Biological, Psychosocial and Maternal-Neonatal Factors as Predictors of Postpartum Depression among Breastfeeding Mothers Attending Chukwuemeka OdumegwuOjukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka
Postpartum depression is a serious but neglected mental health issue that affects women after childbirth, with characterized persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness or emptiness, anxiety, worry, fear, mood swings, feeling disconnected from baby and irritability. It affects mother and child bonding, brings about suicidal thoughts, and thoughts of harming baby. Postpartum symptoms can last from a few weeks to several months or longer.Severity can vary from mild to severe. This can be caused by various underlying predictors like biological, psychosocial and maternal-neonatal factors. Therefore, this study was carried out to find out if biological, psychosocial and maternal-neonatal factors are predictors of postpartum depression among breastfeeding mothers of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka, Anambra State. The purpose of the study was specifically to find out if these factors can predict postpartum depression. Six null hypotheses guided the study. The research design adopted for this study was a correlational research design because it is used to identify patterns and predict outcomes. The population of the study was 440 breastfeeding mothers attending COOUTH, Awka, also the sample size was 209 breastfeeding mothers of COOUTH, Awka, Anambra State. However, only 173 copies of the questionnaires were correctly filled and used for the study. Data were collected using a standardized questionnaire titled Edinburgh Postnatal Depression scale and a structured questionnaire titled Predictors of postpartum depression. This instrument was also validated by three experts all from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The internal constituency was established using Kudder Richardson 0.73, 0.67, 0.67, 0.69,0.77, 0.68 and 0.75 respectively. The research questions were analyzed using simple logistics regression. Null hypotheses were analyzed using regression at 0.05 level of significance. Findings based on the research questions revealed that biological, psychosocial and maternal-neonatal factors are a significantly high predictors of postpartum depression. The findings of the hypotheses tested revealed that there was a positive significant difference in the logistics regression with the predictors, therefore the null hypothesis was rejected. Based on the findings it was recommended that there should be personalized mental health support, adequate sleep management strategies, practice of stress reduction technique, establish trauma informed care training and building of community initiatives

The workplace and evolving ethics for worthwhile productivity in the education sector
This paper focused on the workplace and evolving ethics for worthwhile productivity with a focus on education. This becomes necessary because the education sector is bedevilled with several breaches ranging from insubordination, neglect of duty, physical confrontation, litigation, contempt of duty, examination fraud, misappropriation of funds, witch-hunting, the illegality of different magnitude and other forms of breaches. The paper explained basic concepts such as ethics, workplace ethics, leadership ethics, employees’ ethics, and morality. The project is that ethics are universal and should be observed by all in the workplace, especially in the education sector as it is the muster point for all other institutions and organisations in society. The paper also emphasized that becoming ethically oriented at the workplace is sometimes challenging as people are usually faced with ethical dilemmas; a situation whereby one finds him/herself in a fixed between morality and universal ethics. To overcome such, the paper listed several steps that be followed. The paper concludes that the ethical codes of organisation could be written symbols, cultural norms, religious doctrines, or institutional codes of conduct; what counts is the reflection of those concerned on the specified ethical codes. Since man is so dynamic and different people come together to form organisations, the individuals concerned must go beyond the general organizational ethical behaviour to establish personal ethical behaviour that complements the general goals and objectives if the organizational goals and objectives must be achieved, and the values sustained

Le rôle des interprètes judiciaires dans la garantie d'un procès équitable en RDC
This article presents a thorough analysis of judicial interpretation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), based on personal observations and extensive documentary research. The study highlights various shortcomings, such as the lack of full-time judicial interpreters, the insufficient skills of individuals called upon to perform this role – often bilinguals or randomly selected individuals – and the scarcity of qualified interpreters, due to a lack of appropriate training. The article emphasizes the crucial role of judicial interpreters in ensuring a fair trial, particularly in a country characterized by significant linguistic diversity. While French is the official language in the DRC, a large portion of the population primarily speaks national languages such as Lingala, Kikongo, Tshiluba, or Swahili. Therefore, access to fair justice directly depends on the quality of interpretation services. The analysis also addresses structural challenges related to the absence of specific professional training, the shortage of qualified interpreters, and the lack of clear legal recognition of their status. Finally, this article underscores the importance of effective judicial interpretation in ensuring respect for the rights of litigants and promoting an inclusive and equitable judicial syste

The study revealed that there were moderate lecturers' (staff) perceptions of insecurity threats in higher institutions, there were poor students' perceptions of insecurity threats in higher institutions, and there was poor level of insecurity threats in higher institutions. The study recommended that higher institutions in Sokoto State should continue to enhance their security frameworks by investing in surveillance systems, campus security personnel, and emergency response mechanisms. Higher institutions should establish formal partnerships with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and local vigilante groups in maintaining security. The government should maintain and strengthen its intervention strategies, including funding security initiatives in higher institutions and ensuring the presence of well-equipped security personnel on campuses
Curcuma longa (Turmeric) and Cucumis sativus (Cucumber) Juice Ameliorative Hematological Effects in Lead Induced Toxicity in Male Wistar Rats
Hematological parameters are essential clinical indicators of health status, which are of great research interest. Our study attempts an assessment of the possible ameliorative hematological effects of Turmeric and Cucumber juice in lead induced toxicity using male Wistar rats as models. Experimental animals were acclimatized for 2 weeks and were subsequently randomly distributed into five groups made up of five rats per group. Lead toxicity was induced through a single daily oral administration of 2.25mg/kg body weight of lead in all rat groups except groups1 and 7 for 28 days and were treated as follows: Group 1: Control; animals in this group had free access to tap water and normal rat chow at will. Group 2: Pb only; animals in this group received 2.25mg/kg bw of lead acetate only. Group 3: Pb + TUM; rats in this group got 1ml of Turmeric juice only following induction of lead toxicity. Group 4: Pb + CUC; animals in this group were given 1ml of Cucumber juice only following induction of lead toxicity. Group 5: Pb + TUM + CUC; animals in this group received 1ml of Turmeric and 1ml of Cucumber juice following induction of lead toxicity. Group 6: Pb + bioferon; animals in this group received 0.23ml/kg body weight dose of bioferon following lead induced toxicity. Group 7: Bioferon Only; animals in this group received 0.23ml/kg body weight dose of bioferon only. All administrations were orally carried out once a day in the morning hours (between 8am-9am) using oral cannula. On day 29, experimental animals were anesthetized using diethyl ether and blood samples taken via cardiac puncture for serum erythrocyte parameters (PCV, Hb and RBC) and total WBC and PLT counts determination. Assayed parameters were assessed using a reflotron produced by Boehringer Mannhein. Predictably, administration of 2.25mg/kg bw of lead acetate to group 2 (Pb Only) rats produced a significant reduction (p<0.05) in PCV, Hb, RBC, WBC and PLT counts when compared to group 1 (Control) rats. This is suggestive of a possible deleterious effect of lead acetate at the administered dose. However, administration of 1ml each of turmeric and cucumber juice respectively significantly increased (p<0.05) the above parameters amongst groups 3 (Pb + TUM) and 4 (Pb + CUC) rats when compared to group 2 (Pb Only) rats with turmeric showing a better effect. Significantly higher (p<0.05) values of PCV, Hb, RBC, WBC, and platelet counts were observed amongst group 5 (Pb + TURM + CUC) rats co-administered 1ml each of both turmeric and cucumber juice, compared togroups1 (Control), 2 (PbOnly), 3 (Pb + TUM) and 4 (Pb + CUC) rats. Indicating a possible greater hematopoietic effect of the combined administration of both juices compared to single administration of either juice. Our findings suggest a possible synergistic effects of the juices on haematological indices when combined following lead administration in experimental rats
