No full textUrdu criticism is a thing of later periods. And progressive or neo-progressive criticism is of more recent phenomenon in the history of literary criticism of Urdu. Qamar Raees is the renowned critic of the neo criticism in Urdu literature who earned wide spread reputation and stood high among neo-critics. Especially when it comes to criticism of fiction, his name and work can never be ignored instead acknowledgement of his services seems mandatory. Under the influence of neo progressive theory, he wisely presented a balanced point of view of neo- criticism of Urdu fiction. His view on fiction criticism gained due importance and attracted the attention of Urdu critics and readers alike.

No full textThe significance of Persian literature is truly appreciated around the world and the impact of Sufis amp; Saints on Persian poetry amp; prose can not be overlooked. Nur ud Din Abdul Rahman Jmai was a Sufi belonged to Naqshbandia Order in 9th century A.H. He spent most of his life in Heratt, modern day Afghanistan, and has left enormous and valuable poetic amp; prose works in Persian. He is well admired in Indo-Pak Sub-continent, Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asia. In this article, a brief sketch of his life and a concise description of his works has been mentioned, followed by a meaningful analysis of his attitude, approach, style, contents, thoughts, impact, influence, beliefs and ideology.

No full textArabic is the language of the holy Qura’n which was sent for the guidance of the entire humanity. Thus, Arabic has become the language of Islam. Since arrival of Islam in the Subcontinent, the Muslims in this region played a significant role in maintaining the language of the Qura’n. They learned this language to understand the holy Qura’n, Hadith and the religious sciences. As a result, religious consciousness spread far and wide in the Subcontinent. The article explains the importance of Arabic language and its role in creating religious awareness and understanding of the holy Qura’n and the Sunnah in Pakistan. The article concludes with the provision of a summary of the research and its findings besides proposing some suggestions in this regard.

He has contributed to Urdu literature many of his writing of which is his famous book "Urdu ki Aakhiri Kitaab" The Last Book of Urdu. This article presents an analytical and critical appreciation of the book. The article sheds lights on socio-political aspects of his humor writing besides a glimpse into his historical vision. Some of his techniques he employed in his humor have also been pointed out through specimens from his said book.

The article presents analysis of the story based on a symbol Pak Namuon Wala Pathar. The stone is a family sign of the basic character. The sign symbolizes the human urge of eternity. Here the family becomes human society, thus the meaning flows from individual to collective human self. The article also analyzes the language which creates mystery of the story.

No full textAhmad Yar Maralvi was a renowned name of Persian literature. He composed Shahnama Ranjeet Singh. It gave new meaning to the phenomena of patriotism and intellect thereby creating a following of its own among the scholars and intellectuals of the Indian subcontinent. Maralvi, a disciple of Firdausi, wrote Shahnama Ranjeet Singh on the request of Raja Gulab Sing. Like Firdausi, he started the Shahnama with Hamd and Naat and then penned down an elaborate description of Ranjeet Singh's life from birth to death. The epic is written in Persian with a beautiful amalgamation of Punjabi and Hindi languages. This article delineates it in light of Firdausi's stylistics technique of Shahnama, thus bringing out its distinct features.

Though he penned on almost all aspects of Arabic language, yet his services in fields of rhetoric, syntax and morphology are of central importance. This articles sheds light on his views on rhetoric. Al-Kamil and al-Muqtadhib are his two famous books in which he expressed his views on rhetoric and morphology and later on his views became the basis of research on rhetoric. Perhaps he is the first person who terms his treatise on the topic as Balaghat (Rhetoric). Sub branches of Arabic Rhetoric has been discussed in Al-Kamil. He has also expressed his critical views in this book which provided the base for further study in this field

No full textBaba Fareed is a great name of the golden tradition of Sufism in the subcontinent. He dedicated his life to the sacred cause of disseminating the peaceful message of Islam. He abhorred all kinds of oppression meted out to common people. He condemned the perpetrators of unjustness and stood with the suppressed ones. He reached to the hearts of people through the most effective medium...poetry and that too in their native language i.e. Punjabi. He is rightly considered to be the first Punjabi Sufi as well as classical poet. His services in promoting Punjabi language are of much importance. He laid the principles of Punjabi poetry which helped contouring its future course. He introduced some symbols which Sufi poets of later period employed them in their verse. This article is a study of Baba Fareed's symbolic expression with special reference to his composition of first couplets.

Kashmir, one of the most blessed spots upon the earth, remained under the auspices of different dynasties from BC to AD 1947. The powerful Sikh Ruler of the Punjab, Ranjit Singh, occupied it with the support of the British, the Dogras and the Kashmiri Pandits. The centuries old Muslim Rule on Kashmir came to an end with Ranjit’s occupation. The imposition of non-Muslim Rule brought miseries, indignities, economic, political and religious persecution. His representatives in Kashmir also pursued the policy of unbounded repression and corruption with the active support of him. This article deals with the Ranjit’s rule on Kashmir.
