interview after hospital discharge for collecting data about the musculoskeletal post-COVID pain. Anxiety/depressive levels and sleep quality were likewise assessed. From 2000 patients recruited, a total of 1969 individuals (46.4% women, age: 61 years, SD: 16 years) were assessed on average at 8.4 (SD: 1.5) months after discharge. At the time of the study, 887 (45% women) reported musculoskeletal post-COVID pain. According to the presence of previous pain symptoms, the prevalence of “de novo” (new-onset) musculoskeletal post-COVID pain was 74.9%, whereas 25.1% experienced an increase in previous symptoms (exacerbated COVID-related pain). Female sex (odds ratio [OR]: 1.349, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.059-1.720), history of musculoskeletal pain (OR 1.553, 95% CI 1.271-1.898), presence of myalgia (OR 1.546, 95% CI 1.155-2.070) and headache (1.866, 95% CI 1.349-2.580) as COVID-19–associated onset symptoms, and days at hospital (OR 1.013, 95% CI 1.004-1.022) were risk factors associated with musculoskeletal post-COVID pain. In conclusion, musculoskeletal post-COVID pain is present in 45.1% of COVID-19 survivors at 8 months after hospital discharge with most patients developing de novo post-COVID pain. Female sex, history of musculoskeletal pain, presence of myalgia and headache as COVID-19 symptoms at the acute phase, and days at hospital were risk factors associated with musculoskeletal post-COVID pain

    Evaluation of Physical Properties of Saliva as Non-Invasive and Point-Of-Care Diagnostic Tools for Early Pregnancy Detection in Cows

    The study aimed to create a cost-effective pregnancy detection model for cattle by combining early pregnancy predicting parameters and focusing on changes in saliva\u27s physical properties. Saliva from 100 pregnant and 100 non-pregnant cows in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan, were collected using pre-weighed sponges attached to a thin, flexible metal rod placed in the cows\u27 mouths for 30 seconds, then processed at farms. Results showed that pregnant cows had significantly higher mean pH (9.325 ± 0.13) than non-pregnant cows (8.133 ± 0.13). Conversely, non-pregnant cows exhibited higher mean specific gravity (0.000173±0.00) and conductivity (0.666 ± 0.029) compared to pregnant cows (0.000146±0.00 and 0.538 ± 0.028). Additionally, non-pregnant cows had higher buffer capacity (7.40 ± 0.10) and flow rate (91.92±1.13) than pregnant cows (2.42 ± 0.151 and 91.92±1.13). Six distinct salivary crystallisation patterns were identified: branches, ferns, fir, dots, none, and combinations. Fern-like (26.19%) and branch-fern (19.04%) patterns were predominant in pregnant cows, while branch-fir (29.03%) and branch-fern (22.58%) were common in non-pregnant cows. These variations are likely influenced by hormonal changes during pregnancy. Further research is needed to validate these findings for early pregnancy diagnosis in cattle and potentially other animal species

    The Shivnath River in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chaowki District of Chhattisgarh, hosts a diverse array of indigenous ornamental fish species, although it remaining largely unexplored. The main aim of this investigation is to comprehensively document and analyze the assortment of these freshwater fish species found within the river system. Extensive field surveys were conducted from June 2023 to May 2024 in various habitats along the river from its source to the Mongra Dam, utilizing standardized sampling methods. Specimens were collected, classified, and their morphological characteristics documented. Additionally, aspects such as habitat preferences and feeding behavior were assessed to understand the ecological factors influencing fish distribution. Findings indicate the presence of 46 species from 15 families across 9 orders, comprising a diverse array of native ornamental fish species, underscoring the ecological significance of the Shivnath River and highlighting the need for conservation efforts. This study offers essential insights for the preservation and administration of freshwater ecosystems in the region, underscoring the importance of protecting native species and their habitats amidst escalating anthropogenic pressures. Upon close examination of these colorful fish, the observed availability and declining diversity of these species in the area appear justified, necessitating timely conservation measures. The imminent extinction of certain fish species is a concerning issue that could disrupt the ecological balance and pose significant challenges for us

    In silico analysis and Molecular docking studies of Eumelanin with Estrogen receptors – A comparative study

    Eumelanin is a complex biopolymer that is ubiquitous in nature. Eumelanins are reported to exhibit extensive biochemical and functional properties. These properties attribute to the composition and structural organization of the molecules. Eumelanins are composed of Dihydroxy indole (DHI) and Dihydroxy indole 3 carboxylic acid (DHICA) units and their quinone forms. In spite of immense studies the structure of eumelanin is not completely elucidated. Molecular simulation studies had predicted oligomeric/tetrameric structure of eumelanin. Cephalopod ink eumelanins are used in treating several female reproductive disorders. Since estrogen receptors play a crucial role in female reproductive disorders, the present study aims at understanding the binding affinity of the predicted forms of eumelanin with estrogen receptors by docking and simulation analysis. It was observed that eumelanin has better binding affinity than other estrogen receptor ligands and the closed tetrameric structure of eumelanin showed  better binding affinity to estrogen receptor α than β

    Trichoderma Viride-mediated Bioconversion: A Promising Approach for Recycling of Household Kitchen Waste

    Management of waste has become challenging issue for mankind to resolve. From diverse routes enormous quantities of waste are generated every day, the majority of waste is dumped on roadways, in open spaces, or near water bodies (such as streams, rivers, or drainage systems) or on the roadways, which is the main cause for polluting of the environment. Present study was designed to investigate different recycling approaches to remediate the kitchen waste into organic manure. Various experimental sets were designed to investigate the rate of decomposition of kitchen waste with different mixtures viz Set‑I (Kitchen waste:Dung), set‑II (Kitchen waste: Rice straw), Set‑III (Kitchen waste:Dung: Rice straw), Set‑IV (Kitchen waste:Dung+Trichoderma viride), Set‑V (Kitchen waste:Rice straw+Trichoderma viride) and Set‑V (Kitchen waste:Dung:Rice straw+Trichoderma viride). Results of the present study revealed that all the experimental sets showed ability to recycle the kitchen waste into organic manure. However significantly higher rate decomposition was observed in set-IV (KW: D+Trichoderma viride) such as change in physical features (color, odour, loss of weight and volume). Therefore, kitchen waste mixed with cow dung and Trichoderma was found to be the most suitable medium for the decomposition of kitchen waste. This method can be used for the recycling of other types of biodegradable waste to develop alternative organic fertilizer for agriculture purposes

    Objective: Azithromycin and Cefixime are two popular medicines that are often used in the treatment of typhoid fever. The treatment of undifferentiated febrile illness (UFI) is usually accomplished by the use of Azithromycin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (SXT). Even though the simple fact is that the two distinct antibiotics were subjected to a complete evaluation of their safety and efficacy, the medications are not inferior to one another when it comes to the management of culture-confirmed enteric fever.
