    Naguib Mahfouz is a great fiction writer of Arabic language. His fiction is very popular as it has been translated in all major languages of the world. Though he has written short stories, novels and some translation works yet his main claim to fame is novel writing and that too of historical nature. He has successfully revisited the Pharaoh period of Egyptian history through his novels. Naguib has done justice with all the characters he has employed in his fiction. Womenfolk have also got special attention of this giant novelist of Arabic language. This article highlights the faminine portrayal in his historical novels.

    Allama Iqbal was a genius personality of the twentieth century. He had a deep attachment with Kahsmir because his ancestors hailed from Kashmir. The foundation of freedom struggle of Kashmir laid on 16th March 1846 when the East India Company sold the homeland of the Kashmiris to Hindu dogra Gulab Singh. In 1896, the Kashmiris got educational and political awareness after the establishment of society of Kashmiri Muslims of Lahore under the guidance of Allama Iqbal.     Mustafa Zaidi is one of the most acknowledged poets of Urdu of the twentieth century. He was equally well versed in composing Nazm and Ghazal but gained more prominence owing to the former. One of the major characteristic of his poems/ nazm is the skilful use of words. The words do not only convey a sense of appropriateness and imagery but also give a new meaning metaphorically and symbolically. The present article highlights this quality of Zaidi' poetry.

    This paper focuses the poetic environment of Ram Pur State after 1857. It was a crucial time for poets of Delhi and Lucknow. Ram Pur state became a peaceful shelter for them. Nawwab Yousaf Ali Khan Nazim, a pupil of Ghalib, himself was a renowned poet and patern of Urdu literature. So the local and migrated poets were equally honored in the court of Nawwab. Some off springs of Nawwab's family were inclined towards poetry and they also participated in progressing movement of Urdu poetry. The overall poetic literature of Ram Pur was sensual, romantic and pleasant whereas some thoughtful verses were available at times

    Divan-i-Mohabbat Khan consists of 345 ghazls, 40 rubaiyat, 10 mukhamasaat and two manajat. All forms of verse were at his disposal. A study of forms like rubai, masnavi and mukhamasaat proficiently used by Mohabbat Khan show his accomplishment therein. The masnavi appears to be his favorite form of poetry. To date, couple of manuscript of this poetical work has been discovered. This manuscript is acquired from British Library (India Office Library) London. Divan-e-Mohabbat Khan demonstrates not only the poetic maturity of Mohabbat Khan but also spirit of his age.

    There may be a bit difference of opinion among researchers about the life history of Lallah Arifa. But her status as the first classic poetess of Kashmiri literature is non- controversial. Her spiritual poetry has no clue of her religion. So it can't be guessed from it whether she was Muslim or non- Muslim. However, it is apparent from her "Wakhs" (a genre of Kashmiri Poetry) that she was preacher of Shivisim which was prevalent in those times. Her sorrows and miseries of life are obvious from her poetry. Mostly, her approach in poetry is spiritual. Her style is marvelous. No doubt, in the light of available texts, she is rightly considered the first classic poetess of Kashmiri language.

    This article is based upon the analytical study of the books, published on the occasion of hundredth birth anniversary (2014) of one of the most important and great Urdu poets of twentieth century, Majeed Amjad. In past he was paid less heed by most of the Urdu critics but gradually he got his due literary status and recognition. The researchers and critics tried to rediscover and reestablish his creative personality, literary works and poetic worth. Therefore, a large number of authored, compiled and translated books came into being. In this regard some valuable efforts have been made on the occasion of hundredth birht anniversary of  Majeed Amjad. Such books have been discussed in the article one by one and this article will be milestone in the history and tradition of research and criticism regarding Majeed Amjad.

    Haiku is one of the old kinds of Japanese poetry. It comprises  countless topics and expressions related to nature and its phenomena and specific cultural elements of Japan. This kind of poetry is also very unique in terms of form. It consists of three unrhymed lines based on five, seven and five syllables respectively. In Urdu, technical requirements and characteristics of this kind of poetry have not been understood properly. This article is an effort for understanding of this form of poetry.

    The holy Quran is the last divine universal and comprehensive book of guidance. It is also the biggest miracle of the holy Prophet (PBUH). The miracles of the Quran are many. The most prominent among them is its literary rhetorical and stylistic uniqueness. This study highlights such type of sentences with help of similes in which there is great guidance for human beings. Allah Almighty in the holy Quran has presented beliefs, worships and the division of social matters in such a beautiful way that the similes and beauty of expressions become ever more evident.
