تقابلِ کلامِ مصحفیؔ در تذکرۂ ہندی
Ghulam Hamdani Mushafi was a prominent poet and Tazkira writer of Urdu. His major poetic collection represents the Lakhnavi school of thought. His poetic collection consists of eight Urdu and three Persian divans. He employed a different dialect in his poetry. His poetic clashes with Insha were very famous which gave his poetry a very interesting tinge. His poetic collection in Tazkira-e-Hindi is valuable and when compared with his divan, a wide difference comes forth. The article is an attempt to trace out these differences in a balanced way

Dr. Abu al-Lais Siddiqui rendered great services for the promotion of Urdu language and literature. He is recognized in literary circles as a teacher, researcher, linguist and journalist. He started his teaching career at Aligarh Muslim University. After the partition, he migrated to Pakistan in 1948 and joined Oriental College, Lahore as a senior lecturer. In 1956, he joined Karachi University as an associate professor of Urdu from where he retired in 1976 as the chairman of Urdu Department. He was the first scholar who obtained doctoral degree in Urdu from Aligarh Muslim University. He contributed to Urdu language with his valuable books as well. The article focuses Dr Siddiqui’s literary services in promotion of Urdu language

Fazl ‘Ali Fazli's compilation Karbal Kathā plays a vital role in Urdū literature. The style of this compilation has been overviewed in this article. Shah ‘Alam Sani's compilation ‘Ajaib al-Qiṣaṣ also plays important role in the progress of Urdū prose after Fazl ‘Ali Fazli’s. Sani's compilation has been analyzed to evaluate Urdū prose in a literary perspective thus to prove that it has gone through levels of simplicity and fluency. Furthermore, the article visibly expresses simplicity of Urdū prose before Fort William College and tries to define the phases it underwent to reach present stage

Ḥazrat Nosha Ganj Bakhsh is one of the great Sufis of the Punjab who dedicated his life for the spread of true and peaceful message of Islam. A good number of locals embraced Islam by his preaching. Generally, he advised his followers to act upon all the teachings of Islam but especially he emphasized on reciting the Kalima Tayyiba again and again. His work both prose and verse teamed with the importance of recitation of the Kalima. He did this knowing the fact that if embedded this Kalima deep into the hearts of the believers, they would not go astray despite all kinds of temptations or fears. The article focuses Ḥazrat Nosha’s teachings especially about the recitation of the Kalima Tayyiba

Begum Akhtar Riazuddin is the first woman travelogue writer in Urdu. Saat Samandar paar and Dhanak par Qadam are her memorable travelogues which have won her popularity in the literary circles of Urdu. She looks at the world with the eye of a genius tourist. It’s why her travelogues carry vast information and serious analysis. She has described the beautiful scenes of nature of different places in a befitting way. Instead of taking a static view of a scene, she looks at it from a creative angle. She doesn’t hesitate to describe the reality whatsoever it is. Despite being an eastern woman, her thoughts are similar to those of men and she has adopted a romantic and fictional style to express events, observations, experiences and thoughts

Pandit Sudarshan is a big name of Urdu short story writing. Problems of rural and urban life, domestic affairs, confusions of individual life, environmental complexity and class division are the main topics of his fiction. He bravely unveils the cruelty that results from the lust and luxury of the rich and capitalists. He shows the horrible face of the evil rich people, which makes humanity tremble. Urdu fictional literature flourished through a clear and organized plan in Fort William College. This college produced an unprecedented literature whose exploratory and critical treasure stands at the highest level in Urdu literature. On the other hand, there are some tales which have been neglected for certain reasons. These tales are complaining of their diminutiveness and insignificance in Urdu literature to the literary scholars and critics. In this article, the literary and technical aspects of the overshadowed fictional literature produced at Fort William College have been analyzed with the exploratory and critical approach

Muhammad Hasan Askari initiated discussions on Pakistani Literature in 1949. He presented his theory of “Pakistani Adab”. By presenting this theory, Askari intended to form such a common and harmonized national literature which has all the historical, cultural and social features and characteristics of our golden Islamic values. Samad Shaheen, Mumtaz Sheerin, Saleem Ahmad, Sajjad Baqir Rizvi, Muzaffar Ali Sayed, Jamil Jalbi and many other literary figures warmly welcomed and supported Askari’s theory of “Pakistani Adab”. The reflection of these discussions can be seen in the literary journals like “Saqi”, “Naqoosh”, “Mah e Nau”, Humayon”, “Adab e Latif”, “Fanoon”, “Nizam”, “Urdu Adab” and “Naya Doar” of 50’s, 60’s and 70’s

Annamarie Schimmel was a renowned orientalist. Her main claim to fame is her life-long interest in Sufi tradition of Islam. She was well versed in many eastern languages including Pakistan’s national language-Urdu. She studied Urdu literature in depth. Her book “Classical Urdu Literature from the beginning to Iqbal” is a true example of her deep understanding and interest in Urdu. Despite shortcomings, this book is a valuable addition to Urdu by a foreigner. She elaborated Urdu’s classical poetry and proved her much appreciated literary acumen regarding 18th and 19th century Urdu literature. This book primarily is a portrayal of Urdu literature for Western readers
