No full textSome people suffer from disability since their birth and other in result of some untold incidents and accidents. Thus they lag behind from the rest socially and financially. This hindrance does not allow them to perform their duties and in sometimes to live by their own means. They become dependents of others to meet their needs. This dependence develops in them a sense of meekness, degeneration and finally of deprivation. They are considered to be rather poor and lower creatures and this treatment compel them to think themselves low and inferior. But this is not the case in Islam. Islamic teachings do not deem a person with disability of any kind to be unfit or burden rather such persons enjoy special status as rules are relaxed in many cases regarding obligations both rituals and societal. The article deals with the rights of disables in light of the Islamic teachings based on Qura’n and Sunnah

The article discusses Orientalism in Islamic perspective and sees how this trend of writing has evolved through colonial and post-colonial era. It also discusses the influence of Orientalists in European and American academia in shaping Middle Eastern Studies and Near Eastern Studies departments. The article underscores the political and colonial dimensions of the whole movement of the Orientalist methodology that still dominates research in American universities. Relationship between Orientalist scholarship and political hegemony is also highlighted. Views of non-Western scholars such as Abdullah Laroui and Anwer Abdul Malek and Abdul Latif Tibawi against Orientalist scholarship reflects how politics of knowledge in the field of Islamic Studies has always been shadowed by prejudice, racism stereotyping and biases.

No full textMufti Muhammad Shafi is widely known for his services in the field of the Qura’nic Commentary, Hadith and Islamic Jurisprudence. He has many books to his credit written on various topics. But he is least known for his poetic flare. He was a seasoned poet and composed in Arabic, Persian and Urdu. This article covers his Arabic poetry. Imprints of the classical Arabic poetry are vividly seen on his poetic renditions. Besides excerpts and incorporations from Pre-Islamic and Islamic period’s verse, his is mainly a pedagogic poetry. He freely employed excerpts from the holy Qura’n and Hadith. The article also includes specimens of eulogy, elegy, romance and resistance from his poetry.

The article is a study of the obstacles regarding teaching of Arabic language. Generic mention has been made of the difficulties faced by the non native Arabs and later on specific hindrances have been discussed comprehensively. Teaching of Arabic language at the University of the Punjab has been taken as a case study and a detailed discussion made in light of teaching experience at the oldest and one of the most esteemed seat of higher learning in Pakistan i.e. University of the Punjab, Lahore. The article concludes with some suggestions to overcoming the issue.

At the beginning of his career his poetry was very romantic but later he composed on laboure and came to be called Shair - e - Mazdur (Poet of the labourers ). His poetry appeals to common man. He enjoyed a creative command over both genres of Ghazal and Nazm. He has written more then 80 books and hundreds of articales including poetry, prose, linguistics, philology, autobiographies. Much of his literary work is still un - published. He wrote several Hamds and Naats. Darain and Abr - e Nisa are his well known books on Naat. In this artical Hamds and Naats writen by him have been discussed in detail.

Mostly the writer gathers all his strength for showing persona and shadow of his characters. The most effective tool in the hands of writer, for showing characters' development is conflict i.e. inner and outer. In this context, comparison and contrast with other characters and environment is result oriented. Agha Babar's explanatory quality is fully observable in objective correlative for the development of character. His characters are not mere product of pre-conceptions. He puts his characters in real lifelike situations and let them show man's helplessness in hands of fate. Thus life and its different colours become brighter by Agha Babar's lifelike characterization.

No full textThe more formal and established form of criticism in Urdu is study of style. On the contrary, stylistics is the modern way of criticism. Each piece of writing is immensely influenced by the socio-politic and religio-economic trends of its era and has critical peculiarities. The obvious questions which arise in study of stylistics are: when and where study of style and stylistics got inroads into Urdu literature? Is style and stylistics name of same approach of criticism or divergent in nature? Basically "style" is the way of presenting one's ideas whereas the stylistics is called the literary as well as linguistic analysis of the style. This article is the embodiment of the analytical exposition of the stylistic endeavours made by classical as well as modern linguistics of Urdu language.

This article deals with the brief introduction of comic characters in Urdu short stories. Besides presenting definition of a comic character, some examples of comic characters from Urdu short stories complying with its definition partly or completely, have also been incorporated in the article.

No full textGhalib is a philosophical poet of Urdu language. He dealt philosophical questions of life and reality of universe deeply. Although he has not presented a harmonious philosophy like Iqbal but there are many metaphysical elements in his poetry. Ghalib had an astonishing power to explain the philosophical expressions in his verse. Wahdatul Wujood is his favourite and prominent topic in this regard. As a follower of Bedil, he composed this concept from different angles. Though he was not a practising Sufi yet he believed in Wahdatul Wujood firmly. In the light of this concept he dealt in his verse with ontology, cosmology and psychology nicely.
