Implications of digital payments on market appreciation of MSMEs in Naga City

    Get PDF
Digital payments are transforming the economic landscape of the Philippines, yet their effects on local economies, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), are still under-researched. This study investigates the influence of digital payment systems on consumer behavior, spending power, and perceptions of MSMEs in Naga City. Using a descriptive-correlational research approach, the researchers surveyed 100 MSME consumers to identify factors affecting digital payment adoption. The findings indicate that demographic factors such as age, education, and income significantly influence the adoption of digital payments, with awareness also playing a crucial role in purchasing decisions. A notable relationship between digital payment adoption and consumer purchasing behavior across demographic segments was established. In response, the study proposes the "Empowering Digital Transactions" initiative, aimed at enhancing digital payment adoption over one year. This initiative includes a marketing strategy to increase awareness, provide incentives, and prepare businesses for effective digital transactions, fostering sustainable growth for both MSMEs and consumers in Naga City

    Get PDF
Anthracnose disease in rambutan fruit is caused by Colletotrichum fructicola which is found both in the harvest and post-harvest. The diversity index of exophytic fungi ranges from 0.4634 - 1.3143 with structural conditions from less stable to very rotten to moderate categories and with a score of 1-3. The dominance index of 0.643 - 0.773 is close to 1, this is supported by the uniformity index of 0.0816 - 1.1379, meaning that there are dominant species in the fruit exophyte, namely Neurospora sp, in the leaf exophyte Aspergillus flavus and in the stem exophyte Aspergillus niger. The highest in vitro inhibition of exophytic microbes on fruit was achieved by A. niger 4 of 92.22 ± 0.3%. In the leaf exophyte, the highest inhibition was achieved by A. niger 1 of 83.33 ± 0.2%. The highest inhibition on stem exophytes was achieved by Neurospora sp. 3 at 94.44±0.1%

Biochemical indices are important biomarkers of health and disease state in both humans and rodents. This study was designed to evaluate plausible changes in biochemical indices in lead-induced toxicity following administration of methanolic extracts of Curcuma longa rhizomes and Cucumis sativus fruits. Twenty five (25) male rats weighing between 145g-200g were purchased, acclimatized and subsequently randomly distributed into five (5) groups(5 rats each) and were treated for 28 daysas follows: Group 1: Control group (received distilled water and normal feed only); Group 2: received a daily dose of 2.25mg/kg lead for 28 days; Group 3: rats received 2.25mg/kg lead + 200mg/kg Curcuma longa rhizome extract; Group 4: rats received 2.25mg/kg lead + 500mg/kg Cucumis sativus extract; Group 5: rats received 2.25mg/kg lead + 200mg/kg Curcuma longa rhizome + 500mg/kg body weight of Cucumis sativus extracts. Daily treatments with lead and extracts were orally. Testes were harvested and homogenized for determination of testicular cholesterol and nitric oxide levels on day 29, also blood was collected via direct cardiac puncture for serum liver enzymes and lipid parameters estimation. Expectedly, significantly higher values of testicular cholesterol, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, total cholesterol, triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein but decrease nitric oxide, total protein, albumin and high-density lipoprotein levels were observed amongst group 2 rats administered 2.25mg/kg lead compared to group 1 ratsp<0.05, suggesting a possible deleterious effect of lead. Predictably, individual doses of the extracts of Curcuma longa rhizome and Cucumis sativus administration to groups 3 and 4 rats significantly ameliorated the above parametersp<0.05, suggesting a likely beneficial effect of Curcuma longa and Cucumis sativus extracts with Curcuma longa rhizome showing greater potency compared to Cucumis sativus. Combined administration of both extracts to group 5 rats showed better therapeutic efficacy compared to both groups 3 and 4 rats. Results suggests that combined treatment with Curcuma longa and Cucumis sativus may present better outcome compared to individual administration. More studies are recommended to this end

    Get PDF
This study explores the challenges of mentoring and supervision in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) internship programs in Patna, Bihar, India, using Vygotsky’s concept of scaffolding as a guiding theoretical framework. The research investigates the perspectives of key stakeholders, including interns, their supervisors, Teacher Education Institution (TEI) principals, host school principals, and host school teachers. Employing a qualitative methodology, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with participants selected via multi-stage sampling. Thematic analysis of the data reveals that interns frequently lack sufficient mentoring and supervisory support, primarily due to the heavy workload faced by both supervisors and mentors. Additionally, the study finds a prevalent culture of mutual blame among stakeholders, with each group attributing shortcomings in the mentoring process to others. These findings highlight the need for a more integrated and cooperative approach to supervision in teacher training programs, addressing the specific contextual challenges to enhance the quality of support for pre-service teachers. The study suggests that policy changes and structural adjustments are essential to foster more effective mentorship and scaffolded learning experiences within B.Ed programs
