    The debate of Islamic literature was initiated long before establishment of Pakistan though the term was not applied at that time as vividly as was done right after the emerging of Pakistan as an independent state. This movement was launched in retaliation of communist propaganda mainly against Islam and Pakistan. This reaction appeared on two fronts. On one hand Movement for Islamic Literature was there to resist the conspiracy against Islam and Pakistan, as conceived by them, and on the other hand literary giant like Muhammad Hasan Askari began defending Islam and its social values through his criticism.  Askari was of the view that role of Islam stood central in formation of our culture. Askari was given an ear in literary circles. The debate of Islamic Literature in Urdu produced both pro and anti proponents which later turned to be an invaluable assets of critical tradition of Urdu language.

    The Indo-Pak Subcontinent has been a great centre of Persian language and literature in past centuries. A good number of writers contributed to Persian both in prose and verse. Story writing in Persian began in the reign of Sultanate of Delhi. Folk tales of the land were also rendered into Persian language. Story of Mirza and Sahiban is one of them. It is a vey famous folk lore and successfully attracted the attention of the Persian literati. Several Subcontinental Persian poets translated this popular story into Persian in verse form.

    Lori- Folk song for babies- is very much famous in the Punjab. Mothers take resort of Lori while making them to sleep. Lori comprises mellifluous and rhythmic words. Some of the Loris contains very meaningful verse and others have no special meanings yet have a very sweet sound which helps babies fall asleep. Lori also reflects the cultural panorama of the Punjab and likings and disliking of the Punjabis. The article throws light on the golden tradition of Lori in the Punjab.
