    Just like a people of the whole world who are divided into different families, clans and nations despite being the offspring’s of one Adam, the languages that they speak also appear to have the same origin despite having various kinds and like the people who speak them have associations and relationship. Allah has called the variations and disparities of languages one of his signs (Surah Room, Ayat No. 22). There is a deep connection between philology and anthropology. Whenever the history of a language is studies, then human race was mentioned first that used to peak or speak that language. In this regards, those economical, cultural and social conditions were also studied as they are one of the factors and elements that influence a language.  The paper under consideration would focus on the linguistic similarities of Urdu and Punjabi, and the reasons for these similarities would not be discussed as it will be a long account which cannot be expressed in a few pages. While pinpointing the linguistic similarities of Urdu and Punjabi, only structural, phonetics amp; seismology from selected chapters would be presented as a whole book would be required to write on every aspect and every chapter of this topic

    Sir Syed Ahmad Khan emerged as a key leader of the Indian Muslim community after 1857. Although soon after 1857, he remained the follower of the unity of Muslims and Hindus and always referred to Indian nationalism but in the end it is he who has been credited for originating the two-nation theory followed by the Aligarh Movement. His famous magazine "Tehzeeb ul Akhlaq" promoted the same thesis. He made this magazine an effective instrument to acknowledge the theological link between Muslims and their colonial masters and to bring them close. He tried to uplift the thoughts of Muslim nation regarding culture, education, religion and politics through "Tehzeeb ul Akhlaq". A comprehensive review of Sir Syed's intellectual services and the task of "Tehzeeb ul Akhlaq" to fortify the Muslims of India in every aspect of life has been thrashed out in this paper

    A Pragmatic Analysis of Married Couples Conversation in a Television Serial ‘Nijat’

    Language is the basic feature of any society which reflects its social norms and culture. The language patterns vary from culture to culture and the concept of gender is the key factor in this scenario. There is an immense diversity in the language behavior of men and women. The current study aims at finding out the language patterns of both men and women with particular reference to the Pakistani society. Generally in a Pakistani society, men enjoy more power in all affairs of life whereas, women have a secondary status in different domains of life. A famous Pakistani television serial ‘Nijat’ is taken as a sample to explore the differences in language used by married couples belonging to upper and lower social classes during their conversation. The sample is taken from the media keeping in mind the fact that media is representative of the realities of life prevailing in the society. The findings of the present study show that males from the lower class in the role of husband use more FTAs, initiate and ask more questions, whereas females from the same class in the role of wives use more FSAs and submissive language while talking to each other. On the other hand, husband and wife belonging to upper class enjoy equal status and use FTAs, initiate questions on the equal basis during their conversation.

    The significance of historical figures in history has been debated. Many consider their role crucial while others consider they have little impact in human progress and in altering the course of history. The presentation   of historical figures in fiction is a difficult job where facts and fancy are combined. Among the historical figures Sultan Muhammad Fatih was one of the greatest figures in history. He conquered Constantinople and brought an end to the Byzantine Empire. This great historical figure has been presented by Pakistani Urdu novelists in their novels. They took care to be accurate when describing what they knew about this historical figure and his action. They tried not to deviate from the history and less relied on their imagination while presenting him in the novel.  The present article discusses the accuracy of historical facts cited by Pakistani Urdu novelists while presenting this great historical figure in their novel

    The current research aims at exploring the status of Urdu and English in Pakistan. There has always been a rift between Urdu and English in order to stay dominant language in the spheres of power like education, law and bureaucracy in Pakistan. There were many steps taken to replace English practically and the latest of the plans was initiated in 2015 to replace Urdu with English as an official language. This necessitated the current research to re-assess the role of Urdu and English in this phase of transition. The data for the current research was collected by using interview protocol. A sample of 60 participants selected through purposive sample took part in the collection of data. The interview protocol comprised questions on the aspects like the importance of the language, the academic value of the language and the future of that language. The study concludes that the people understand the role of Urdu in the context of nation-wide connection while English is source of connecting with the world. English enjoys better academic value as well as better future prospects in comparison with Urdu

    Historical Evolution of Shia Urdu Majalis in Pakistan

    Shia majalis is a broad term which encompasses variety of religious gatherings adorned with diversity of speech acts. In Pakistan, Shia majalis are performed into different lingual and cultural backgrounds. Urdu majalis surpass the rest of lingual expressions in the popularity and number of performances. This paper, after describing the language based ontological and epistemological differences in the performance of majalis, argues that a remarkable change has been occurred in the composition and commencement of Urdu Shia Majalis over a period of time. It intends to bring the language in majalis discourse by analytically explaining the historical evolution of Urdu majalis. It maintains that Urdu majalis have gone through existential changes over the course of time. These changes can be periodically categorized in the reformatory, polemical and excommunicative trends in Urdu majalis in an evolutionary manner.     The evolution of Urdu literature in Balochistan is streched over a period of more than a hundred and fifty years. However, no research based and critical effort has ever been made to acertain the chronological order of development of various geners and their authors in Balochistan. This in turn has resulted in the growth of multiple narratives regarding the development of Urdu literature in Balochistan. This article, for thefirst time, critically discusses all existing narratives on the fiirst Urdu novel in Balochistan. And hence, posits that ''Dastan-i-Mujahid'' by Naseem Hijazi is the first ever Urdu novel produced in Balochistan. Further, the article also discusses his earlier Urdu novels in the historical background of Urdu fiction in the province
