Health seeking behavior (HSB) is indirectly one of the predictors of health status of individuals, because it is the fulcrum of health behavior, a core determinant of health which contributes a whopping forty percent to overall health. Maintaining a healthy academic environment among other things demands an awareness of the HSB pattern of students. The study aimed to determine the HSB pattern of students of FUO and the major factors that influence it. In this cross-sectional study, 391 students participated and questionnaires were used as study instruments. Eight indicators including tendency to seek formal healthcare were used to determine the appropriateness or otherwise of HSB. Logistic regression and descriptive statistics were used as statistical measures while SPSS version 22 and Excel were used in the analysis. Among the key findings, 58.46% of the respondents exhibited appropriate HSB. The greatest barrier to visiting the university clinic was frequent lack of drugs, while lack of funds to pay for medical bills was the highest barrier to getting treatment in other hospitals other than the university clinic. Gender (p-value=0.4723, OR=0.7928) and access to clinic (p-value=0.5661, OR=1.229) did not show any association with HSB while parents’ level of education, severity of illness and socio-economic status were significantly associated with HSB. Respondents patronized pharmacy (62.56%) more than any other healthcare facility within Otuoke community. The key determinants of HSB turned out to be the parents’ level of education, seriousness of illness and financial state of students. Notwithstanding the slightly higher level of appropriate HSB, inappropriate HSB remained substantial in the study population

The study concluded that enhancing farmers’ access to financial services and implementing supportive government policies could significantly improve their financial behavior, productivity, and overall standard of living. Policy recommendations were made that provision of accessible loan facilities through microfinance banks and policy reforms should be made to promote rural savings and investments.&nbsp

Lateral Epicondylitis: Epidemiology, Occupational Risk Factors, and Public Health Implications

    Get PDF
Lateral epicondylitis, commonly known as tennis elbow, is a prevalent musculoskeletal disorder characterized by pain and tenderness on the lateral aspect of the elbow, often linked to repetitive strain of the extensor carpi radialis brevis tendon. While frequently associated with sports, it is more commonly observed in working-age adults engaged in repetitive, forceful, or awkward upper limb activities. The condition affects approximately 1–3% of the population annually, with a peak incidence in individuals aged 35–54 years. Occupational risk factors include repetitive wrist and forearm motions, forceful exertions, vibration exposure, and poor ergonomic conditions, particularly in manual labor and certain service industries. Lateral epicondylitis contributes significantly to work-related disability, lost productivity, and healthcare costs, underscoring its importance as a public health concern. Effective management involves a combination of conservative treatment, ergonomic workplace interventions, and early diagnosis. Public health strategies should focus on prevention through ergonomic education, job redesign, and occupational health surveillance to mitigate the personal and economic burden of this condition

The rapid advancement of digital technology particularly Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) is driving major innovation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), especially within Indonesian madrasahs. This study aims to provide the first comprehensive synthesis of international and national literature (2015–2024) on the integration of AR/VR in IRE within the Indonesian madrasa context, with a focus on both the transformative potential and the practical challenges of implementation. Adopting a narrative review approach, this research systematically analyzes empirical studies, theoretical papers, and policy documents retrieved from reputable scientific databases. Data were collected through structured literature searches and selected using inclusion criteria emphasizing relevance, methodological rigor, and recency. Thematic analysis was then employed to identify key patterns related to learning innovation, infrastructural readiness, pedagogical adaptation, and regulatory frameworks. The results demonstrate that AR/VR can significantly enrich religious learning by fostering interactive experiences, increasing student engagement with Islamic concepts, and broadening access to authentic, context-rich educational resources. However, the adoption of these technologies in Indonesian madrasahs remains hindered by inadequate infrastructure, gaps in digital literacy among teachers and students, curriculum alignment issues, and context-specific ethical concerns. The findings reveal a persistent divide between global technological advancements and the realities of local implementation. This review underscores the need for the development of contextualized pedagogical frameworks, comprehensive teacher training, and robust policy support to facilitate equitable and meaningful AR/VR integration. By offering critical analysis and strategic recommendations, this study advances academic discourse and provides actionable guidance for policymakers, educators, and technology developers in realizing transformative, value-based Islamic education through immersive technologies

    Get PDF
The study investigated the effect of foreign direct investment and exchange rate on the Nigerian economic growth. The Secondary data used include the aggregate annual time series at current prices for gross domestic product, GDP, INTR, INFLR, EXR, and total net inflows for Foreign Direct Investment, FDI covering the period 1980-2022. The study made used Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model (ARDL) to determine both the short-run and the long-run relationship between the variables. The coefficient of determination (R2) showed the percentage of variations in the dependent variable that can be explained by the independent variables. The R2 of 0.997101 or 99% showed that Economic development can be explained by changes in the explanatory variables as shown in the model and the remaining 1% is explained by the dummy variable. The F-statistic which measures the overall significance of the model indicated that it is significant at 5%. This is indicated by the F-statistics and its probability (44.85634 and 0.004642) respectively. We therefore conclude that there is a significant relationship between foreign direct investment and exchange rate on economic growth in Nigeria. The study recommends among other things that Government should give tax holiday to the newly established industries, as that will encourage indigenous industry thereby leading to economic growth, government also needs to subsidies industrial farm inputs as such will help producers to produce goods at affordable prices thereby reducing inflation in the economy

    Get PDF
The construction industry in South-South Nigeria faces significant challenges in achieving timely and cost-effective project delivery, primarily due to inefficiencies in procurement cycles and delivery tracking systems. This study investigates the impact of procurement cycle times on delivery tracking in selected construction projects within the region, addressing key challenges, evaluating the role of optimized procurement processes, and proposing practical solutions. Utilizing a correlational research design, data were collected from 208 respondents across top, middle, and lower management levels in construction projects using a validated five-point Likert scale questionnaire. Findings reveal that procurement inefficiencies, including delayed decisions, inadequate vendor assessment, and lack of transparency, significantly contribute to supply chain disruptions and project delays. The linear regression analysis (R² = 0.986, p < 0.000) confirms a strong positive relationship between procurement cycle times and delivery tracking, rejecting the null hypothesis that procurement cycle times do not impact delivery tracking. Key challenges identified include logistical constraints, unreliable suppliers, and limited technological adoption. Optimized procurement processes enhance vendor selection, cost management, and delivery tracking accuracy, improving overall project performance. The study proposes adopting digital procurement platforms, real-time tracking technologies, standardized protocols, and capacity-building initiatives to address these challenges. These findings contribute to the body of knowledge on construction management in developing economies, offering actionable strategies to enhance procurement efficiency and delivery tracking in South-South Nigeria

Modeling and Simulation of Typhoid Fever Using a Fractional-Order Approach with the Generalized Adams–Bashforth–Moulton Method

    Get PDF
We consider the epidemiological characteristics of Typhoid fever infection in this paper in the equation of a fractional-order mathematical model in Caputo derivative. The interventions that are employed in the model to control the disease include treatment and vaccination to investigate the impact of the controls on the dynamics of the disease. The existence and uniqueness of solutions under the frame of the fractional order and the stability of the endemic equilibrium point are defined and tested by the theory of Lyapunov functions. The model is numerically determined by using the fractional Adams-Bashforth-Moulton algorithm to point out the modification of the model parameters and the fractional orders of the model parameters into the influence of each of the above parameters on the disease progression. It has been demonstrated by the use of simulation that increased treatment and vaccination of the disease reduces the prevalence of Typhoid fever, and indicates the high degree of flexibility and realism of the fractional-order models compared to the classical integer order equations. The significance of fractional modeling in the description of the interactions between the effects of memory and nonlocal interaction between the biological systems is identified in the paper, and this improves the comprehension and management of infectious diseases. The model however presupposes that the population is homogeneous mixed and hypothetical values of the parameters therefore inhibits empirical validation. In order to render the model more predictive and applicable in practice in the development of effective control strategies on Typhoid fever, future investigations should be able to incorporate the spatial heterogeneity, stochastic effects
