Novelette is a literary genre originated in Italy back in 14th century. There are various terms used in the literature for novelette such as short novel, novellat, nouvelle, novella and novella etc. it came from English into sub-continental languages including Punjabi. Though the tradition of novel in Punjabi is well established, novelette as a separate genre has yet not been discussed as it should be. The article focuses the Punjabi novelettes written and published in Pakistan from 1947 to 2020

There are a few basic factors for the formation of ‘Arūz which are supportive in the understanding of basics of Arūz. This article is a study of those factors and sources which proved helpful to Khalīl bin Aḥmad in the formation of metrical system. First, motivational sources of ‘Arūz; second, natural source of ‘Arūz; and third, standardized sources for extraction of ‘Arūz. These historic sources have been analyzed which Khalīl adopted as standard in the formation of ‘Arūz to form a code and made it applicable for poetry

Besides orientalists like Edward O'Brien, Andrew Jukes, James Wilson, the local language experts Akhtar Waheed Ansari, Jamshed Kamtar Rasoolpuri, Dilshad Kalanchvi, Fida-e-Athar, Aslam Qureshi, Bashir Ahmad Zami, Maulana Aziz ur Rehman Aziz, Maulana Noor Ahmad Fareedi, Dr. Mahar Abdul Haq, Qais Fareedi, Shaukat Mughal, Saadullah Khetran etc. contributed a lot in the development of Saraiki dictionary. Though remarkable work on Saraiki lexicography has been done yet a lot more attention is required to produce Saraiki dictionary in light of international standard of lexicography

Jammu Kashmir is a land of matchless natural beauty. After its annexation to the Mughal Empire in 1586, it became the center of art amp; culture, language amp; literature, especially Persian literature. Since the Mughal emperors were fond of learning, they encouraged poets, writers and scholars. A galaxy of poets under the umbrella of Mughals contributed richly toward Persian literature. The giants of Persian poetry like Mazhari, Fani, Ghani, Salim, Auji, Fitrati, Furughi, Najmi and Taufiq rose from the valley to prominence in the Mughal period. The article sheds light on the Kashmir-based poets’ literary contributions to Persian literature in the Mughal period

The Indigenous Cultural Movement was a literary movement initiated by Dr Wazir Agha after the War of September 1965 between Pakistan and India. The theory reflects his deep love for the native culture and land. The patriotism of the nation was at its peak in those days and a glimpse of national sentiments and emotions can be seen in Urdu literature especially in poetry composed in that particular period. Writers both pro and against the movment wrote on it. ‘Inshaia,’ a comparatively new form of Urdu prose, gained wider ecceptance in that era. Urdu language was introduced in Kashmir through Punjab. Chiefly, it was popularized by the traders who travelled across the sub-continent for commercial purposes. Soon Urdu became the lingua franca in Kashmir. The graduates from Aligarh Muslim University and other educational institutions situated out of Kashmir played very positive role as well in this regard. Urdu was declared official language of Kashmir back in 1889. After partition, again it was declared official language of Kashmir under article 145 of the constitution of State of Jammu and Kashmir. It remained so until autonomous status of the State was abrogated in 2019 by the Indian Government unilaterally. Feminism is a common topic of modern world literature. Its traces can also be found in modern day Arabic literature starting with Jamaluddin Afghani, Qasim Amin. Najla Izzudin is another contemporary Arabic writer who has penned on the same. Like any other literature, many writers of Urdu have written on the rights of woman folk. Prominent among them are: Syed Mumtaz Ali, Abdul Haleem Sharar, Deputy Nazir Ahmad, Altaf Husain Hali, Kishwar Naheed etc. The article explores commonalities in writings on Feminism by famous authors of Urdu and Arabic.

Eco feminism is a sub branch of Eco criticism. Eco criticism finds the relationship between nature and literature and shows its resistance against the forces hostile to nature and mother earth. Eco feminism sees environmentalism and the relationship between women and the earth as foundational to its analysis and practice. Eco feminism places nature in its centre and examines the problems of nature with the help of main premise established by feminism. The article is a study of Urdū fiction in eco feminist perspective
