Association Between Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease And Inflammatory Periodontal Disease
Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and inflammatory periodontal disease (IPD) are both prevalent chronic conditions with growing recognition of potential interplay. Understanding their association is crucial for comprehensive disease management.
Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 300 participants, including 150 with NAFLD and 150 controls without NAFLD. Diagnosis of NAFLD was confirmed by liver ultrasound, while IPD was assessed through clinical periodontal examination. Demographic data, medical history, and lifestyle factors were recorded. Statistical analyses, including chi-square tests and logistic regression, were performed to determine the association between NAFLD and IPD.
Results: Among participants with NAFLD, 65% were found to have IPD compared to 35% in the control group. Logistic regression analysis revealed a significant association between NAFLD and IPD (OR = 2.5, 95% CI: 1.7–3.8, p < 0.001). Additionally, individuals with NAFLD had higher mean periodontal pocket depth (4.2mm vs. 3.1mm) and greater gingival inflammation compared to controls.
Conclusion: This study demonstrates a significant association between NAFLD and IPD, suggesting a potential bidirectional relationship. Comprehensive healthcare strategies addressing both conditions may be warranted to mitigate associated health risks. Further longitudinal studies are needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and explore therapeutic interventions targeting this comorbidity
Comparison of the Effect of Simulated Gastric Juice on Surface Roughness and Flexural Strength of Three Different Computer Aided Designing Computer Aided Manufacturing Blocks: An In Vitro Study
Purpose: To evaluate the effect of simulated gastric juice on surface roughness and flexural strength of three different CAD/CAM blocks.
Materials and Methods: Resin based ceramic (RBC Group), High impact polymer composite (HIPC Group) and Zirconia (Z Group) as 3 groups were considered for the study (90 samples, 30 samples per group). In each group, 10 samples were evaluated without immersion in gastric juice (Baseline). Remaining 20 samples were immersed for total of 24 hours in simulated gastric juice (pH 1.2). The surface roughness and flexural strength of samples was evaluated at the end of 6 hours and 24 hours. This was repeated for all groups. The data obtained was subjected to One way and Multivariate ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests. The significance level was fixed at 5% (p<0.05)
Results: One way ANOVA showed surface roughness of Z group decreased significantly after acid immersion whereas RBC group and HIPC group showed significant increase in the surface roughness after acid immersion. One way multivariate ANOVA revealed statistically significant differences between the groups. Tukey HSD revealed a significant difference from base line to 24 hours across all groups. The surface changes were not significant between 6 hours to 24 hours in Z (p=0.261), RBC (p=0.797), HIPC (p=0.401) and baseline to 6 hours in HIPC group (p=0.397). The flexural strength of all the groups decreased significantly after acid immersion. The change in flexural strength from baseline to 6 hours was not significant in RBC (p=0.123) and HIPC groups (p=0.126) and 6 hours to 24 hours in RBC group (p=0.096). Z group showed a significant reduction from baseline to 6, 6 to 24 and baseline to 24 hrs. RBC and HIPC showed significant reduction from baseline to 24 hrs; and HIPC from 6 to 24 hrs
Conclusion: Resin based ceramic is a suitable material in terms of flexural strength and surface roughness in gastric acid regurgitation, followed by Zirconia as the surface roughness does not increase from the baseline. High impact polymer composite can be a suitable restorative material in severe abrasion and erosion cases as it is least affected by acid in terms of roughness
Enhanced Topical Delivery Of Azelaic Acid Through Nanoemulsion Formulation: Optimization, Characterization, And Potential Therapeutic Application For Skin Disorders
Rapid connectivity homogenization and ultra-probe sonication were used to manufacture the Azelic acid nanoemulsion. Everything is dissolved in clean water: Azelic acid, polyvinyl alcohol, xanthan gum, castor oil, vitamin E, Transcutol P, and Tween 80. To optimize it, we used Response Surface Methodology and measured a bunch of parameters, like droplet size (nm), surface morphology (FE-SEM, TEM), zeta potential (ZP), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polydispersity index (PDI), stability, pH, and viscosity. Both the penetration and retention of the Azelic acid -loaded nanoemulsion into the skin and its release profile were studied in vitro and ex vivo, respectively. The model\u27s quadratic polynomial fitness was confirmed by the optimization analysis of variance (ANOVA), which yielded a significant F-value and a p-value below 0.0500. It was also determined that the lack-of-fit was not statistically significant. Globule size was 200 nm, PDI was 0.2, and entrapment efficacy was 84.99% following optimization of the Azelic acid nanoemulsion. A value of -35.90 mV was recorded for the Zeta Potential (ZP). The absence of chemical interactions was verified by the findings of FTIR, DSC, and XRD investigations, which demonstrated the effective trapping of Azelic acid. Results from scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy revealed the presence of small spherical particles in the enhanced formulation. Centrifugation, freeze-thaw cycles, and storage at 5°C and 25°C were all successfully completed by the sample in the stability tests. Storage at 40°C for 7 weeks resulted in subtle color shifts, most noticeably during the last week of the study. The results of the rheological tests showed that the revised recipe is elastic and May shear-thin and pseudo-plastic. Over the course of 12 hours, the Azelic acid nanoemulsion released 87.66 % and 97.99 of its active ingredient. A high degree of linearity was demonstrated by the sustained release pattern, which matched a zero-order kinetic model (R2 = 0. 0.9952). After 8 hours, the Azelic acid nanoemulsion had an ex vivo penetration rate of 82.24 %, indicating better skin distribution. Based on the results, Azelic acid nanoemulsion might be useful as a skin condition topical therapy. Nevertheless, further research, including studies conducted in living organisms, is necessary to prove that azelic acid nanoemulsion is both efficient and safe
An Experimental Study On Phytochemical Screening And Determination Of Anti-Inflammatory Activity Of Terminalia Bellirica Leaves On Animal Model
With globalization, consumer market patterns changed. However, dietary and lifestyle modifications are among their long-term effects. Millions of lives have been saved by medications developed and discovered thanks to research in the chemical and pharmaceutical sciences, but prolonged use of these medications has raised concerns about their safety and toxicological effects. Researchers looked at the plants that were previously utilized in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine to confirm their traditional uses. Consequently, throughout the past few decades, communities\u27 dependence on complementary and alternative therapies has begun to revive. One such plant, Terminalia bellerica, was known as the "king of medicinal plants" in Ayurveda because of its extensive use in herbal concoctions to treat a variety of health issues. The anti-inflammatory properties of Terminalia bellerica are investigated in this work. Following the collection and testing of the plant material for a number of criteria, an in vivo anti-inflammatory investigation was conducted. After Terminalia bellirica was extracted, the results indicate that while flavonoids, phenols, carbohydrates, and saponins were present, tannin and glycosides were not. Paw edema was significantly inhibited by the Terminalia bellirica hydroalcoholic extract at doses of 200 and 300 mg/kg. After a 4-hour injection of carrageenan, the maximum percentage of edema inhibition for the Terminalia bellirica hydroalcoholic extract was recorded at 59.19% and 62.48% for oral doses of 200 and 300 mg/kg of the extract. According to the findings, Terminalia bellirica have notable anti-inflammatory properties
Quality Of Life In Hemodialysis Patients
The increasing number of patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) has caused a substantial rise in the number of individuals receiving hemodialysis.ESRD, for most patients, is the result of kidney function deterioration over a period of time that is secondary to another chronic medical condition, such as diabetes or hypertension. Treatments that are currently available for ESRD include renal transplantation and a number of forms of renal dialysis.
Objective- To assess the quality of life among the patient undergoing haemogialysis.
Methodology- Quantitative approach and descriptive research design adopted for this study. Total 50 patients(30 male and 20female) selected for this study by purposive sampling technique.
Result and Findings- this study found that most o the patient had poor quality of life due to the disease condition and haemodialysis.

Exploring the health status, nutritional deficiencies, dietary patterns, and laboratory investigation among tribal populations of villages in HD Kote, Karnataka: A cross-sectional study
The development of a nation hinges upon the health and well-being of its populace. However, tribal communities, often marginalized and neglected, face numerous challenges due to their reluctance to engage with other communities for essential services. Understanding the health status of these communities is paramount. This study aims to evaluate the health status, nutrition, and dietary practices among the tribes of Heggadadevanakote (HD Kote), located in the Mysore district of Karnataka, India, focusing on the anemic population.
This study was a baseline analysis of the project titled "Evaluation of efficacy and tolerability of select Ayurveda formulations in moderate Iron Deficiency Anemia", conducted as a part of the Tribal Health Care Research Programme (THCRP) under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Minsitry of AYUSH. The trial was conducted as an outreach activity to address the health needs of the tribal population of HD Kote village, Karnataka.
A survey was conducted among 370 participants aged 18 to 55 years, comprising 77 males and 293 females. Clinical screening for anemia and associated symptoms was performed following the World Health Organization classification. Statistical analysis using MS Excel was employed to determine the prevalence of various health issues within the tribal population.
The findings reveal a significant prevalence of physiological complications among the tribal population, particularly among women, where the majority are affected by anemia, indicating an urgent need to address their health status. To address these challenges and raise awareness, the Ministry of Ayush, along with health professionals, has identified causative factors and implemented various frontline demonstrations, schemes, and promotive and therapeutic activities using Ayurveda to enhance the overall well-being of the tribal community.

Phytochemical, Antioxidant, And Antimicrobial Properties Of Fermented Shoot Extracts Of Bambusa Tulda Found In Northeastern India
Medicinal plants provide a significant supply of natural compounds that can be used to develop new therapeutic medicines for treating severe illnesses including microbial infections. The genus Bambusa, which belongs to the Poaceae family, encompasses a vast and widely distributed collection of plants that possess a wide range of traditional uses in the treatment of various diseases. This study examined the ethanolic extracts of Bambusa tulda, along with its fractions such as ethyl acetate, petroleum ether, n-butanol, and water, to investigate their qualitative and quantitative phytochemical, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties. FTIR analysis of ethanolic powdered shoot extracts shows, presence of different functional groups including C-H, C-O, O-H and aromatic groups by showing stretching’s in different wavelengths. The extracts underwent testing to evaluate their antimicrobial activity against various strains of bacteria by using agar disc diffusion method and micro-dilution techniques to determine the minimum inhibitory and bactericidal concentrations. Additionally, the antioxidant activity of the extracts was assessed using the scavenging activity of DPPH radical methods. The extracts exhibited a robust positive connection between their antioxidant activity and the combined amounts of phenolics and flavonoids. The IC50 values of n-butanol, ethanol, water, petroleum ether, and ethyl acetate fraction show in ascending order 10.77+0.24 μg/ml, 11.35+0.13 μg/ml, 13.36+0.11 μg/ml,13.93+0.71 μg/ml and14.25+ 0.27 μg/ml respectively. The extracts have been shown effective efficacy against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. However, it did not show any responses against Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Escherichia coli exhibited greater susceptibility to the extracts compared to S. aureus, with the n-butanol fraction being the most potent extract
