    Get PDF
Purpose: There are many bridges being constructed in Nepal. Brides of different types like Bailey truss, cable stayed, RCC Arch, pre-stressed, RCC Slab, RCC T-Beam, Steel truss, RCC Box, Stone masonry arch, suspension, and suspended bridges are being tendered and constructed at present in Nepal. Most of the bridges being constructed are of RCC T-beam and Prestressed bridges. It has been found the need to carry out research to develop logical price adjustment coefficient ranges for RCC T-beam and Prestressed bridges contracts to make the price adjustment provision more uniform. Design/Methodology/Approach: Primary data was collected by office visits, constituting focus group discussions and interviews of the beneficiaries (clients & contractors) and the secondary data was collected through the Interim payment certificates and contract documents of the selected bridge. Price adjustment calculation was done and price adjustment coefficient ranges for RCC T-girder and prestressed concrete bridges were fixed. Findings/Result: Price adjustment coefficients (Labour coefficient, Material coefficient & Equipment coefficient) were found significantly different since their corresponding weightage in bridge construction are different. Thus, different ranges are to be adopted as per their weightage which is justified by this ANOVA Test. If price adjustment coefficient ranges are not provided in the bidding document, it was seen that the contractor tried to manipulate price adjustment provision to his/her benefit.  Originality/Value: The necessary ranges have been developed for coefficients of price adjustments to provide a guideline to the contractor in bidding price adjustment coefficients Paper Type: Research pape

    Get PDF
Purpose: The journey of travelling for authentication of one’s own sexual or gender identity is never a rose paved path before transgender persons, as their journey is beyond or away from established ideologies proposed about gender. Being born with a particular sexual identity but later realizing that the birth sex is not the actual essence of own self is a serious traumatic phase in any transgender life. It is never a pleasant reality for any of the believer of heterosexuality. They can never accept the existence of a varied gender or sexual category apart from one assigned at the time of birth. Thus, transgenders are forced to hide or suppress own identity to get acceptance in a gender binary led society like India. But there are many who were able to triumph in spite of sufferings from the shackles of gender inequality. Their tales are of courage, willpower, and self-reliance held firmly even before whips of harsh gender otherness. Thus, the article titled “Tales of Triumph: An Analysis of Famous Transgender Personalities from India” is an earnest attempt to draw mass attention to such excellent personalities from a suppressed gender group. Design: The article is prepared by collecting information from secondary sources such as peer-reviewed journals and National and International Publications. Internet sources, and research sources like Google Scholar, Research Gate, SSRN, Elsevier, Academia, and Shodhganga are used for identifying the research gap. To highlight the key aspects of the research ABCD analysis is used. Data is acquired from research journals, doctoral theses, scholarly articles, and websites to carry out the research that has been proposed. Concentrating on the keywords Transgender, Transgender in India, Famous Transgender, Excellent Trans Person, Gender Fluidity, Gender Binaries, of the chosen topic, the methodology used depends mostly on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting previous knowledge. The textual analysis and comparative method will be used in the methodology. There will be a close reading of the select works of Transgender writers followed by discussions on related issues. Writing research papers and participating in conferences on the subject are also aimed at. While conducting the analyses of the study, APA Manual has been followed to adhere to its requirements. Findings: It has been found out that limited study is available regarding great transgender personalities from India, thus a paper discussing the triumph or victories of such a repressed gender minority in India is very essential for educating public about their achievements. Originality: The proposed study focuses primarily on transgender community in India and their priceless achievements in various realms of human knowledge, thus attempting to create awareness about transgender persons and their victories through various time frames. An awareness created about such a category is highly essential for a heterosexual society to reform their perspectives about third gender in India. Paper Type: Research Articl

Purpose: The study made an effort to look into Kerala's agricultural development patterns, growth performance, and structural changes. In Kerala, commercial cash crops like rubber and coconut replaced food crops including lentils, rice, tapioca, cashew nuts, and ginger, causing a shift in the cropping pattern in favour of non-food crops at the expense of food crops. Agriculture has become more vulnerable as a result of the shrinking cultivable area, the predominance of small and dispersed holdings, the fall in agricultural labour, and cultivator use. Methodology: The methodology used in this study is Descriptive Research, which is mainly concerned with secondary data sources. Books, newspapers, journals, articles, and government websites are used to gather secondary data. The information has been collected by using the keywords - sectoral wise changes, structural transformation, agricultural development, commercial agriculture, and agribusinesses. The required articles were obtained by electronic search and manually screened. Originality: The significance of the current study rests in the fact that the preceding studies have not yet addressed the entire structural transformation of Kerala's agrarian sector in a thorough and comprehensive manner, making it necessary. Value: By examining the productivity of the sector, the study will aid in determining the change in trends of agriculture scenario in Kerala and the problems of agriculture sector in Kerala. Findings: The study discovered that while the employment share of the primary sector has not decreased in pace with the substantial reduction in its part of the GSDP. Furthermore, there has been only a little increase in the percentage of income from the secondary sector in the GSDP due to the excess labour force moving from the primary to the secondary sectors, which has led to abundance in the latter. In Kerala, the changes in land use patterns over the past few decades were unparalleled in terms of deforestation, growth in current fallow land, expansion of non-agricultural land, and decreases in net sowing and gross crop area, which led to a drop in cropping intensity. Grit and Self-Efficacy on Growth Mindset- A Review Based Analysis

    Get PDF
Purpose: Grit signifies a student's competence that endures after stumbling academic blocks. The trait Grit is closely identified with mindset. Students who believe that their shortcomings result from their fixed mental models, find no use nor reason to attempt again. Individuals with such rigid attitudes are believed to have a fixed mindset. On the contrary, students with a growth mindset are more likely to be resilient and have more grit. On the contrary, individuals who are mentally tough and strong are likely to be considered to have a growth mindset. According to previous research, grit is a question of nature and nurture. People need to build a growth attitude in order to become grittier. Design/Methodology/Approach: More than 100 research papers, articles, and journals were reviewed systematically to identify gaps, identify conflicts in previous studies, and for the purpose of foundation of knowledge on current topic. A systematic review of literature uses a meticulous and transparent methodology for research synthesis, with the aim of evaluating and, where feasible, diminishing bias in the findings. This review is based on careful and systematic scrutinization of the above-mentioned keywords and their combinations thereof. Electronic databases like Google Scholar, Research gate, Academia, Srinivas Publication and Mendeley/Elsevier with open access journals were perused. Results/ Findings: The relevant reviews indicate that people with a higher level of a growth mindset exhibit an equally high level of self-efficacy than pupils who had a more rigid perspective. Several literatures suggest that grit is associated with improved participation and better performance in a school environment. Students with a fixed mindset have a strong notion that their innate intelligence is limited preventing them from reaching their desired goals. This results in a hopeless ‘giving up’ attitude with a deep-rooted fear of failure. Whereas a growth mindset person marches forward with confidence. Their thoughts and beliefs are controlled by them. They understand that every person is brilliant in their own way which can be built, changed, and developed over time with the necessary components of will and effort. Few studies highlight different intervention models to improve fixed mindset of students. Few other studies suggest that practitioners could find a difference in the increase of grit with effective and committed goal settings which eventually would lead to an increased level of mindset in the right direction.  Originality/Value: This study is a prequel for the original study on grit, self-efficacy, and mindset modification for the professional success of Industrial Training Institute Students. This intervention-based study has been recommended by few previous studies. In all originality, the experimental study would largely impact the young adults, their cognition and non-cognitive behavior with a developed growth mindset.
