مشرق اور مغرب کے معیاراتِ تنقید کا تصادم اور انجذاب

It has been argued in this treatise that eastern and western attitudes to literary criticism cannot be one, or even similar. All efforts by writers/critics of the Indo-Pakistani sub-continent to absorb western philosophies or methodologies have ended in a fiasco. None of the Urdu writers from Hali down to the moderns has ever been able to apply, successfully, any western critical methodology to a creative writing in Urdu. It is not that they were not able critics. It is because eastern and western ways of thinking and feeling are drastically different from each other. Consequently literature produced in eastern societies and representing our cultural values cannot be evaluated by applying theories or methodologies developed in a different system of philosophical, cultural and social values. Hence this is a futile activity and must be abandoned altogether.

This article focuses on the poem ‘The Wasteland’ by T.S.Eliot. It demonstrates the artistic skill in which Eliot enables the readers to make a journey through this wasteland in the guidance and company of Tieresias. The article throws light on the theme of spiritual bareness prevailing in the modern age through analysis of various literary techniques such as allusions, juxtapositions, images and symbols used in the poem. This journey through the five parts of the poem ends in the optimistic note that through the renunciation of this worldly self the lustful sexuality of the wasteland may some day be redeemed

Bari Aleig was a great intellectual, a renowned journalist and a moving spirit behind the great Progressive Writers' Movement in Urdu Literature. He is considered to be a socialist by a group of critics and friends. His personality and works have been however misinterpreted on account of his support of socialism and socialist revolution in Russia. It has been attempted to show in this paper that on account of his personal circumstances, he championed the cause of socialism because he thought it was in tune with the true spirit of his religion, Islam. Hence his ideology and personal life history have been re-visited in this article to prove that he understood the true spirit of Islam and did not think that there was any opposition between it and socialism. This is the main reason why he was a staunch socialist, without being an atheist. In fact, he was at heart a devout Muslim and a great believer in his religion, Islam.

Arabic is one of the major languages of world. Nouns showing numbers in Arabic are of three kinds: Singular, Dual and Plural. The Singulars refer to only one thing for which they were made. The dual conceptualizes that the particular  word denotes two things. The plurals give meanings to more than two (dual). The Arabs are of the habit of using different words for a thing on account of its minor differences. For examples, The Arabic equivalent of Sword is 'saif' (سیف).  The Arabs use different words for the same thing in case of minor changes found in it.  If the sword has shining brightness, they call it 'seiquel' ( صیقل).  If it is sharp enough, they call it (صارم), and if the sword's cutting character is prominent, they call it 'Qatey' (قاطع).  The Arabs use several singular words for a singular thing due to its changing conditions or qualities.  The same formula is applied to the things indicating duality (تثنیۃ ). This paper presents the Arabic duals which refer to day and night (اللیل والنھار). We are going to present twenty six Arabic duals in this regard to show the vastness of Arabic vocabulary in it dual forms

These include kishen chand, Haider Bakhsh Jatoi, Shiekh Ayaz whose work has been particularly cited here. Moreover the paper also throws a cursory glance at criticism on Iqbal

Cognitive Neuroscience In Second Language Acquisition

In the investigation of the morphosyntactic development of the English verb, this study examines whether or not the cognitive neuroscience has any role in the acquisition of the inflectional category by L2 learners from the beginning, that is, if the functional category I exists in L2 grammars from the earliest stages which is guided by some pre-programmed sequence guided by mental cognition. Furthermore, this study will also reveal some striking facts from Urdu pronouns which show some acquisition problems in the syntactic representation of English grammar. We adopted the hypotheses that the acquisition of the English inflectional morphology develops in brain similarly across all L2 learners in which the functional category I is present in the L2 grammars from the beginning, but the features [+tense, +agr] of I develop separately over time. The study of syntactic development proceeds with the framework of the Government-Binding Theory (Chomsky 1981, 1986). The data were drawn from random sample of 240 normally distributed population learning English as their second language cross-sectionally  (from different groups of L2 learners, where each group was exposed to a specific teaching time, that is, of interest for us) in classes at school
