National language of Pakistan is also frequently used as a Lingua Franca throughout Pakistan. It is used as a medium of instruction from nursery to Ph.D. level for the teaching of various subjects at different institutions. In Punjab, it is being taught as a compulsory subject from nursery class to intermediate level in public institutions. However, strange hypocritical behaviour is being observed for the teaching of Urdu compulsory. It is a universal truth that each normal student often learns the primary skills ''Listening amp; Speaking'' of his/her mother tongue e.g; Punjabi, Seraiki, Pothohari, Hindko, Mewati and Rohtaki etc. for communication purposes before seeking his/her admission in a formal school. There, they are directly taught the secondary skills "Reading amp; Writing" of Urdu language and primary skills are generally ignored. In this way, they cannot get full command over four skills of Urdu and consequently show a lingual deficiency. In this article, both parts of text book of Urdu compulsory for intermediate classes are analyzed and criticized in the perspective of its prose and verse contents. It has tried to establish the point that the content does not meet the social, cultural and lingual requirements of the students. Urdu Autobiography achieved the status of creative art at the end of 19th century. Before this, biographical notes and diaries of kings of Hindustan written in Persian Language became the source for the development of this genre. The discussion about personal details of life and bio data of renowned poets of Urdu had been written in Persian Language. In the writings of kings, there was nothing except the adventures of their personal life and details about the circumstances of Royal Palace. Furthermore, even the poetry of that era reveals the inflated merits of kings just to appease them and to seek their favour where as all the aspects of public life were utterly ignored. In 20th century there are so many remarkable autobiographies written before and after partition which gained popularity for their eloquent style. There are different opinions about first autobiography in Urdu. In the present article, it has been critically analyzed that which autobiography has firstly been written in Urdu language. From beginning to 21st century, approximately four hundred autobiographies written by literary celebrities and non-literary writers such as high military officials, politicians and bureaucrats. A brief review of these autobiographies is also being reproduced in the following lines

Muhammad Hussain Azad is considered as architect of Urdu prose. All his books are very famous and well accepted. "Tazkaratul Ullama" is also one of his books, but has been discussed very little. This book is out of print now. In 1922, Azad's grandson Agha Tahir shared its existence with Kh. Hasan Nizami,who advised him to get it published . In 1923, the book was published from Lahore. In this article "Tazkaratul Ullama" is being reviewed with a brief introduction and focusing main features of the matter for further study

Manto had not developed the habit to follow the bounded ways of others due to his temper of mercurial and revolutionary thoughts. In his capacity he had egoism and innovations like Ghalib. He had also some tendency of Sir Syed, like finality and argumentation. The narration of Bari Aleeg is very important who firstly motivated Manto towards enlightening and moderation. Manto deeply studied the western literature and also had deep roots in the Eastern literature. Manto inculcate techniques and gibe from the Eastern prose writers and board mindedness from the art of imagination/art of amuse from western literature. Under the influence of Bari Aleeg, Manto was impressed by the revolutionary writers of France and Russia. We see his essays like Mulkane Gorki, Karl Marks, Red revolutions etc. are based on socialist ideology. There was a clear influence of Vector Hogo and Maupassant in the Manto's writing. Manto have command on the human psychology and his deep vision to observe the different characters. He introduced symbolic manner in his style. Manto was affected by psychological and political tendencies of that era; particularly he was influenced by Pakistan movement. Later on the partition of Punjab and human killings also influenced his writings. Manto in formation of his writings accepted different tendencies, movements and personalities influenced only upto that stage where his individuality and egoism permit him. In short we can say that Manto was inspired by the personalities, philosophies, movements and tendencies but his personal and individual color sabotaged every one

It is a misunderstanding that feminist point of view has been introduced by "Literary Theory" of late sixties. Progressive writers like Dr. Rashid Jahan, Ismat Chughtai, Khadija Mastoor and other presented the women self in their writings. Noon Meem Rashid is considered to be father of modernism in Urdu poetry. He rebelled against the traditional form of "Ghazal" and became the first major exponent of "free verse".
