    Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal has put forwarded his legendry work for the renaissance of Muslims in the form of seven lectures, titled "Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam". The sixth lecture "The Principle of Movement in the Structure of Islam" deals with "Ijtihad" its importance and need of the hour. This lecture also provides psychological motivation to the Muslims to think and reshape their thought regarding contemporary affairs of Islam. Moreover, detailed history of reluctance for Ijtehad in Islam is also discussed in it. Keeping in view the importance of this lecture, it has been translated into Urdu to facilitate the Urdu readers to understand its content

    Maulvi Abdul Haq, a mentor, a scholar and a linguist, is popularly known as "Baba-e-Urdu". Held in high esteem amongst intellectuals, educationalists and scholars, Baba-e-Urdu is praised for his work in promoting Urdu as a unifying medium. His entire life was dedicated for the development, survival and conservation of Urdu language. He put his heart and soul for the uplift of Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu, an intellectual organization. Today, Urdu, Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu and Maulvi Abdul Haq are considered synonymns. When the cause of the Anjuman was severely damaged by his own nominees, Baba-e-Urdu, on April 2, 1959, wrote a letter to General Muhammad Ayub Khan requesting him to save the Anjuman. The Chief Martial Law Administrator of Pakistan issued Martial Law Order No.21 on October 9, 1959. This act of the President was greatly lauded by the academia and literary circles as well as by the national newspapers and journals; declaring it a timely and appropriate action for the improvement and reformation of the affairs of Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu.     Parveen Shakir stands supreme among the celebrated female Urdu poets. She not only promoted the artistic traditions of Urdu poetry but also made valuable addition to it. She met a sad demise in a roadside accident. Her four books of poetry entitled Khushbu, Sadd-berg, Khud Kalami and Inkar were published and later compiled into one volume named Maah-e-Tamaam. Khushbu is her first collection of poetry. This publication earned her great acclaim. The theme of Khushbu revolves around the feelings and sentiments of a young girl. The initial poems express the pain of inaccessibility experienced by the girl. Later in the book she is found cherishing the yearned union. Eventually she is doomed to get separated from the beloved. So, the motifs of union and separation recur in the book. And this is considered to be the essence of Khushbu

    The teaching of Urdu was started in Turkey in 1915. Istanbul University was the pioneer in this effort. The love of Turks for Urdu was the basic reason. During the last one hundred years, the teaching of Urdu language and literature has spread and so there are the full fledged Urdu departments in three Turkish universities i.e., Istanbul, Ankara and Konia. Department of Urdu, Istanbul University, in collaboration with Istanbul City Govt. held an International seminar to commemorate 100 years of Urdu teaching on 12-14 Oct 2015. Dr. Azmat Rubab and Dr. M. K. Ashraf participated in this Seminar. This paper was presented during this Seminar. It gives a survey of the Urdu language and literature teaching carried out in these Universities during this period

    "Asad Muhammad Khan is one of the most prominent Urdu fiction writers of the modern era. He has presented the true picture of the poverty, hunger, politics, conflicts among sects, historical events and the social issues of the modern era. He has raised his voice against the social injustices and the exploitation of women in his fiction. His fiction shows the real problems of their lives and the unequal behaviour of the society which was treated with them. Asad Muhammad Khan depicts how a woman becomes dead alive when she suffers at the hands of poverty and the bitter attitudes of the society.
