Resistance literature has a prominent place in Kashmiri language. It begins with Lalla ‘Arifa's composition which she presented as an organized effort against the Brahmanism in 14th Century. Her poetry motivates people to live for high values shunning mundane gains at the cost of human dignity. Iqbal, Fauq, Mahjūr, Āzad and Manto enriched Kashmiri language with resistance literature. Kashmir is still in the shackles of slavery despite the departure of the British in 1947 from the sub-continent. Today, Kashmir is badly bleeding by the tyrant India. Presently, Amīn Kamil, Dina Nāth Nadim, Ḥusain ‘Ali, Tanha Ansari etc. are raising their voices through their verses against the illegitimate occupation of their mother land

Dastan-e-Ameer Hamza is a famous epic which can also be called the psychoanalysis of earlier men and women, ways of thinking and living, Arab mind and civilization, ways of prediction and interpretation of dreams etc. Dastan consists of humans super humans, gigantic creatures, monsters, demons, deities, etc. It describes the eternal tussle between good and evil. The wheel of time is rolling on and on. Most of the characters are flat and bear no change till the end. For modern and complicated mind, though this tale is outdated for being the offspring of the free rein of imagination, it is very interesting and a treasure trove of knowledge in many ways

A rare and important Persian historical source MIRĀT-E-DAULAT-E-ABBASI by Lala Daulat Rai Gehī is first political history of Bahawalpur State. It was written on the wish of Navvab Muḥammad Bahawal Khan II. The book covers history of erstwhile Bahawalpur State, people, works and important events of the period of the said Navvab. It is commonly believed that this book is the first available historical and important document on that period. The article briefly introduces this rare document MIRĀT-I DAULAT-I ABBASI on the History of Bahawalpur

Allama Iqbal began publishing regularly his verse since April 1901 in Sir Abdul Qadir's magazine Makhzan. This magazine played a pivotal role in popularizing Iqbal both home and abroad as a poet of great genius. Special issues of journals and magazines began publishing in Iqbal's own lifetime starting with Yousuf Hasan Khan's Nairang-e Khayal (September October 1932). Lately, two more Iqbal’s Issues have been discovered namely Nor-al-Taleem and Akhtar. Discovery of these two issues is a valuable addition to the present literature on Iqbal. Urdu poetry has been dependent upon Persian poetics to a long extent. Prominent poets like Ghalib, Iqbal and Rashid etc. have shown keen interest in following the Iranian poetics. It’s why Iranian landscape and other cultural concerns can easily be traced in poetic tradition of Urdu. Although most of poets have abided by the Persian poetics and felt proud of it, yet Mir Taqi Mir was the first Urdu poet who came with a counter narrative in this respect. He has not only paved the way of using Iranian perspective in Urdu poetry with great creativity but also introduced ‘Rekhta’ parallel to Ghazal with full confidence for the first time. After the industrial age, the novel has overtaken all other genres. No other literary genre could explore the spiritual and existential problems of the modern man in the way the novel did. Early novel was written following the traditional technique of realism. The same life was portrayed in the novel that was seen outside. The reader did not have to face much difficulty in understanding the text. The novel globally underwent many experiments in 20th century at thematic and form levels. The Pakistani Urdu novel itself also accepted the impact of these changes. The article discusses such novels which left a deep impression on the mind of readers

Janbaz Multani was a 17th century leading Persian poet of Multan. His only surviving work is his Persian divan available at Punjab University’s central library, Lahore. His poetry is deeply influenced by the prominent Persian poets like Sa'adi Shirazi, Hafiz Shirazi, Qasim Anwar, Urfi Shirazi, Kaleem Kashani and Saib Tabrizi. His divan consists of various genres of poetry like ghazal, mukhammas, mathnavi etc. His verse revolves around topics such as love -both worldly and divine, mysticism and morality. The balanced use of rhetoric increases the colour, taste and impact of his poetry. The article introduces Janbaz Multani’s hitherto unpublished Persian divan and analyzes his thoughts and art
نجابت کی وار- پنجاب پر نادر شاہ کا حملہ اور مقامی مزاحمت
Persian emperor Nadir Shah invaded India in the eighteenth century. His onslaught was strongly resisted by many local rulers and landholders alike. The article explains the situation from the lens of an eighteenth-century Punjabi poet Nijābat who wrote a Vār -a genre in the Punjabi poetry- to appreciate the resistance of locals against the invasions of outsiders. Nijābat not only explains the atrocities committed by the army of Nadir Shah but also eulogizes the resilience of locals who showed extra ordinary resistance. An interesting feature of this Vār is the expression of various emotions such as anger, pride and weeping

Sabk e Hindi, a Sub-continent specific style of Persian poetry, is unique style famous for its delicacy, novelty of topics and symbolism. Though this style remained prevalent from the beginning of the eleventh century to the mid of twelfth century, its impact is still felt on contemporary Persian poetry. Neema Yoshij, Mahdi Ikhwan Salis, Farogh Farrukhzad, Suhrab Sapehri, Ahmad Shamlu and Shafi’i Kadkani, etc. are employing this style’s eminent characteristics like personification, sensuality, paradox, and metaphor.
