    Pessimism stands opposite to Optimism. Pessimism is a tendency to see only the negative or worse aspects of everything whereas Optimism is to see positive and bright aspects of everything. These two terms categorize human beings' behavior and their outlook and worldview. Usage of these terms is abound in every worth mentioning literature of the world. Urdu literature is no exception. Urdu poetry and especially genera of ghazal is replete with trends of Pessimism. This article focuses pessimistic trends in classical Urdu ghazal.

    Sohrab Sepehri is ranked amongst the Iranian poets of modern era who perceive Universe to be of central importance and consider it the epicenter of their inner self and emotional expression. Sometimes they find common moods with the Universe and sometimes they picture in it their happiness and sadness and express it with symbolism. Sepehri's message is grounded on all the elements of Universe. His poems are rich in Universal connotation, symmetry of life, caring for Universe and preventing it from menace, expressing empathy etc. Sepehri has an anagogic vision of the Universe.

    Urdu prose has long history and is enriched with many stylist writers. A look into the past will show that Shah Abdul Qadir Delhvi translator of the Holy Quran, is the first stylist prose writer. Meer Amman, Ghalib, Sir Syed, Hali, Shibli, Muhammad Hussain Azad, Abdul Kalam Azad, Rasheed Ahmed Sidiqui, Khursheed-ul-Islam, Quratul Ain Haider are known stylist writers. The writers of Dastane Ameer Hamza are being ignored by the historians of Urdu; hence they have their own styles which have its own strength and worth.     The moment the holy Prophet (PBUH) began preaching the teachings of Islam, people of Makka became arch enemy of Islam. The Makkans could not bear the sight of anyone who challenged their life style. This life style though based on injustice and suppression yet it was very dear to them. Since the message of Islam is purely based on justice and emancipation, they showed full enmity towards the followers of Islam. Although the Muslims never faced such enmity in Madina owing to certain reasons, yet they had to face difficulties at the hands of hypocrites and Jewish community of Madina. This article presents a comparative study of enmity towards Islam shown by Makkans and Madinites.

    Mahmoud Tamour is the pioneer fiction writer of modern Arabic literature. He belonged to a literary family of Egypt. His work influenced the aspiring Arab fiction writers. He is also called the Maupassant of the Arab. He penned a good number of short stories and many of his short story collections got  published. He introduced the Arabic short story to new heights. Insaan is one of his master piece short stories. This story revolves around an ailing person who lost hope of life. He developed in himself a kind of indifference towards his society.     Mirza Abdul Qadir Bedil is a prominent figure of Persian poetry in the Subcontinent. He is considered a great representative of 'Sabk-e-Hindi'. Some of his ghazals have been translated into Urdu. Dr Syed Naeem Hamid is one of the translators who rendered some verses of Bedil into Urdu prose as well as in poetic form. This translation has been published under the title of Bahar Ejadi-e-Bedil'. This translation is very important and in impressive style but there are some technical points which need consideration of researchers and scholors alike.

    Amir Khusru is considered one of the great poets of Persian in the Subcontinent. He remained in the service of Nizam ud Din Aulia since his childhood, and was bestowed with his discipleship. The company of Hazrat Aulia uprooted the love for worldly riches and status from the personality of Amir Khusru. He acquired mystic purgation and enriched his inner through eternal light. Khusru had great veneration for his spiritual mentor, Hazrat Nizam ud Din Aulia and sacrificed everything in his love.
