Deviant behavior in higher education has become a serious concern, as universities are expected not only to provide academic knowledge but also to develop students’ character, discipline, and sense of civic responsibility. Universities in Pakistan, especially in Balochistan, function amid difficult socioeconomic and emotional environments. Inadequate psychosocial support, increased exposure to digital platforms, quickly changing cultural values, and academic stress are all common problems for students. This study explores how these conditions relate to the prevalence and forms of deviant behavior among university students in Quetta. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data was collected from a sample of students selected through proportional stratified sampling. Key aspects of deviance such as academic misconduct, aggression, absenteeism, disrespect, and ethical disengagement. The findings indicate a moderate but concerning level of deviance, particularly in academic dishonesty, absenteeism, disrespectful language, and involvement in bullying or physical confrontations. Students largely attributed deviant behavior to academic pressure, personal frustration, and inadequate moral guidance, while many emphasized the importance of strengthening counseling and guidance services. Overall, the findings suggest that student deviance in Balochistan’s universities is influenced by institutional culture, peer interaction, and psychological strain. The study underlines the pressing need for moral leadership, effective counseling services, and a supportive campus environment to help students maintain ethical and emotionally balanced academic lives, ultimately reducing deviant behavior

The importance of digital literacy for academic achievement, job readiness, and civic engagement in the knowledge economy of the twenty-first century is becoming more widely acknowledged. Digital literacy is still lacking in many developing nations, especially in Pakistan's Baluchistan, despite its worldwide importance. This study examines the present state of digital literacy among Quetta secondary school students, pinpoints obstacles that educators and students encounter, and suggests methods for improving digital competencies. 138 students were tested on their proficiency in six ICT domains using a quantitative design and the Digital Literacy Assessment Tool (DLAT), which was modified from the European Union framework. These domains included Microsoft applications, multimedia tools, communication platforms, problem-solving, content access, and cyber security. Additionally, 133 teachers' survey responses were gathered in order to assess the difficulties associated with ICT integration. The findings demonstrate a good level of proficiency with communication tools (66.6% at the advanced level) and a respectable level of ability with multimedia applications and material access. However, serious deficiencies were discovered in problem-solving (89% beginning) and cyber security (59% novice). Teacher polls revealed a number of systemic barriers, including ambiguous ICT policies, poor infrastructure, a lack of funding, a lack of professional development, and cultural resistance to technology use. Even if kids get some basic digital exposure informally, the study concludes that there is a lack of systematic and pedagogically integrated ICT training. To reduce the digital gap, the research recommends curriculum changes that align with worldwide frameworks, continuous professional development for educators, increased infrastructure investment, digital material that is relevant for the region, and cyber security awareness initiatives. These adjustments are necessary to give Baluchistan's children the tools they need to thrive in the digital era, which will enhance employability, equity, and national growth

Language assessment refers to the process of evaluating an individual’s language proficiency, skills, and abilities. This assessment can encompass various aspects of language, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, and comprehension. This research is a case study of language testing, where among the four of language skills, this study focuses on writing skill of the learners, to evaluate linguistic competence and abilities at beginner level. Moreover, the research adopts the framework of task-based language learning by Willis Jane (1996) to profoundly examine the phenomenon under exploration. The research design opted for this case study is the qualitative approach. Writing skills have been assessed via essay writing prompts of five students which is the sample for this study. The findings suggest that writing proficiency is a key issue for standardized assessment criteria. It further suggests that the examination of key criteria of essay such as thesis statement, organization, development of ideas, evidence and support, analysis, and language proficiency accentuates the multi-layered nature of writing evaluation The conclusion also suggests that assessment in writing skills for language testing will help to develop critical thinking, accurate function of language, and ability to practice language, at beginner level. It becomes imperative to strike a balance between standardized evaluation and the recognition of individual linguistic styles and cultural influences as well. Furthermore, the research has emphasized the need for clear guidelines, consistency, and transparency in the assessment process in the department. Teachers and language professionals should collaborate to develop assessment tools that align with learning objectives and provide constructive feedback to aid learners in their linguistic development

Geopolitical Landscape of South Asia and Doctrinal Evolution in India under Modi Era (2014-2024)

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's era (2014–2024), India's doctrinal change reiterates the denunciation of defensive deterrence and embraces proactive military involvement in aspiration for becoming Asia Tiger. This paper studies the pattern of strategic recalibration of India owing to China's military ambition, India's proxy warfare, strategic defense partnership with the US, aggressive strategic relations with Pakistan, and regional turmoil in South Asia. It would be India's institutionalization of Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs), adoption of the New Land Warfare Doctrine (2018), use of surgical strikes (2016 Uri, 2019 Balakot), and willingness to engage in preemptive deterrence, force projection, and denial strategy that speak volumes, indicating India's readiness for military deterrence and campaigns. Additionally, India has broadened the definition of hybrid warfare, with the conflation of cyber operations, information warfare, and economic statecraft to respond to conventional and non-conventional threats. Establishing the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and tri-services theater commands has enhanced joint military coordination. This paper analyzes interplay between regional security dynamics and India's doctrinal transformation during      Modi’s era. Current study is qualitative in approach based on archival data under the theoretical lens of offensive realism. India’s strategic policies and aspirations for regional leadership in Indo-Pacific are escalating tension against Pakistan and China. This paper offers an in-depth study analysis of India's doctrinal shifts, geopolitical motifs, and its broader bearings on the trajectory of global security

مولانا محمد جوناگڑھیؒ کے ترجمہ قرآن کا ایک تحقیقی وتنقیدی جائزہ: A Research-Based and Critical Review of Maulana Muhammad Junagarhi’s Translation of the Qur’an.

    No full text
This article presents a comprehensive analytical and critical study of Tarjumān al-Qur’ān by Maulana Muhammad Junagadhi, one of the most widely read and influential Urdu translations of the Qur’an. The paper begins with a historical overview of Qur’anic translation efforts in the Indian subcontinent, tracing their development from Shah Waliullah’s pioneering Persian translation to the emergence of major Urdu translations by Shah Rafiuddin, Shah Abdul Qadir, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Abul Kalam Azad, Abul A‘la Maududi, and others. It then introduces Maulana Junagadhi’s life, educational background, scholarly contributions, and prolific literary legacy, situating him within the intellectual and reformist milieu of early twentieth-century India. The core of the study is devoted to an in-depth examination of Junagadhi’s translation methodology and style, highlighting key features such as his use of simple and fluent Urdu, avoidance of heavy Persian and Arabic constructions, preference for conceptual over literal rendering, and judicious use of parenthetical clarifications to make meanings explicit. Several examples are provided to illustrate his choices in handling complex syntactic structures, verb forms, and theological terms. A critical evaluation follows, identifying certain shortcomings and inconsistencies in Junagadhi’s work. These include occasional neglect of grammatical subtleties, misinterpretation of morphological forms, unnecessary departure from literal meanings in well-known terms, and issues of tense consistency and syntactic precision. The paper also undertakes a comparative analysis of selected verses, placing Junagadhi’s translation alongside other major Urdu versions to assess its strengths, limitations, and relative reliability. Overall, the study concludes that while Tarjumān al-Qur’ān remains an important milestone in Urdu Qur’anic translation for its accessibility, elegance, and impact, it also exemplifies the challenges inherent in rendering the Qur’an into another language. This research aims to contribute to the broader discourse on Qur’anic translation studies, particularly regarding fidelity to the original text, linguistic clarity, and theological nuance in the South Asian context

Collective Ijtihad during the Era of the Prophet ﷺ: A Model of Intellectual Unity for the Ummah

    No full text
In the era of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), the concept of collective ijtihad (independent reasoning) served as a fundamental pillar for fostering intellectual unity within the Muslim community. The Prophet ﷺ established a model wherein consultation (Shura) and consensus (Ijma) were central to decision-making processes. This approach was not only instrumental in resolving disputes but also promoted unity, collaboration, and mutual respect among the companions (Sahabah). Through collective ijtihad, the Prophet ﷺ demonstrated that, despite differences in opinions, a unified and well-considered decision could be achieved, ensuring harmony and cohesion in the community. The practice of consulting the companions and encouraging collective reasoning allowed for diverse viewpoints to be heard and integrated into decisions that aligned with the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah. This process ensured that the community's decisions reflected the collective wisdom of its members, fostering an environment of intellectual solidarity. Importantly, this model highlighted the idea that diversity of thought within the community was not a cause for division, but rather a strength when managed through mutual consultation and agreement. In the contemporary world, this practice remains a beacon for the Muslim ummah. It provides a clear and relevant methodology for resolving modern issues within the community, where diverse opinions are prevalent. The lesson from the era of the Prophet ﷺ is that unity can be maintained through consultation, ijtihad, and consensus, even in the face of differences. This approach not only safeguards the intellectual unity of the Muslim community but also lays the foundation for its success and prosperity, both in this world and the hereafter. By adopting the principles of collective ijtihad, consultation, and consensus, Muslims can overcome divisions and work towards common goals. The example set by the Prophet ﷺ continues to be a source of guidance for modern Muslims, showing that intellectual unity, collaboration, and mutual respect are key to building a successful and harmonious community. Through these principles, Muslims can continue to thrive as a united and prosperous ummah in the modern world

This research examines how HUM TV’s Instagram account portrays street crimes in Islamabad and how these portrayals shape public understanding of safety and crime. As social media becomes a main source of news, platforms like Instagram have changed how stories are told—focusing on visuals, emotion, and speed. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, the study explores how HUM TV uses images, captions, and hashtags to frame incidents of street crime. Guided by Framing Theory (Entman, 1993) and Agenda-Setting Theory (McCombs & Shaw, 1972), it looks at how media choices can influence what people think and feel about crime. The findings show that HUM TV’s Instagram coverage often relies on dramatic visuals and emotional captions, which attract attention but can also increase fear and sensationalism. While these posts keep audiences informed, they sometimes lack context or ethical balance. The study concludes that responsible, balanced storytelling on social media can improve awareness without amplifying fear, helping the media serve as a bridge between public safety and public information
