    Investigation of the effects of music activity programs on spatial perception skills in preschool children

    Bu araştırmada okul öncesi dönemdeki çocuklara yönelik hazırlanan müzik etkinliklerinin mekânsal algı becerilerine etkisi incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılında Tekirdağ Süleymanpaşa’da Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı resmi anaokullarında eğitim gören 60-71 aylık 47 çocuk oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada; nicel ve nitel araştırma yöntemlerini içeren karma araştırma yöntemlerinden sıralı açıklayıcı desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada nicel veriler öğrencilere uygulanan Mekânsal Algı Gözlem Formu ile nitel verileri ise araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen ve deney grubunun öğretmenine uygulanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Ön test-son test kontrol gruplu deneysel desen modelinin kullanıldığı araştırmada deney grubuna 8 hafta boyunca haftada 3 gün müzik eğitim programı uygulanırken kontrol grubuna ise MEB okul öncesi eğitim müfredatı uygulanmaya devam edilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler bağımsız gruplar için t-test ve bağımlı gruplar için t-test teknikleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları deney grubunda yer alan çocukların mekânsal algı puanlarının kontrol grubuna oranla yüksek olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu bulgudan hareketle ve deney grubunun öğretmeniyle yapılan görüşme sonuçlarına göre müzik etkinliklerinin mekânsal algı becerilerini geliştirmek için kullanılabilecek etkili bir uygulama olduğu belirlenmiştir. Okul öncesi dönemdeki çocukların mekânsal algı becerilerini geliştirmeye yönelik olarak müzik etkinliklerinin programda daha çok yer alması gerektiği düşünülmektedirThis study examines the impact of music activities prepared for preschool children on their spatial perception skills. The study group consisted of 47 children aged 60-71 months who were enrolled in public kindergartens under the Ministry of National Education in Tekirdağ Süleymanpaşa during the 2023-2024 academic year. A sequential explanatory design, one of the mixed research methods incorporating both quantitative and qualitative research methods, was used in this study. Quantitative data were collected using the Spatial Perception Observation Form administered to the students, while qualitative data were gathered through a semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers and conducted with the teacher of the experimental group. In the study which employed a pretest-posttest control group experimental design, a music education program was applied to the experimental group 3 days a week for 8 weeks, while the Ministry of National Education's pre-school education curriculum continued to be applied to the control group. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using t-test techniques for independent groups and t-test techniques for dependent groups. The research results indicate that the spatial perception scores of the children in the experimental group are higher than those in the control group. Based on this finding and the results of the interview with the teacher of the experimental group, it was determined that musical activities are an effective practice for improving spatial perception skills. It is suggested that musical activities should be included more in the program to enhance the spatial perception skills of preschool children

    Orlicz Fonksiyon Dizileri İle Wijsman Toplanabilirlik

    The Wijsman convergence is a type of convergence for sequences of closed sets in metric spaces, utilizing the distance from a point to a set. This study introduces a new sequence space by defining a summability concept for sequences of closed sets in the Wijsman sense, using sequences of Orlicz functions. Various inclusion theorems related to the space of Wijsman statistically convergent sequences of sets have been presented, considering different parameters used in the definition of this set sequence space. Additionally, in the obtained results, a concept of density has been employed using weight functions instead of asymptotic density.Wijsman yakınsaması, metrik uzaylarda kapalı küme dizileri için bir yakınsama türüdür ve bir noktanın bir kümeye olan uzaklığını kullanır. Bu çalışmada, Orlicz fonksiyonlarının dizileri kullanılarak, Wijsman anlamında kapalı kümeler dizileri için bir toplanabilirlik kavramı tanımlanarak yeni bir dizi uzayı önerilmiştir. Bu küme dizileri uzayının tanımlanmasında kullanılan parametrelerin farklılaşması durumunda veya Wijsman istatistiksel yakınsak küme dizilerinin uzayıyla ilişkili çeşitli kapsama teoremleri sunulmuştur.     Investigation of Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in Photonic-like Welded Materials Using the Finite Element Method

    In this study, two identical and two dissimilar materials are conjoined by applying the friction welding method to yield various rods. This investigation's primary focus entails examining the repercussions associated with the heat-affected zone (HAZ) arising from elevated temperatures at the welding interfaces on the propagation of electromagnetic (EM) waves within the resultant structures. The study incorporates the photonic crystal approach in conjunction with Maxwell's equations, and the subsequent solution of the latter is executed using the finite element method. The subdivision of the structures into fifteen elements is predicated upon the assumption of the electromagnetic wave number of the m-th segment, km, of discrete segments. The finite element method is then administered to the HAZ regions of the structures, wherein the HAZ is discretised into one, three, and five elements, respectively

    Comparison of renal function tests of intensive care unit patients using polymyxin or colistin

    Tıp Fakültesi, İç Hastalıkları Ana Bilim DalıYoğun Bakım Ünitelerinde (YBÜ) yatmakta olan hastalarda enfeksiyon hastalıkları, önemli bir mortalite ve morbidite sebebi olarak karşımıza çıkar. Antibiyotiklere karşı bakteriyel direnç de bu duruma katkıda bulunur. Polimiksin B ve kolistin, nefrotoksik ve nörotoksik yan etkileri nedeniyle kullanımı azaltılmış olan, ancak ÇİD mikroorganizmalara karşı etkinlikleri nedeniyle klinikte yeniden yer bulan, lipopeptid yapıda, eski antibiyotiklerdir. Polimiksin B ve kolistin arasında karşılaştırılabilir terapötik etkinliğe ve daha düşük nefrotoksik potansiyele sahip olan ilaç diğerine tercih edilecektir. Çeşitli komorbiditeleri olan YBÜ hastalarında tedavi sırasında ABH geliştirme potansiyelini karşılaştırmak için özel olarak tasarlanmış, yeterli istatistiksel güce sahip bir klinik çalışma halen yoktur. Çalışmamızda 1 Ocak 2017-1 Kasım 2022 tarihleri arasında Tekirdağ Namık Kemal Üniversitesi Araştırma Hastanesi'nde Dahiliye Yoğun Bakım Ünitesi ve Anesteziyoloji ve Reanimasyon Yoğun Bakım Ünitesi'nde yatmış olan hastalar dahil edildi. Kolistin veya polimiksin B uygulanan 18-80 yaş aralığındaki hastaların retrospektif olarak değerlendirilerek böbrek fonksiyon testlerinin ve ABH gelişim oranlarının karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmamıza en az 7 gün süreyle antibiyoterapi uygulanmış olan, toplam 158 YBÜ hastası dahil edildi. Bu hastaların, tedavi süresince böbrek fonksiyon testleri ve KDIGO ABH kılavuzunca ABH gelişim oranları, gelişmişse ABH evreleri ve ABH oluşum süreleri, mortalite durumları incelendi. Sonuç olarak, çalışmamızda kolistin uygulanan hastalarda ABH gelişiminin, polimiksin B uygulanan hastalara göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde daha sık olduğu görüldü (p=0,008). ABH gelişen hastalarda hangi günlerde ABH geliştiği incelenerek; 24.saatte gelişenler, 48.saatte gelişenler ve ilk 7 günde gelişenler olmak üzere 3 sınıfa ayrılmıştır. 24.saatte ve ilk 7 günde ABH gelişimi açısından kolistin ve polimiksin B uygulanan hastalar arasında istatistiksel anlamlı fark saptanmazken 48.saatte ABH gelişimi açısından kolistin ve polimiksin B uygulanan hastalar arasında istatistiksel anlamlı fark saptandı (p=0,041). ABH gelişen hastaların, ABH gelişmeyen hastalara göre anlamlı derecede daha yüksek mortaliteye sahip olduğu görüldü (p=0,034). Polimiksin B veya kolistin uygulanıp ABH gelişen hastalarda mortalite oranları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark tespit edilmedi (p=0,930).Infectious diseases are an important cause of mortality and morbidity in patients hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU). Bacterial resistance to antibiotics also contributes to this condition. Polymyxin B and colistin are old antibiotics with a lipopeptide structure, the use of which has been reduced due to their nephrotoxic and neurotoxic side effects, but has found a new place in the clinic due to their effectiveness against MDR microorganisms. The drug with comparable therapeutic efficacy and lower nephrotoxic potential between polymyxin B and colistin would be preferred over the other. There is currently no clinical trial with sufficient statistical power specifically designed to compare the potential for developing AKI during treatment in ICU patients with various comorbidities. In our study, patients who were hospitalized in the Internal Medicine Intensive Care Unit and Anesthesiology and Reanimation Intensive Care Unit at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Research Hospital between January 1, 2017 and November 1, 2022 were included. We aimed to compare renal function tests and AKI development rates by retrospectively evaluating patients between the ages of 18-80 who were administered colistin or polymyxin B. A total of 158 ICU patients who received antibiotic therapy for at least 7 days were included in our study. Kidney function tests of these patients during the treatment, AKI development rates according to the KDIGO AKI guideline, AKI stages if developed, duration of AKI formation, and mortality status were examined. As a result, in our study, it was observed that the development of AKI in patients administered colistin was statistically significantly more frequent than in patients administered polymyxin B (p=0.008). By examining on which days AKI developed in patients who developed AKI; they are divided into 3 classes: those that develop in the 24th hour, those that develop in the 48th hour, and those that develop in the first 7 days. While there was no statistically significant difference between the patients treated with colistin and polymyxin B in terms of the development of AKI at the 24th hour and in the first 7 days, a statistically significant difference was detected between the patients treated with colistin and polymyxin B in terms of the development of AKI at the 48th hour (p=0.041). It was observed that patients who developed AKI had a significantly higher mortality than patients who did not develop AKI (p=0.034). No statistically significant difference was detected between the mortality rates in patients who were administered polymyxin B or colistin and developed AKI (p=0.930)

    The study aims to analyze the financial development-renewable energy consumption relationship in case of Turkey within the 1980-2020 period. The study incorporates economic growth, technological innovation and oil price into the renewable energy specification as additional variables. The ARDL and Toda-Yamamoto procedures are applied to conduct the cointegration and causality analyses. The findings point out the cointegrtaion between economic growth, financial development, technological innovation, oil price and renewable energy use under the structural breaks. The findings also indicate that financial development, economic growth and technological iinovation are positively related to renewable energy consumption. It is found that the causality between financial development and renewable energy consumption is bidirectional. All the empirical findings has several important implications for policymakers.Bu çalışma finansal gelişme-yenilenebilir enerji kullanımı ilişkisini Türkiye ekonomisi örneğinde 1980-2020 dönemi için analiz etme amacı taşır. Çalışma ekonomik büyüme, teknolojik yenilik ve petrol fiyatını yenilenebilir enerji modeline ilave değişkenler olarak entegre eder. ARDL ve Toda-Yamamoto prosedürleri eşbütünleşme ve nedensellik analizleri için uygulanmaktadır. Bulgular ekonomik büyüme, finansal gelişme, teknolojik yenilik, petrol fiyatı ve yenilenebilir enerji kullanımı arasında bir eşbütünleşmeye işaret etmektedir. Bulgular finansal gelişme, ekonomik büyüme ve teknolojik yeniliğin yenilenebilir enerji tüketimi ile pozitif ilişkide olduğunu göstermektedir. Finansal gelişme ile yenilenebilir enerji tüketimi arasındaki nedenselliğin çift yönlü olduğu belirlenmektedir. Tüm ampirik sonuçlar politika yapıcıları için önemli eğilimler içermektedir.Herhangi bir destek kurumu bulunmamaktadı

    The Effects of Silver Nitrate and Pre-Cold Treatments on Callus Formation in Strawberry Anther Culture

    Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) which is one of the widely grown berry species in the world has economic and commercial importance. In commercial strawberry varieties, in order to increase yield and quality, it is necessary to obtain starting materials that are resistant/tolerant to biotic and abiotic stress factors. Biotechnological methods have an important place in strawberry breeding studies due to the long and costly process of classical breeding methods, the genetic expansion of seed production, high ploidy level and strong heterozygosity. Haploid plant production is an efficient breeding method that has been successfully applied to most plant species. However, due to the lack of sufficient haploid studies on strawberry and the fact that a specific protocol for this species has not yet been developed the necessary progress has not been made in this regard. In this study, the effectiveness of some factors determine the success in anther culture which has a significant place in obtaining haploid strawberries was investigated. For this reason, first, different sodium hypochlorite doses (NaOCl; 1%, 2%, 3%) and application durations (10, 15, 20 min) were used to determine the appropriate method for sterilisation, then cold pre-treatments (24, 36, 48, 72 hours at +4 °C) and different silver nitrate doses (AgNO3; 10, 20, 30, 40 mg l-1) were employed for callus induction in Festival strawberry variety. At the conclusion of the study it was observed that the lowest contamination rate (1%) was obtained by soaking in 1% sodium hypochlorite solution for 10 minutes. Cold pre-treatment of flower buds at +4 °C for 36 hours produced the highest callus induction rate (96%). The evaluation of the effect of AgNO3 application at different doses on the callus induction rate revealed that the highest callus induction (82%) was obtained from 20 mg l-1 AgNO3 dosage. This study showed that anther culture practices in strawberry can be improved by using cold pre-treatment, appropriate sterilization method and silver nitrate addition to the medium

    Classification of retinal fundus images with deep learning for diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy

Bu amaçla, popüler bir veri seti olan APTOS 2019 veri setinin 224x224 filtrelenmiş versiyonu seçilmiş olup, bu veri setinden, çok sınıflı ve az sınıflı olmak üzere toplamda 5 adet yeni veri seti daha oluşturulmuştur. Orijinal veri seti ve yeni oluşturulan yeni veri setlerine, CNN tabanlı mimariler (5 Layer CNN, EfficientNetB0, EfficientNetB1, VGG16, VGG16-TL, VGG19-TL, MobilNet, MobileNet V2, bizim tasarladığımız CNN, GoogleNet, DenseNet121 ve ResNet50) uygulanarak ve farklı veri bölümlendirmeleri seçilerek (80-20 eğitim-test, 3,5 ve 10 kez çapraz doğrulama) geniş çaplı bir modelleme çalışması yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, hastalık seviyesinin sınıflandırması için en iyi model, %94.82 test doğruluk başarısı ile MobilNet V2 modeli olarak; hastalık tahmini için de en iyi model, %99.26 test doğruluk başarısı ile DenseNet121 modeli olarak bulunmuştur.In this study, the diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy and the determination of the level of the disease is considered as a classification problem and prediction is attempted. For this purpose, the 224x224 filtered version of the APTOS 2019 dataset, which is a popular dataset, was selected and a total of 5 new datasets were created from this dataset, including multi-class and low-class datasets. A large-scale modeling study was conducted by applying CNN-based architectures (5 Layer CNN, EfficientNetB0, EfficientNetB1, VGG16, VGG16-TL, VGG19-TL, MobilNet, MobileNet V2, our designed CNN, GoogleNet, DenseNet121 and ResNet50) to the original dataset and the newly created new datasets and by choosing different data partitions (80-20 training-testing, 3,5 and 10 times cross-validation). As a result, the best model for disease level classification was found to be the MobilNet V2 model with 94.82% test accuracy and the best model for disease prediction was found to be the DenseNet121 model with 99.26% test accuracy

As a result of the expansion of areas such as recycling, waste management, social responsibility projects and practices, and the focus of R&D studies on sustainable projects, a green transition in employment emerges. Nowadays, green-collar workers have become a priority in every sector. Employees and employee candidates who have the talents and skills to achieve sustainability and green transformation criteria in areas such as green economy, green finance, green logistics, green production, green energy, waste management, sustainable social health, for the targets expected to be realized in the context of sustainable development goals and a sustainable future. It has become the new trend for employment. In this study, the issue of green transition in employment will be examined by compiling current data and information on green-collar employees.     Evolving a Methodology for Assessing Pesticide Pressure on Water Bodies under Data Scarce Conditions: A Case Study on the Marmara Basin in Türkiye

    In this study, current pesticide use was determined on the basis of active substances (ASs) in each water body in the Marmara Basin, which is the most crowded region of Turkiye and where agriculture is intensive. The risks of detected pesticide ASs were then categorized in terms of usage amount, water body monitoring results, and hazardous characteristics. At the same time, a system was proposed for determining pesticide use on an AS basis, based on the product planted in districts that do not have detailed information on AS use. Finally, a methodology for assessing pesticide pressure on water bodies was developed by utilizing pesticide risk based on the determined AS types under data scarcity conditions. The topic undertaken is current and extremely important in the era of food safety, and is related to growing pressure on water, on one hand, and human health and quality of food products, on the other. Data based on ASs are hard to record and store, particularly in developing countries; therefore, a data inventory was initially realized in the study as an essential step towards an assessment procedure. The easy-to-use pesticide pressure determination methodology was developed and applied to the Marmara Basin of Turkiye, ensuring compliance with the Water framework Directive (WFD) and EU Green Deal. Constraints experienced during the application of the developed methodology are put forth with the intention of providing utilizable information to those international scientists who will be interested in practicing it in the future. Therefore, transposition of the methodology to other basins in different countries will be possible. According to 2021 data, 0.04-8.83 kg/ha pesticide and 173 pesticide active substances were used in the basin. ASs were prioritized over four criteria based on the amount of use, hazardous properties, and monitoring results. Consequently, 52 active substances were determined and included in the risk group. Taking these criteria into consideration, all the 276 agricultural water bodies in the basin were revealed to be under pesticide pressure
