    No full text
Unorganised sector occupies a predominant portion in the workforce of India. The work is considered to be the physical and mental engagement by human beings for economic productivity. Fisheries Sector has become a source ofincome and employment to those who engage in unorganised employments for their life. India is the second largest producer of fish in the world by contributing 5.68 per cent of global fish production and second largest producer of fish by aquaculture after China. In the National Fish Productivity, State of Karnataka contributes almost 5.8 per cent securing 6th Position in marine productivity and 9th position in the inland fish productivity. Fisheries sector has enriched its share in the national development after effective usage of technology to increase yield per area of water thereby earning more foreign exchange. Fishing occupation is normally hazardous causing harm to the health of the fisher folks. It is essential to provide Social security protections to the fisher folks against contingencies including disability, sickness, employment injuries, occupational diseases and unemployment. The maximum welfare to the fisher folks can be assured only through the execution of Comprehensive Social Security Policy linking Social Assistance Programmes and Social Security Schemes. This study is descriptive and analytical in nature. The study results analyse the implications of social security measures among the fisher folks living in the ThotaBengre fishing village of Mangaluru Taluk in Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka State in India. The study review upon the implications of various social security schemes offered to the fishermen in terms of its coverage and benefit. A good attempt is also made to identify the level of awareness among the fisher folks about social security schemes provided by the government at Centre and State levels respectively. This paper suggests measures for the legislators and fisheries department to improve the benefit schemes thereby securing the inclusive growth of the fishing community

Study on the Mobility in Status of Women Evolutionary Phases towards Empowerment in India

    No full text
Women are the embodiment of divine virtue and purity blessed with the sweetness of speech and beauty from the god. There were contradictory dialogues about women where some schools of thought representing them to be ‘equals of men’ and other schools trying to spread hatred and disrespect by projecting women to be weak minded and unworthy of trust. The status of women witnessed a steady shift along with the phases of Indian society since from ancient to modern times. The life of women was highly influenced by the social attitude and practices in light of philosophical ideologies. The ancient epics and literature placed women with the utmost respect and integrity. The sacred position granted to women found a shattered steady decay with the time leading towards disrespect and injustice. Women started to regain the lost status only in the later part of the nineteenth century. The study on the mobility in the status of women is possible only through a detailed review into the integrated evolutionary process of social system and practices. The injustice and deprivation caused due to the shattered status can be compensated only through equity and justice. Equity in status can be attained only through inclusive growth. This paper highlights on the issues connected to the mobility in the status of women along the ancient, medieval and modern era. It describes the efforts on women empowerment for inclusive growth to ensure equity among men and women thereby recapture the status to which women are deprived off

    No full text
Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) is a progressive neurological disorder of childhood and early adolescence, caused by persistent defective measles virus. A 10 ½ yearold male child with h/o having normal milestones till the age of 15 months had an episode of measles for which child was hospitalized. After one year he showed gradual deterioration of already attained milestones but continued regression of milestones noticed, presented to the department at 10½ years with h/o not getting up from the bed. Patients usually have behavioural changes, myoclonus, dementia, visual disturbances, and pyramidal and extrapyramidal signs and can cause death within 1-3 years of presentations. The diagnosis is based upon characteristic clinical manifestations, the presence of characteristic periodic EEG discharges, and demonstration of raised antibody titre against measles in the plasma and cerebrospinal fluid. Treatment for SSPE is being researched. A combination of oral Isoprinosine and intraventricular interferon alfa appears to be the best effective treatment. Patients responding to treatment need to receive it lifelong. At present effective measles vaccination is the only solution to SSPE

New drug research is considered as a very important research area and probably found more investments of resources and time during the last few centuries. Drug research also contributed to the progress of medical sciences substantially and improving characteristics of drugs in terms of various predicted properties is continued as a challenge and agenda of these researches. Though the objective of drug research is continuous improvements of existing drugs in terms of their curing ability and to discover new drugs which have substantial improved abilities to cure many existing and new diseases, the final goal of drug research is directed to identifying one drug which has the ability to cure all diseases. Such drug system which can cure any diseases instantaneously is called ideal drug or ideal medicine. Based on the exact property expectations from a drug system as a medicine to cure all diseases is still unknown and a systematic study on the goal of ideal drug discovery is yet to be established. In this paper, we have made an attempt to identify the characteristics of an ideal drug which can cure all diseases in the universe. Further, we discussed the challenges and opportunities to realize such an ideal drug which can cure all the diseases. We also analysed the possibility of using nanotechnology which is emerging as universal technology to realize the possibility of developing ideal drug in practice. The advantages, benefits, constraints, and disadvantages of using nanotechnology in drug research with the goal of improving them towards an ideal drug system are also listed. Finally, the comparison is made between conventional drugs and nanotechnology based drugs in terms of Ideal System Characteristics. This paper is on futuristic research along with new knowledge creation and analysis based new interpretation of nanotechnology in medicinal drug

As time progress, changes in human perception, thinking, and performance are inevitableand the same is true in research methods. There are many research methods accepted andadopted under qualitative and quantitative research umbrella and many new researchmethods are added by many researchers at different point of time. Such new systematicresearch methods provide or open a new avenue to succeeding researchers and provide anexpanded opportunity to see things differently. The process ofresearch always focuses oneither development of new knowledge or analysing and interpreting the existing things in anewer way. In this paper, we are proposing and forwarding a new qualitative researchmethod called ‘Patent Analysis’. This method focuses on analysis, description, andinterpretation of a chosen patent in any area in a systematic way. Such analysis process ofthe patent might lead to the development of new concepts or theory. The procedure of patentanalysis contains an evaluation of the patent in terms of its advantages, benefits, constraints, disadvantages, effectiveness, and future value. Further, the use and applications of patentanalysis in the organizational strategic decisions on foreseeing the new technologies are alsodiscusse

The bottom of the pyramid has been the topic of many research articles and scholarly discussions. Since Prahalad and Hart wrote about how multinationals can help alleviate poverty and create value propositions for themselves in 2004, many companies have been looking at strategies to serve the BOP segment in emerging markets. While an equally good number of companies have invested a lot of money in these markets and have failed, only a small minority of corporations that have engaged with the BOP sector have created businesses of high volume and profitability. This paper examines through review of the literature, the impact of branding on people living on less than $2 per day and then what how of reaching these customers in a profitable manner for corporations
