    Get PDF
This phenomenological study explored the job-seeking experiences of Hospitality Management graduates from the Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), Eastern Visayas, Philippines. Using Braun and Clarke’s (2006) thematic analysis, data from 11 graduates were analyzed, yielding four key themes: (1) Mixed Emotions in the Transition Period, (2) Taking Action Amidst Uncertainty, (3) Expectations Shattered by Reality, and (4) PIT as a Source of Preparation and Identity. Findings revealed that graduates navigated the post-graduation stage with a blend of pride and anxiety, shaped by the pressures of employment uncertainty. While pragmatic strategies such as processing documents, interim work, and skills training supported adaptation, participants encountered systemic barriers including employer preference for experienced hires, stiff competition, and financial burdens in job applications. Importantly, PIT’s academic preparation, OJT programs, and TESDA certifications were perceived as crucial in developing applied skills, professional identity, and confidence. Graduates also highlighted the importance of soft skills, discipline, and adaptability in sustaining employability. The study concludes that employability outcomes are influenced not only by technical expertise but also by transferable skills and institutional support. Recommendations are directed toward enhancing curriculum–industry linkages, addressing the “experience paradox,” and expanding policy interventions to ease graduate transitions

    Get PDF
This phenomenological study explored how business educators navigate curriculum alignment with technology, globalization, and sustainability within the framework of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). The research engaged 11 faculty members in business-related programs through purposive sampling and written interviews. Thematic analysis revealed key dispositional themes: adaptive mindset toward technological integration, global awareness and cultural sensitivity, commitment to sustainability and ethical responsibility, resilience amidst institutional constraints, and an equity-oriented perspective on digital access. While emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, and data analytics are acknowledged, curriculum integration remains partial due to systemic barriers like limited faculty training, rigid approval processes, digital divide, and lack of institutional support. Strategies currently employed—such as case studies, simulations, and localized examples—are often hindered by outdated infrastructure and inconsistent faculty readiness. ESG principles are present but treated peripherally, calling for deeper, systemic embedding. The study concludes that full TPACK integration is essential to equip educators with the ability to deliver globally competitive, technologically fluent, and sustainability-driven business education. It recommends targeted professional development, curricular innovation, and infrastructure investments to bridge existing gaps. These insights provide guidance for policymakers, academic leaders, and faculty in transforming business education to meet 21st-century demands

    Get PDF
Conflict is a normal aspect of organizational life, especially in environments with diverse individuals. However, when conflict remains unresolved, it can lead to emotional stress, workplace politicization, and a shift away from the organization’s mission. If responsible offices delay intervention, issues may escalate into discrimination or harassment complaints, harming both employee well-being and the organization’s reputation.. This study examines the implications of “setting aside”—a term that reflects the deferment or deprioritization of conflict-related cases. More than a procedural delay, it symbolizes systemic inaction in conflict resolution. The research highlights how such delays diminish trust in institutional processes and allow organizational dysfunction to persist. Using a scenario adapted from a completed case study, the researcher explores how delayed responses affect interpersonal dynamics and organizational culture. The findings stress the importance of timely, fair, and transparent conflict resolution mechanisms. When offices tasked with addressing conflict fail to act promptly, they inadvertently contribute to deeper divisions and long-term damage. This study aims to inform conflict management practices by advocating for institutional accountability and proactive resolution strategies that uphold organizational integrity and employee welfare

This study sought to determine the effect of a model-based inquiry instructional technique on critical thinking skill acquisition of pre-service integrated science teachers. Two research questions and three hypotheses that were tested at 0.05 level of significance guided the study. Quasi- experimental design was used for the study because intact classes were used. The population of the study consisted of all the pre-service integrated science teachers in Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in the only Federal College of Education and the two State Colleges of Education in Delta State numbering forty-three (43). The sample of the study consisted of thirty-eight (38) pre-service integrated science teachers in the only Federal College of Education and one of the State Colleges of Education which was selected using purposive sampling technique in order to train more pre-service teachers. The two Colleges of Education (one Federal and one State) were randomly assigned to 5E’s model based inquiry instructional technique and demonstration method of instruction using toss of coin. The study was necessitated due to the need to equip pre-service integrated science teachers with appropriate skills as specified in the new minimum standard. Hence, it became necessary to expose the male and female pre-service integrated science teachers toa model-based inquiry instructional technique in order to equip them for the task ahead. The Test of Critical Thinking (TOCT) developed by the researchers and found to be valid and reliable were used for data collection. The groups received pre-test and post-test independently. The research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation while Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed that 5E’s model -based inquiry was more efficacious than the demonstration method of instruction in bringing about pre- service integrated science teachers’ critical thinking skill acquisition required for the 21st century amongst others. Based on the findings it was recommended amongst others that the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) should incorporate 5E’s model -based inquiry instructional strategy in the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) minimum standard

The solar photovoltaic (PV) panel is one of the fundamental components that are used to harness the operation of solar power system. However, its performance is dependent greatly on certain environmental factors and location. This research was focused to investigate the effect of black soot on the output efficiency of solar photovoltaic (PV) panel. The basic studies and operational activity was carried out at a building located in Agbor, Delta State, Nigeria (longitude 6.201883 N and latitude 5.6037 E and 86.16m elevations above the sea level). The major materials used for this research include the following; two (2) monocrystalline solar panels (one served as a control ‘clean’ while the other as a device under test ‘sooty’ and  a multimeter.  The multimeter was used to measure parameters like: short-circuit current ISC and open-circuit voltage VOC while the output power and percentage (%) losses were computed using the measured values. This operation was carried out for a period of three (3) months and the mean values were obtained. From the obtained values, the maximum value of VOC for the control module is 35.7V at12 midday while the corresponding value for the sooty module is 34.3V at the same time. Typically, the total daily output power for the control module was 7103.15W while the corresponding value for the sooty solar module was 4827.38W. This presents 32.04% loss in the power output due to black soot on the surface of the solar panel. Cumulatively, the total output power loss daily ranges from 32.04% to 63.90%
