    No full text
Background: Morphological properties such as length and tortuosity of the large intestine segments play important roles, especially in interventional procedures like colonoscopy. Objective: Using computed tomography (CT) colonoscopy images, this study aimed to examine the morphological features of the colon's anatomical sections and investigate the relationship of these sections with each other or with age groups. The shapes of the transverse colon were analyzed using artificial intelligence. Methods: The study was conducted as a two- and three-dimensional examination of CT colonography images of people between 40 and 80 years old, which were obtained retrospectively. An artificial intelligence algorithm (YOLOv8) was used for shape detection on 3D colon images. Results: 160 people with a mean age of 89 men and 71 women included in the study were 57.79 +/- 8.55 and 56.55 +/- 6.60, respectively, and there was no statistically significant difference (p= 0.24). The total colon length was 166.11 +/- 25.07 cm for men and 158.73 +/- 21.92 cm for women, with no significant difference between groups (p=0.12). As a result of the training of the model Precision, Recall, and mAP were found to be 0.8578, 0.7940, and 0.9142, respectively. Conclusions: The study highlights the importance of understanding the type and morphology of the large intestine for accurate interpretation of CT colonography results and effective clinical management of patients with suspected large intestine abnormalities. Furthermore, this study showed that 88.57% of the images in the test data set were detected correctly and that AI can play an important role in colon typing

Various traveling wave solutions for (2+1)-dimensional extended Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation using a newly created methodology

    No full text
The Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation is a crucial model in various physical systems, including hydrodynamic wave disturbances, plasma physics, and nonlinear optics. Our study focuses on the analytical solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional extended KP equation, as these solutions can offer mathematical tools for understanding wave behavior and have practical applications. We found that incorporating two additional terms can restore the integrability of the equation, leading to the generation of dark and bright soliton and traveling wave solutions. In this work, we employ the Kumar-Malik method to find analytical solutions to the (2+1)- dimensional extended KP equation. The Kumar-Malik method is an effective approach for solving nonlinear partial differential equations (NLPDEs) based on a first-order differential equation. By applying this method, we have derived various solutions to the (2+1)-dimensional extended KP equation, including Jacobi elliptic, hyperbolic, trigonometric, and exponential function solutions. These solutions are then presented graphically to illustrate the wave behavior under different parameters. Our results contribute to a deeper understanding of the KP equation's behavior under different physical conditions. Specifically, we have examined the effects of parameters on the widths, velocities, and other essential properties of the waves. This information is invaluable for studying hydrodynamic waves, plasma fluctuations, and optical solitons. In conclusion, this work underscores the importance of obtaining analytical solutions to the (2+1)-dimensional extended KP equation and presenting these solutions graphically. These solutions provide a valuable resource for understanding the complex behavior of physical systems and can inspire future research

Foliar spray applications may be a valuable tool for producing high quality grapes. However, it is important to use the proper foliar substance and apply it at the proper time and concentration. Recently, it has been observed that there are a limited number of studies on phenylalanine and proline applications in improving grape quality. In current research, three different doses (0, 500 and 1000 ppm) of phenylalanine (Phe) and proline (Pro) were used alone or in combination with bunch tip reduction (Btr) application in order to determine their effects on grape quality attributes. As a consequence of this study, particularly Phe-1000 ppm + Btr was found to be the most favorable application for improving phytochemical properties of 'Red Globe' table grape variety

18th World Conference on Seismic Isolation, Energy Dissipation, and Active Vibration Control of Structures, WCSI 2023 -- 6 November 2023 through 10 November 2023 -- Antalya -- 319809The prestressed lead damper is an energy-dissipative device with a high damping capacity and is used for seismic response control in the earthquake-resistant design of structures. The device works as a friction damper and utilizes the friction losses between lead and a moving shaft while prestressing on the lead controls the behavior. This study experimentally investigates the effect of prestressing level on the characteristics of a lead damper. After producing the lead damper with a straight shaft, different prestressing levels were applied to the lead, i.e., 0.0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, 3.0% and 4.0%. The dampers were experimentally tested by applying a three-step displacement protocol to the shaft: five cycles of 5.0 mm target displacement with a rate of 0.5 mm/s, five cycles of 10.0 mm target displacement with a rate of 1.0 mm/s, and ten cycles of 20.0 mm target displacement with a rate of 2.0 mm/s. The cyclic tests showed that the lead damper’s characteristics, e.g., damper force, initial stiffness, hysteretic behavior, and damping properties, were considerably affected by the amount of prestressing on lead. Increasing the lead prestressing levels resulted in more stable hysteretic curves. In addition, the damper force and, consequently, the damping properties were significantly improved. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, TÜBİTAK, (121M719

    No full text
Objectives: The study aimed to examine the histopathological and biomechanical effects of papaverine administered intraperitoneally and locally on Achilles tendon healing in a rat model. Materials and methods: Forty-eight adult male SpragueDawley rats (range, 300 to 400 g) were used in this study conducted between October and November 2022. The rats were divided into three groups, with each group further subdivided into two for sacrifice on either the 15(th) (early period) or 30(th) (late period) day after surgery. The first (control) group received no treatment following Achilles tendon repair, while papaverine was intraperitoneally administered every other day for 10 days in the second group and locally in the third group after surgery. On the 15(th) and 30(th) days, the rats were sacrificed, and their Achilles tendons were subjected to biomechanical testing and histopathological evaluation. Results: Histopathologically, there were no significant differences among the groups on the 15 th day. However, on the 30 th day, the locally applied papaverine group exhibited superior histopathological outcomes compared to the control group (p<0.05). Concerning the highest tensile strength values before rupture, the biomechanical assessment showed that the group receiving local papaverine treatment in the early period and both the group with systemic papaverine treatment and the one with local papaverine treatment in the late period displayed a statistically significant advantage compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Locally administered papaverine has positive biomechanical effects in the early period and exhibits a positive correlation both histopathologically and biomechanically in the late period. Novel therapeutic options may be provided for patients through these findings

Unleashing power of financial technologies on mineral productivity in G-20 countries

    No full text
This study aims to investigate the effects of financial technologies (FinTech) on mineral productivity, used for the first time in an empirical analysis, for G-20 countries. In the process, the impacts of financial technology, population, economic growth, trade openness, human capital, and total factor productivity on mineral productivity are examined using panel regression and panel VAR procedure for the period from 2002 to 2019. Empirical research yielded evidence indicating that increasing factor productivity and finance technology drive an increase in mineral productivity. Nonetheless, there is an inverse relationship between trade openness and mineral productivity. Moreover, there is no statistically significant relationship between economic growth, population growth, human capital accumulation, and mineral productivity. Furthermore, we also utilized with method of moments quantile regression technique to observe the effects of explanatory variables on different quantiles of mineral productivity. The findings demonstrate that although economic growth has a negative effect on mineral productivity across all quantiles, a positive increase in factor productivity has an influence on mineral productivity across all quantiles. However, financial technology and human capital accumulation only benefit mineral productivity at huge quantiles. Additionally, the outcomes of the robustness check techniques used show that financial technologies and mineral productivity have a bidirectional causal link and that, in the former instance of positive shocks in the latter, there are positive and substantial reactions
