    Dr. syed Muhammad Abdullah (April 5, 1906 - August 14, 1986) was a renowned  scholar, teacher, researcher, Iqbalist  and cataloger of Persian, Urdu and  Arabic manuscripts in Pakisatn.He earned  D.Lit  from University of the Punjab, Lahore in 1935 on  his research titled " Contribution of Hindus Towards Persian Literature" which was abridged and published in Urdu and then translated into Persian and published from Tehran, Iran. Dr. Abdullah headed Department of Urdu and Arbaic at Oriental College and also worked as principal Oriental College and head of  Urdu Encyclopedia of Islam, University of the Punjab, Lahore. He founded West  Pakistan Urdu Academy for publishing reserarches on Oriental Languages and Literature. The article presents a brief introduction of life and works of Syed Abdullah.

    Abdul Ahad Azad was a protagonist of humanity. He was the poet of revolutionary era of Kashmir. His poetry is based on revolutionary ideas which actually portray the nature. His poetry is full of Islamic mysticism, passion, incurable malady and characterization. His poems are the symbol of liberty. He dislikes political servitude, social injustice, economic backwardness and mutual enmity. He promotes equality, unity and love in his poetry. He is considered the noted poet of Kashmir. This article covers his life and poetic endeavors.

    The article depicts the concept and feelings of Ada Jafery about life and death. Ada Jafery was brought up in a feudal society. She succeeded to get herself recognized in conflicting social and political behaviors of her time. She spent her life with an obligation through her art. She accepted the life with its happiness and pains. In the perspective of death the morality of life earns more significations that make life more dynamic than before. The deep thoughts about grief and death appeared in the form of life and hope, and this is the distinctive feature of Ada Jafery's Urdu Ghazal

    Mirza Ghalib is one of the greatest poets of Urdu. His poetry is known for many qualities like versatility, depth, philosophic approach and command over the art of poetry. His Urdu diwan was published five times in his life. It is still one of the most popular diwans of Urdu poetry. The result of its popularity tempted many scholars for its editing. Their point of views and approaches are quite different from each other. The article presents an overview of diwan of Ghalib through examples. It also compares the different selections of Ghalib's poetry and discusses how much the principles of editing have been observed in these editions.

    Khawja Ghulam Farid was a prominent Sufi poet of Punjabi/Seraiki language. He belonged to a renowned religious and literary family of the Southern Punjab. His main claim to fame is 'Kafi' writing. The theme of his poetry is mysticism. He had employed almost all the literary beauties in his poetry and especially his usage of imagery is unique which distinguishes him from other poets of the Punjab.     Sufis and saints usually employ a slightly different language for their spiritual experiences. This may be termed as technical language of the spiritual world. Such language carries the tinge of paradoxical expression and comprises all literary beauties i.e., simile, metaphor, allegory etc. It is why this expression is considered very important in literature. Ba Yazid Bustami was a great Sufi. Following common practice of Sufism, he had also used paradoxical expression in his rendition. This article is a study of paradoxical aspect of Ba Yazid’s work

    In linguistics, one of the most difficult issues is how to draw a clear line between a language and a dialect. Dialects are mutually intelligible forms of a language which differ to one another in certain grammatical rules and pronunciations. This criterion works to a large extent but sometimes it is not easy to differentiate between the two and a clear cut distinction evades the researchers. An effort has been made to show the complexity of this issue and tried to solve it accordingly through the article.

    The Bahmanid Rule lasted in India from 1347 to 1527. The Bahminid Empire was founded by Alauddin Hasan Bahman. This is the period when fertility and richness of the Sub-continent attracted the people living in adjoining areas especially of Iran to a large extent. It is why numberless people migrated to the Sub-continent in search of a better and honorable living. Among them were Persian speaking people from Persia and Transoxiana.  They made literary contributions and flourished in the Bahmanid Period.
