    Get PDF
Employee commitment is important for the success of quick-service restaurants (QSRs). It affects how well they perform, how often workers leave, and how long the business can stay strong. This work evaluated the nexus between rewrd system and employee commitment at QSRs in Port Harcourt, Nigeria and was operationalized with recognition and career growth. The study was based on Social Exchange Theory as the theoretical underpin (SET). Data was collated from 65 staff members of 10 separate QSR establishments using surveys. The results revealed that when employees feel recognized, they are more committed to their work. In other words, when people feel valued, they stick around longer. The study also points out some challenges in rewarding employees, especially with limited resources and high expectations in Port Harcourt. To improve employee satisfaction and keep workers, QSRs should create clear recognition programs and career paths. By meeting employees' needs, these businesses can build a more dedicated workforce. This, in turn, can lead to better service and smoother operations

APPROXIMATE SOLUTION TO FRACTIONAL ORDER SOIL TRANSMITTED HELMINTH INFECTION MODEL USING LAPLACE ADOMIAN DECOMPOSITION METHOD

    Get PDF
In this study, we proposed a fractional order compartmental model based on the Caputo derivative to describe the dynamics of soil-transmitted helminth infection. We employed the Laplace Adomian Decomposition Method (LADM) to derive series solutions for each equation within the system of non-linear differential equations that comprise the epidemiological model. Our findings indicate that the infinite series generated by LADM converges to the exact solution of the system. We performed numerical simulations of the fractional order compartmental deterministic model using MATLAB to validate the approximate results. Additionally, comparing the solutions of the fractional order model with the classical model reveals that the fractional order model offers greater flexibility, allowing the system to be adjusted to achieve various desired outcomes in different compartments by varying the fractional order to values such as 0.75, 0.8, 0.85, 0.9, 0.95, and 1

This study empirically examined the relationship between work passion and employees' creativity. The sample for this study consists of 245 randomly selected academic members of staff (both teaching and non-teaching) from the five purposively drawn Federal Government-owned universities in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria. A quasi-experimental research design was employed, and data was collected through a cross-sectional survey as it is the most appropriate for the administrative sciences. The Kendall Coefficient of Concordance using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 15 were used for data analysis. The findings indicate the existence of a positive and statistically significant relationship between work passion and employees' creativity in Nigerian universities. Specifically, employees' harmonious passion for work was revealed to have a positive and significant influence on the various measures of employees' creativity (expertise, creative-thinking skills, and intrinsic task motivation, respectively). Conversely, employees' obsessive passion for work was revealed to have a positive but weak and significant influence on the various measures of employees' creativity (expertise, creative-thinking skills, and intrinsic task motivation, respectively). Based on these findings, the study concludes that employees' harmonious passion for work significantly enhances their level of creativity in the Nigerian university system. Conversely, the study concludes that employees' obsessive passion for work hinders their level of creativity in the Nigerian university system. Given the results and conclusions above, it behoves the management of Nigerian universities to continuously ensure and promote work passion among their employees as this can enhance and ignite the spirit of creativity within the university system. Other theoretical and managerial implications for managing employees' work passion and enhancing employees' creativity in the Nigerian university system are also presented

The study had as objectives; (1) it seeks to examine the relationship between litigation divorce and the psychosocial development of adolescents in some selected secondary schools in the Buea Municipality, (2) to examine the relationship between mutual consent divorce and the psychosocial development of adolescents in some selected secondary schools in the Buea Municipality, (3) also, it seeks to examine the relationship between divorce due to irretrievable marital bonds and the psychosocial development of adolescents in some selected secondary schools in the Buea Municipality. The study made use of the qualitative research method, which also adopted the case study research design. It was conducted in the Buea Municipality, Fako Division, South West Region of Cameroon. The target population for the study was all adolescents from divorced homes. The accessible population consisted of 150 adolescents from some selected secondary schools in the Buea Municipality.  The simple random sampling was employed to select 6 secondary schools used for this study. The purposive, non-probability sampling technique were then used to select the adolescent secondary school student participants. Data was collected using open ended questionnaires. The qualitative data obtained was analysed using the narrative analysis method. From the results of the study, divorce had impaired with adolescents’ psychosocial development. It was recommended that parents should show their adolescent children more love and care as they are most affected by their decision to divorce. There is also a need for divorced parents to adopt a more authoritative parenting style as it takes a more child cantered approach and would enable parents to understand their children’s feelings, teach them how to regulate their feelings as well as encourages their children to be independent. More research should be conducted on the predisposing factors of parental divorce and separation among Cameroon’s young families
