The study made use of primary data which were gotten from the issue of questionnaire. The ordinary least square analysis technique was used to test the hypotheses with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0. The result revealed that human resource management practices have significant and positive impact on organisational performance. Based on the findings, the study recommended that due to the significant impact of human resource management practices on organisational performance, that human resources management practices should be handled properly in deposit money banks, since it enhances organisational performance, and that deposit money banks should have a deep insight into the human resources management practices and the activities involved in the process

ALLUSIONS IN JEREMIAH 4:23–26: LOCAL OR GLOBAL SCOPE?

    Get PDF
Scholars have noted a special status of Jer 4:23–26, and for some 4:23–28, in Jeremiah and the rest of the OT. It has been described as “the most powerful descriptions of the Day of the Lord in the OT” 1, “the most dramatic one its kind” 2, and one can add a unique passage in the book of Jeremiah 3. Some leading scholars of Jeremiah hold that the phrase ( הת ו הבו וformless and void) 4, in Jer 4:23 alludes to Gen 1:2. This allusion led them to conclude that this literary unit conveys universal undoing of creation, i.e. decreation 5. The present study affirms that the allusions of Jer 4:23–26 to Gen 1:2 and other texts in Gen 1–3 are well established 6, but suggests that allusive links between Jer 4:23, along with vv. 24–26, to Gen 1–2 do not convey the idea of universal de-creation of  the entire planet, but rather describe the land of Judah 7. This understanding of Jer 4:23–26 is based on the contextual reading of Jer 4:23–26 along with its allusions and the texts alluded to. The present study develops in five steps. The first step is to verify whether Jer 4:23–26 is a distinct pericope and establish delineation of its context. Secondly, the overall meaning of the context will be established and later reinforced by its allusions. The next step is to establish the connection between Jer 4:23–26 and its context. The fourth step is identification of the allusions in Jer 4:23–26. Finally, the present study will suggest the role of והת והבוand other allusions in Jer 4:23–26

Application of Laplace-Adomian Decomposition Method (LADM) to Solving Zika Virus Model with Vector Control

    No full text
The emergence and spread of vector-borne diseases pose significant public health challenges worldwide, especially in regions where its primary vector, the Aedes aegypti mosquito, thrives. Zika virus (ZIKV) infection represents a pressing concern due to its potential for severe neurological complications and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Effective control strategies are imperative to mitigate ZIKV transmission and reduce the burden of disease. This study explores the application of the Laplace-Adomian Decomposition Method (LADM) to solve a mathematical model describing the dynamics of Zika virus transmission with vector control interventions. The Laplace-Adomian Decomposition Method (LADM) is used to numerically solve a Zika virus model incorporating vector control through Wolbachia-infected mosquitoes. This method allows for efficient and accurate computation of solutions, enabling insights into the impact of Wolbachia on reducing mosquito populations and controlling Zika transmission. The total population is dividing into three subpopulations: humans, Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, Wolbachia-infected mosquitoes and each of these subpopulations are further divided into epidemiological compartments. Advantages of the method over other numerical methods are clearly stated. Our findings demonstrate the effectiveness of the method and Wolbachia as a vector control measure. It also provides valuable insights for policymakers and public health authorities. &nbsp

Lack of job satisfaction threatens university education in Nigeria. It is a criticalfeature of their overall well-being and performance within an academic institution. Recreation on the other hand has been identified as a factor that enhances overall well-being. This study was undertaken to determine the associations between recreational activitiesand job satisfaction of lectures in university of Port Harcourt. The study utilized a cross-sectional survey involving an online distribution of questionnaire and interview methods to collect data on recreational activities of 299 academic staff in University of Port Harcourt using a pretested questionnaire. Data was collected on the demographic characteristics of the lecturers, their level of participation in recreational activities and job satisfaction. A construct of six items was used to measure job satisfaction. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. The results showed that a good proportion of lecturers (76.9%) reported to indulge in some form of recreational activities while only about 23.1% did not. Walking (38.5%) was found to be a common activity among the lecturers.Observing break hour significantly correlated with recreational participation of lecturers (r = 0.822**). Job satisfaction correlated positively with lecturers’ age (r = 0.481**). Participation in recreation, age and rank accounted for about 40% variation in job satisfaction. However, recreational participation alone was found not to correlate with job satisfaction (r = 0.080). It was thus concluded that lecturers’ participation in recreational activities was commendable but can be improvedby encouraging observance of break time

The Role of the Ombudsman in Curbing Corruption in Malawi

    Get PDF
Corruption in Malawi is a complex and sophisticated problem with causes ranging from bureaucratic shortcomings to cultural factors and outright greed. It, therefore, goes without saying that equally sophisticated and multifaceted control mechanisms and measures are required to curb it. One possible solution is to exploit the full potential of the oversight and accountability institutions that form the governance structure. But what role can each of these institutions play in the fight against corruption?Using data from 40 questionnaires, 6 key-informant interviews and previously published works, this paper endeavours to examine the role the Office of the Ombudsman can play in curbing corruption in Malawi. The paper finds that, by promoting accountability, the Ombudsman plays an important role in the fight against corruption, albeit there is a specific institution for the purpose– the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The paper recommends clarity on mandates and cooperation, civic education and recruitment of well-qualified staff. &nbsp

Enseigner l’humanité dans un monde de crise : quels enjeux éducatifs ?

    Get PDF
Abstract Teaching plays an essentially important role in the functioning of a society. It helps transform the ways of thinking and acting of learners. The relationship between learner and teacher must be based on the purposes of education. It is not only about transmitting basic knowledge, but also about looking towards the future. The objective is to question human nature, while attempting to move from one state to a better one. Questioning, at this level, is not just understanding but deep reflection. Furthermore, human progress creates a common heritage for humanity. This heritage is essentially due to civilization. From birth, human beings live in a society. The laws of each society apply a mechanism, that of education. This leads to human, social, and civic development. Indeed, the flourishing of minds can only be achieved through education. It conveys a set of human values. Moreover, knowledge of these values is fundamental as we learn to live together. Only knowledge knowledge can bring about changes in teaching methods. This research investigated the relationship between corporate social responsibility disclosure and earnings quality of quoted manufacturing companies in Nigeria during the period 2012-2022. The research adopted the ex-post facto design wherein secondary sources of published financial statements were extracted. Community development cost, human capacity development cost and employee benefit cost were used as the dimensions of the independent variable (corporate social responsibility disclosure). While accrual quality  was employed as the measures of the dependent variable (earnings quality). A random sampling technique was found suitable in this study as it gave equal sampling chance to all variables under investigation. The research made use of e-view 10 statistical software in the analyses of all formulated hypotheses. The output of the hypotheses showed the following results: positive and significant relationship between community development cost and accrual quality, positive and insignificant relationship between human capacity development cost and accrual quality,   as well as positive and significant relationship between employee benefit cost and accrual quality, The research study concluded amongst others that there exists a positive and significant relationship between community development cost and accrual quality, and that every marginal increase in community development cost leads to a similar increase in accrual quality. Based on the findings, this research recommended as follows: the accountants and managers of quoted manufacturing companies should disclose to the users of accounting information every community development cost incurred, shareholders in quoted manufacturing companies in Nigeria should understand the complex nature of human capacity development cost in relation to their earnings, and that employees of quoted manufacturing companies in Nigeria to periodically present to management their unsettled and undisclosed benefits in accordance with international labour law for implementation

Implementation of the Government Agency Performance Accountability System

    Get PDF
Performance accountability is a form of accountability to the public apart from financial accountability. However, performance accountability in current government practice still receives little attention so that this field of performance accountability often arises empirical problems, especially in the preparation of planning which should be carried out simultaneously with integrated budget planning (integrated development plan). This research is descriptive qualitative research which aims to provide an explanation and validation of events or facts, circumstances, phenomena, variables and conditions that occurred during the research by presenting what actually happened . From the research results, several research findings can be concluded, namely:(1) SAKIP implementation is going well, but it is administrative and operational, main weakness in the planning aspectstrategicand performance measurement that is not yet fully results and SMART oriented as well as changing the process mindset to results (outcomes) which is slow (2) Main obstacles in implementation: limited human resources who are competent in the field of performance management, institutions that handle performance accountability are not yet in accordance with workload, reward and punishment have not been linked to performance; (3) the existing implementation model needs to be maintained but developed with increased commitment from the leadership and all employees
