DECISION-MAKING OF FARM HOUSEHOLDS IN PREVENTING STUNTING IN LEMPAKE VILLAGE, NORTH SAMARINDA DISTRICT, SAMARINDA CITY
Stunting was a serious public health problem, especially in rural areas in Indonesia. Decision-making was the process of selecting an alternative course of action to achieve a predetermined goal or goal. Household decision-making had a significant impact on stunting prevention, especially in terms of food supply, health, and sanitation. The purpose of the study was to find out how decision-making was carried out and who was the most dominant in decision-making in farming households in the prevention of stunting in Kelurahan Lempake, Kecamatan Samarinda Utara. The study was conducted in Lempake Village, North Samarinda District, from November 2023 to February 2024, with data collected in the form of primary data through questionnaires and secondary data (library studies and related agencies). The sample was taken using random sampling purposive and the sample used was a group of prosperous farm women and a group of 34 respondents of night-time farmers. The methods of data analysis used were qualitative descriptive analysis and tabulation. The results of the study showed that the decision-making process began with the identification of stunting problems and the collection of information on stunting prevention. The husband and wife then jointly chose an alternative action, evaluated the alternative, and finally made a joint decision. This reflected a high awareness of the importance of having accurate information and adequate knowledge in quality decision-making. The decision-making of farming households in the prevention of stunting in Lempake Village showed that the wife's role in food-related decision-making was very dominant in farming households. However, the role of the husband was also involved, even to a lesser extent
THE EFFECT OF Mg(CO3)2 COMPOUND FERTILIZER AND N,P,K FERTILIZER ON THE Mg-EC, PLANT Mg-UPTAKE, AND YIELD OF TOMATO (Solanum lycopersicum L.) ON INCEPTISOLS OF JATINANGOR
Inceptisols is a soil order that has an area of about 70.5 million hectares in Indonesia. The commodity that can be cultivated on Inceptisols is tomatoes. The nutrient content of Inceptisols is classified as low, resulting in decreasing in tomato yield. One of the efforts that can be made to increase the yield of tomatoes is by applying Mg(NO3)2 compound fertilizer. The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of Mg(NO3)2 compound fertilizer on soil exchangeable Mg (Mg-EC), plant Mg-Uptake, and yield of tomato. The experiment was conducted at the Experimental Field of the Laboratory of Soil Chemistry and Plant Nutrition, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinanor, from October to December 2023. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Block Design (RCBD) with six treatments: one treatment without fertilizer, one treatment of the recommended dose of N, P, K fertilizer, four treatments of various doses of Mg(NO3)2 compound fertilizer combined with N, P, K fertilizer with four replications each. The results of the experiment showed that Mg(NO3)2 compound fertilizer had the effect of increasing soil exchangeable Mg (Mg-EC), plant Mg-Uptake, and yield of tomato. The treatment of 1 dose of Mg(NO3)2 compound fertilizer and dose of N, P, K fertilizer showed the best results on soil Mg-EC(3,82 plant Mg-Uptake content (1.23%), number of fruits (268 fruits), fruit diameter (38.15 cm, weight per fruit (36.75 g), and fruit weight per plot (6.13 kg) on Inceptisols Jatinangor
Determination of ProthrombinGene G20210A Mutation in Deep Venous Thrombosis among Sudanese Patients - Khartoum State
Background: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is serious disorders contributing to increased morbidity and mortality worldwide. However, there is, little genetic data from Africa including Sudan. So this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between genetic mutations G20210A in the prothrombin coagulation factor and deep venous thrombosis in Sudanese patients.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study design wascarried out in Khartoum state in the period from December 2014 to May 2018. One hundred of patient group and fifty healthy one were enrolled inthis study. Mutation was detected using conventional PCR depending on restriction enzyme polymorphism technique.
Results: The mutant allele (G/G) was found in 4 (4%) of patients nevertheless, there is no mutant allele was present in control group (P.value=0.152). Moreover, the mixed allele (G/A) was not detected in patients and healthy control.Exclusively, the control group showed only the wild type (A/A).
Conclusion: This study noted a few mutant alleles in patients group and only the wild type (A/A) in control one. However, carrying out a genome-wide associated study is recommended to determine relationship betweenprothrombin gene mutation and frequency of deep vein thrombosisin Sudanese population
KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE OF MENSTURAL HYGIENE ASSESSMENT AMONG FEMALE SUBJECTS IN AGUOBIRI COMMUNITY BAYELSA STATE, NIGERIA
Aim/ Objectives: This study assess the level of knowledge and practice of menstrual hygiene among adolescents and to determine the various menstrual hygiene practices maintain among female subjects between <14 – 19yrs in Aguobiri community. Methods: A cross sectional observational study design was employed in this study with133 structured questionnaires used to generate primary data from the subjects using sampling method. Results: Findings from this study shows that age range of the respondents were<14yrs (18%), 14-17yrs (63.9%) and 18-19yrs (18.1%). Additionally, majority of the respondents were within class of Jss2-SS1 (45%) while farming (34%) was the most predominant occupation of the populace followed by fishing (23%), trading (28%), and civil servants (15%). Regarding hygiene related practice during menstrual period, the study revealed that 32% of the respondents used sanitary pad, 21% pieces of cloth, 12% tissue papers and 7.5% pieces of foam respectively. Furthermore findings from this study shows that 32.3% of the respondents use only water to wash their body after removal of sanitary pad, 39.8% use water and soap, while 21.1% of the respondents cleans their body with tissue papers and 6.8% use none of the above. Regarding how respondents change sanitary pads during menstruation- one per day (39.8%), twice per day (39.8%), trice per day (17.3%), and four per day (3.1%). The observable difference may be attributed to socio-economic condition among the subjects. Conclusion: This study have shown that majority of the respondents have a poor knowledge of good menstrual hygiene. Thus the use of non-sanitary (30.8%) pad by the respondents and its potential risk factors should be discourage through the creation of awareness and enlightenment campaign by health workers in the community and at the state level

When employees perform their duties diligently, the organization which is result oriented may inspired and motivate the employees for them to reach their goals.Psychologists and management experts develop motivation theories to detect factors that motivate an employee.A motivated worker is likely to perform better than an unmotivated member of staff at work, because they derive satisfaction from their professional engagement. Organizationsshould implement motivational theories such as equity theory, two-factor theory, ERG theory, and Vrooms expectancy theory to create a reliable productive workforce
EXISTENCE, STABILITY AND BOUNDEDNESS OF PERIODIC SOLUTIONS FOR CERTAIN NONLINEAR BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM OF FOURTH ORDER ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
In this paper, some new conditions on the existence, stability and boundedness of periodic solutions for certain nonlinear boundary value problems were investigated. Construction of a complete Lyapunov function for higher order differential equations were not all that easy and therefore a new method for investigating and proving the existence, stability and boundedness was considered. The method of Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem provided existence of periodic solutions which depended on the availability of suitable boundedness results. In some cases, boundedness results were very difficult to establish due to the nature of the Lyapunov function involved and the method of the integrated equation was used as a mode for estimating apriori bounds for the fourth order differential equation. The aim of using integrated equation was to amelioriate the technical problems arising from the construction of Lyapunov function for higher order differential equations which was considered to be cumbersome and complex. However, our results generalize and complement some existing results in literature
THE LINK BETWEEN ACCESS TO PRIMARY HEALTHCARE SERVICES AND INFANT MORTALITY IN DEKINA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, KOGI STATE
This study investigated the nexus between access to primary healthcare services and infant mortality in Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State. The specific objectives of the study include to ascertain the state of primary healthcare services, examining the accessibility of primary healthcare services, examining the challenges associated with access to primary healthcare services and the link between access to primary healthcare services and infant mortality in Dekina Local Government Area. Health Belief Model was used as a framework to buttress this study. Survey research design was employed and multi-stage sampling technique was adopted in which the study participants were purposively and systematically selected from the sample of 609 out of 49,234 of the study population of women of child bearing age. Out of the 609 copies of questionnaire administered, 576 were retrieved and analyzed. The reliability and validity of the study was conducted on different measures related to health care services and the questionnaire using cronbach’s alpha with the help of SPSS. Hypotheses formulated were tested using Chi-square and regression. As a result of the state of healthcare centers and their effects on infant mortality in Dekina L.G.A, the findings of the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between access to primary healthcare system and infant mortality in Dekina LGA. Despite the availability of primary healthcare services in Dekina LGA, the service was very poor due to dilapidated nature of PHC centers and non-availability of health professionals at the centers. The findings also revealed that challenges such as transportation, distance, health workers attitude and non-availability of drugs had significant effects on access to primary healthcare services in the study area. The study recommended among others that there is need for a developed, functional and far reaching primary healthcare system in all the rural communities. The available healthcare centers should be given priority by providing high quality health equipment so as to improve or bring quality of service closer to the people for easy access, to save lives and increase life expectancy. In view of the difficulties faced in accessing primary healthcare services as a result of dilapidated nature of the few available ones, there is urgent need for the government to increase budgetary allocation to healthcare system and astate of emergency be declared on all the healthcare centers
Identifying Important Features For Exoplanet Detection: A Machine Learning Approach
The study and discovery of exoplanets (planets outside the solar system) have been a major focus in astronomy. Many efforts have been made to discover exoplanets using ground based and space based observatory, NASA’s Exoplanet Exploration Program being one of them. It has developed modern satellites like Kepler which are capable of collecting large array of data to help researchers with these objects. With the increasing number of exoplanet candidates, identifying and verifying their existence becomes a challenging task. In this research, we propose a statistical and machine learning approach to identify important features for exoplanet identification. For this purpose, we use the Kepler Cumulative Object of Interest (KCOI) dataset. After pre-processing the data we utilize statistical methods namely ANOVA F-test, Mutual Information Gain (MIG), Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) to select the most significant features and have trained 10 state-of-the-art classifiers on them recursively to identify the features that leads to best performance. According to the results of our investigation, classifiers trained on features chosen by Recursive Feature Elimination with Random Forest as estimator produces superior results, with CatBoost classifier being the best with an accuracy of 99.61%. Our findings demonstrate the potential of machine learning in helping astronomers to efficiently and accurately verify exoplanet candidates in large astronomical datasets
ON THE NORM OF JORDAN ELEMENTARY OPERATOR IN TENSOR PRODUCT OF C*-ALGEBRAS
The norm property of different types of Elementary operators has attracted a lot of researchers due to its wide range applications in functional analysis. From available literature the norm of Jordan elementary operator has been determined in C*-algebras, JB*-algebras,standard operator algebra and prime JB*-triple but not much has been done in tensor product of C*-algebras. This paper, dealt with the norm of Jordan elementary operator in a tensor product of C*-algebras. More precisely, the paper investigated the bounds of the norm of Jordan elementary operator in a tensor product of C*-algebras and obtained that The concept of finite rank operator and properties of tensor product of Hilbert spaces and operators and vectors in Hilbert spaces were used to achieve the paper’s objective
Crank-Nicolson Finite Difference Method with Sobolev Space Energy Estimate Theorem for Capital Market Prices
In this study, we have Black-Scholes analytic formula and Crank- Nicolson (CN) finite difference method for valuation of European put option which has earned the interests of researchers for determining both analytic and approximate solutions to Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) with Sobolev space energy estimate theorem. The simulations of analytical and numerical were effectively carried out. The results showed as follows: increase in volatility increases the values of option for both BS and CN prices, there are significant difference between BS and CN due to the changes of stock volatility, a little increase in the initial stock prices significantly increases the value of put option, when the strike price is greater than the initial stock price it increases put option values, Sobolev space energy estimates were used as asset value function to estimate asset prices at different maturity periods. Finally, the graphical solutions and comparisons of other parameters were discussed all in this paper which is informative to investors for the proper investment plans
