Datei-Upload durch TIBThe project KI Absicherung aimed at developing a stringent and iterative approach and methodology for a novel evidence-based safety argumentation that systematically identifies insufficiencies of AI-based functions, makes them measurable and allows to mitigate them. As an exemplary use case, a video and AI-based based pedestrian detection function was used. For this purpose, the project was structured into five sub-projects (TP1: DNN-based pedestrian detection algorithms; TP2: synthetic data generation & data analysis; TP3: DNN assurance methods & measures; TP4: Comprehensive Assurance Strategy; TP5: Project Mgmt. and Dissemination) and five cross-sub-project processes (P1-P5) in which the 24 project partners and 4 external technology providers collaboratively participated in the development of the different project deliverables. Additionally, within six evidence workstreams (EWS) each consisting of a working group of AI developers, testers and safety experts, fragments of the safety argumentation were created on an exemplary basis by identifying, prioritizing, and applying appropriate safety-aware metrics, safety-oriented test-methods and safety-measures to mitigate possible DNN-specific safety concerns and DNN-insufficiencies. Core results from the project work with Bosch participation and main contributions of Robert Bosch GmbH are explained in this report

Datei-Upload durch TIBThis report is the final report of the research project “Analysis and external validation of the AC² model basis (AVAMO)” funded under the grant number BMUV 1501629 by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection and performed by PSS group at RUB. The aim of the project is the detailed analysis and vali-dation of the program package AC² and the modules COCOSYS, ATHLET and ATHLET-CD contained therein for the calculation of accident-relevant in- and ex-vessel phenomena. The most important results of the separate work packages are presented in this report. As part of the AC² - COCOSYS work package, the capability of the code for modelling the combustion of hydrogen and carbon monoxide is investigated. New correlations of the burning rate are tested and a concept for the separation of unburnt and burnt atmospheres is devel-oped. Further on, the simulation of phenomena during molten core concrete interaction is carried out considering a flooded melt. In addition, the aerosol behaviour in the containment is verified and analysed with the newly implemented AFP2 module (formerly known as NEWAFP) by the simulation of the PHEBUS FPT3 experiment with the current code version. The work complements the validation work carried out by the code developer GRS using the PHEBUS FPT1 experiment (BMUV RS1579). In addition to validating the AFP2 module, simulations will be carried out using the GRS software SUSA, and analyses of the accident in block 3 of the nuclear power plant Fukushima Daiichi are conducted. For AC²-ATHLET, a detailed analysis of the implemented condensation models and an inves-tigation of the capability of the models regarding the simulation of water hammer phenomena in two-phase flow conditions will be carried out. A harmonisation of the model basis is exam-ined and development potential for AC² - ATHLET is derived based on accompanying CFD simulations. Regarding the work carried out with AC²-ATHLET-CD, the focus is on the validation and further development of the code for simulating core degradation phenomena. This includes the simu-lation of fission product release from melt pools in the lower reactor plenum. Further on, new preliminary models and correlations for the simulation of accident tolerant fuel (ATF) concepts are further developed and analysed. In addition, the code will be extended for modelling debris beds in the lower reactor plenum

Manufacturing computer chips involves creating incredibly small and intricate patterns on silicon wafers. Ensuring the accuracy of these microscopic features is critical to the performance and reliability of the chips. Optical scatterometry, a technique that uses light scattering to measure these features, is essential for this quality control process. However, traditional scatterometry methods face challenges: iterative fitting methods are slow, while library search methods require enormous amounts of data. This project investigated the use of deep learning to overcome these limitations and significantly accelerate optical scatterometry. Deep learning, a powerful form of artificial intelligence, can learn complex relationships from data. In this project, a specific type of deep learning network called ResNet was trained using simulated optical measurements. These simulations mimic how light scatters off the microscopic features on a chip. By analyzing this scattered light, the ResNet learns to predict crucial parameters describing the features' shape and dimensions, such as their width, height, and the angles of their sidewalls. The research compared various ResNet architectures and strategies for handling the prediction process. One strategy, called UniNet, uses a single network to predict all parameters simultaneously. Another, called MonoNet, uses separate networks for each parameter, predicting them one at a time. A third approach, ExpertNet, uses a combination of networks to predict groups of related parameters. The findings showed that MonoNet offers the best performance overall, successfully decoupling the parameters and achieving high accuracy with smaller datasets. Further more, real-world measurements are always affected by noise and uncertainties. This research explicitly examined the impact of noise on the deep learning models' performance. By adding simulated noise to the training data, the researchers could assess the robustness of the different network architectures. The results provide valuable insights into developing more reliable and accurate measurement techniques, even in the presence of real-world imperfections

Datei-Upload durch TIBThe cooperative project KI Datatooling was carried out as part of the BMWI/BMWK programme "New Vehicle and System Technologies" (NFST) and the Federal Government’s AI strategy. The aim of the project was to map a systematic methodology of a data operation workflow, as well as to develop individual innovative method modules that are able to provide cost-effective and reliable data for training and validation of AI-based functions. For this purpose, methods and tool approaches for the generation as well as for the preparation and selection of corresponding data were developed. The methods were mapped in a systematic workflow architecture, through which the relevance of the methodologies for covering the data and tooling requirements of the resulting standard ISO PAS 8800 could be evaluated. In order to ensure the applicability of these data and methods, they were evaluated with regard to their suitability for training AI algorithms. As a further result of the project, a data set with a wide range of applications has been created. The AI data tooling project thus addresses two of the twelve fields of action that the Federal Government has defined to shape the use of AI in Germany and Europe: On the one hand, the aim is to strengthen research in Germany and Europe in order to make data and data solutions usable in such a way that the required quantity ("big data") and availability (for example, the use of synthesis, anonymization, data processing and enrichment) can be represented and the central tasks of the development but above all also the protection of these data-driven AI algorithms can be implemente
