Back2Basics: Developing a Gamified Intervention Material in Teaching Basic Mathematical Skills in Physics
Physics is often seen as a challenging subject. Low achievement in Physics is linked to a need to have strong foundational skills in mathematics aside from comprehension and critical thinking. However, conventional teaching methods often bore students and worsen learning. This study tackled this issue by introducing a Gamified Intervention Class (GIC) designed to improve academic achievement among Grade 8 students. Using a quasi-experimental approach, the study measured student performance through pre- and post- tests in both high and low performing homogeneous sections. The GIC was developed utilizing the “How to Gamify?” model and included elements outlined in Toda (2019) et al’s framework. The material underwent reviews and revisions based on ten (10) evaluators to ensure clarity, accuracy, and usability of the material. The findings showed that normalized gain scores improved better in high-performing sections than in low-performing counterparts. In conclusion, the GIC proves to be a potential innovative tool in teaching basic skills in physics due to its fun and enjoyable sensation. However, refinements must be made to help low-performing classes to improve as well
Socio Economic Implications of Urban Poverty in Tamil Nadu: A Field Survey Study
Though Poverty has been a serious issue in the development process across the world for quite a long period of time and alleviation of poverty has been one of the major challenges faced by most of the countries of the world, the issue of urban poverty is not new, but it is often narrowly viewed as an economic issue that is best addressed by economic policies and interventions. The SDG 1, also known as the “No Poverty” goal, is a global effort to eradicate extreme poverty and reduce income inequality by 2030. This goal is of utmost importance because poverty is a pervasive and complex issue that affects billions of people around the world. It can have serious consequences for individuals, communities, and economies, including poor health, limited access to education and other essential services, and reduced economic opportunity. Poverty is currently a serious socio economic concern in India. In spite of a number urban poverty alleviation measures taken by the government still the incidence of poverty exists and further there are social, economic and regional variations observed both at macro level as well as micro level. Hence, the present study tries to study the socio economic implications of urban poverty in one of the recently incepted Corporations of Tamil Nadu, Thanjavour through field survey. This analysis attempts to study the Socio Demographic background of the sample respondents; to analyse the Income and Expenditure Pattern of the selected sample respondents; and to suggest possible policy measures to reduce the incidence of urban poverty to improve the standard of living of the respondents of the study area. Urban poverty today, as driven by globalization and rapid uncontrolled urbanization, also needs to be recognized as a social, political, and cultural process that has profound impacts on overall economic progress
A comprehensive Study of Trends and Patterns of Cargo Theft and Implications on Seaport Security
Cargo theft continues to pose a persistent and costly threat to global trade, with billions of dollars lost each year across seaports, inland terminals, and transport corridors. This paper offers a comprehensive literature-based analysis of cargo theft, examining global theft trends, regional prevalence comparative patterns and variation between 2020 and 2024. Drawing on secondary data from academic studies, institutional reports, and maritime security organizations such as the British Standards Institution (BSI), TT Club, and the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA), the study identifies key hotspot nations including Brazil, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, India, and the United States. The findings indicate global spike in Cargo theft in 2022 attributed to trade normalization in post-COVID inflation with high-value, easily transportable goods frequently targeted. The study also revealed gaps in reporting and data collection. The paper utilizes Rational Choice Theory and Defensible Space Theory to explore the underlying motivations for cargo theft and the influence of environmental design on crime deterrence. It also highlights significant gaps in security infrastructure, policing capacity, and inter-agency collaboration, particularly in developing regions. In response, the study advocates for a multi-layered security strategy that integrates surveillance technologies, international collaboration, and harmonized policy frameworks. This review contributes to the criminological discourse on supply chain security and offers practical guidance for policymakers, port authorities, and security professionals
Enhancing Pupils’ Memorization in Mathematical Concepts Through Customized Song Adaptations
Mathematics is often perceived by elementary pupils as a problematic and intimidating subject, leading to low engagement and poor retention of concepts. This study investigated the usefulness of modified songs in leveling up the memorization of concepts in mathematics among fifth-grade pupils at a public school in Ozamiz City (S.Y. 2024–2025). A quasi-experimental method was employed, with 40 carefully selected pupils participating. The data were collected using the pre-test and post-test. The investigation revealed a very low degree of memory before the songs were adapted, but a considerable increase was observed in their use. Statistical analysis confirmed a notable rise in test scores, while qualitative data revealed greater engagement, enjoyment, and confidence in learning mathematics. The findings suggest that integrating music-based strategies into instruction can effectively support concept retention and improve the overall learning experience in mathematics
Improving the Performance through Mental Health and Discipline of Indonesian Air Force Members
This study aims to analyze the influence of mental health, ability, and discipline on the performance of members at Adi Soemarmo Air Base in Solo. The background of this study is based on the importance of human resource quality in military organizations that demand simultaneous physical, psychological, and moral readiness. Optimal performance is not only determined by technical ability, but also by an individual's mental condition and level of discipline. This study uses a quantitative approach with a census method on the entire population of 87 members of the Adi Soemarmo Air Base. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 25.0. The results showed that simultaneously, the variables of mental health, ability, and discipline had a significant effect on member performance. Partially, these three variables also had a positive and significant effect on performance. Of the three independent variables, work discipline is the most dominant factor affecting performance, with the highest regression coefficient of 0.269. This finding confirms that discipline is a significant factor in shaping effective and efficient work behavior in a military environment. In addition, stable mental health enables members to work productively, manage stress, and contribute positively to the team and organization. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of strengthening mental coaching programs and continuous work discipline training to improve the professionalism and performance of Indonesian Air Force soldiers. This study also provides a theoretical contribution to the development of human resource management in military organizations by highlighting the synergy between psychological aspects, competence, and discipline as the main determinants of performance

Responsibilities of Prosecutors in Resolving Civil Disputes through Non-Litigation Mechanisms
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), or dispute resolution outside of litigation, has increasingly developed as an efficient solution, avoiding time-consuming and costly court procedures. ADR, such as arbitration, offers a win-win solution that is more beneficial for the disputing parties. In the context of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), which play a crucial role in the national economy, dispute resolution often requires quick and precise intervention. The State Attorney (Jaksa Pengacara Negara, JPN) has authority in civil and administrative law matters, allowing them to handle disputes outside of court on behalf of the state, government, or BUMN. Despite its vital role, many are still unaware of the full use of JPN in non-litigation dispute resolution. This study examines the regulatory framework of the prosecutor's authority in resolving civil disputes through non-litigation channels and their roles and responsibilities. This research uses normative legal research methods with a statutory and conceptual approach. The study concludes that the authority of the Jaksa Pengacara Negara is attributed, which is inherent to the position and regulated by law, enabling the prosecutor to act on behalf of the state, government, or public interests in civil and administrative matters. This authority includes litigation and non-litigation actions, regulated across various regulations such as the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, Presidential Regulations, and Attorney General Regulations. The JPN executes tasks through cooperation with the government or BUMN/D, starting with providing legal advice and special power of attorney. They aim to enforce the law, protect state assets, and safeguard public interests. More specific regulation of the JPN's authority is necessary in separate regulations to ensure legal certainty. Additionally, the socialization of the role of the Jaksa Pengacara Negara needs to be enhanced, along with the development of prosecutors' capacity to perform their duties
The Main Barriers to Youth Political Participation in Botswana
Youth participation in elections should not only be limited to voting, they must be seen as potential leaders with the capability of contributing to the progress of society. This paper explores the main barriers to youth political participation in Botswana and uses a qualitative approach to assess the barriers youth face in politics. In-depth interviews were used to collect data from civil society organizations, political parties, academia, and government. The results reveal that young people find themselves in political parties dominated by elders, with fewer resources exacerbated by high unemployment, blocking their meaningful political participation. The lack of civic education, political socialisation, societal attitude and mentality towards the youth further affects their behaviour towards politics. Moreover, youth are also part of the problem because of their perception of politics and failure to invest in their political careers to make a meaningful contribution

This study investigates the influence of the digital divide on the job search behaviour of educated urban youth in Aizawl, Mizoram. In a rapidly digitizing world, digital access and literacy are crucial in determining employability and access to job opportunities. Using primary data collected from 304 graduates and postgraduates who completed their degrees within the last three years, the research explores their preferred modes of application, frequency of job applications, and use of the state-run job portal hnainpui.com.
Findings reveal that while 49.3% of the respondents use online modes to apply for jobs, a substantial 43.4% still rely on offline applications. Only 16.8% had used hnainpui.com, highlighting low awareness and possibly usability challenges. Moreover, 52% had not applied for any jobs in the past six months, signalling a deeper issue of limited digital engagement and structural constraints. Key challenges identified include digital illiteracy, lack of awareness about online platforms, inadequate internet infrastructure, and a reliance on intermediaries. To address these gaps, the study recommends improving digital literacy through workshops, simplifying employment portal interfaces, and launching targeted awareness campaigns. A mobile-first approach, better portal integration with social media, and digital job fairs could further enhance engagement. Bridging this digital divide is essential to improving labour market participation and employment outcomes for Aizawl’s youth
