    Get PDF
In this paper, we report the design of a signal conditioning and acquisition elements of a chopped broadband radiation pyrometer for measuring temperature in the range of 900 0C to 1200 0 C. We also report the selection of a suitable chopping frequency within the physical properties of the system and provided the calibration characteristics for the pyrometer. Based on the results, it was found that the designed signal conditioning circuit was able to produce an output voltage of 0.24 – 0.60 V corresponding to the temperature measuring range of the pyrometer. This was achieved through the use of a phase-sensitive detector (PSD) in the form of a lock-in amplifier in combination with a low pass filter. A suitable chopping frequency of 30 Hz was chosen for the shutter pulse so that the detector can have sufficient time to settle before the next shutter pulse transition. Finally, the result also shows that the calibration characteristic of the pyrometer presumes an approximately linear relationship

    Get PDF
Cloud Computing refers to applications and services that run on a distributed network using virtualized resources and accessedby common protocol and networking standards. Cloud computing, abstracts the details of system implementation from users anddevelopers. Cloud computing is portioned in three different types of service provision. In each case, the service is hosted remotelyand accessed over the network (usually the internet) through software called a web browser, rather than been installed locally ona customer’s computer. the first among the service is; SaaS (Software as a service), which refers to the provision of software inthe cloud. Secondly, PaaS (Platform as a service), refers to the provision of service that enables customers to deploy in the supply.Thirdly, IaaS (Infrastructure as a service) refers to services providing computer processing power, storage space and networkcapacity, which enables customers to run arbitrary software (including operating systems and network applications) in the cloud. Moreover, there is a need for cloud computing in the society today to obtain an optimum service. APA referencing format wasused to acknowledge those who have done some work in this area. The method adopted for the analysis of the system in thisproject work questionnaire development is sampling and data collection. The intention of this project work is of two folds; first; toidentify the level of trust the users have in using cloud computing services; secondly; to identify the societal challenges foradopting cloud computing, and the solutions from real-world for the challenges that do not have proper mitigation strategiesidentified through literature review

Lignocellulose is the most abundant and renewable biomaterial on the earth. Conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into fermentable sugars by cellulase enzymes (Saccharification) has significant advantages over other alternative energy productionstrategies. Although both bacteria and fungi can produce cellulase enzymes, the latter has potential in producing more efficientcellulases. This study was initiated with isolation and screening of cellulolytic fungi from six places of banana growing fields. Sixfungal isolates were obtained in this research and two isolates showed cellulolytic activity according to plate screening assay. Byexamining their microscopic morphology, these two isolates were belonging to two genera i.e. Penicillium and Trichoderma.Morphological observation was done on various media. The glucose production patterns of these two cellulolytic fungi wereinvestigated in two broth cultures with different carbon sources. One culture medium contained cellulose and another onecontained dried and ground banana psuedostem powder as sole carbon sources. A glucose standard curve was constructed toestimate the glucose concentration in the broth culture media of the two fungi. Along the 20-day period of incubation, Penicilliumsp. produced the most amount of glucose,440.2651µg/mL, at 6th day in cellulose media. In banana powder media, glucoseconcentration in the culture of Trichoderma sp.,288.1893 µg/mL, at 8th day was more than that in the culture of Penicillium sp.during 20 days of investigation. Knowing the glucose production time and amount of cellulolytic fungi would be useful for the next upcoming research works

    Get PDF
The Democratic Republic of Congo is willing to develop its natural underground resources in sight to increase its economy. Tothis end, the oil and gas potential of its sedimentary basins is now the new target. Into the Cuvette-centrale sedimentary basinseveral exploration works were carried out since 1950s. Among these works we have the magnetic survey done in 1980 yearwhich provided us the data used in this paper. The source rocks as well as the potential reservoir rocks and some oil seeps thathave been recognized in this gigantic basin encourage researchers to find favorable geological structures for the accumulation ofhydrocarbons in this sedimentary basin. Indeed, it is for this purpose that we have been interested to determine the regionalgeological structures in the southern part of this basin from magnetic data. After analysis, processing, and interpretation of thedata, it found that the Kutu, Oshwe, Bagata, Bulungu and Idiofa areas contain geological structures contributing to the confirmation of the existence of an active petroleum system. Concretely, on one hand and from the shape of the crystallinebasement we arrived to determine several faults and folds that can be taken as the excellent hydrocarbon traps and on the otherhand, ditches that are privileged and favorable environments for the maturation of source rocks

Oral and dental infections are among the most prevalent infections of man. All people suffer from dental caries at some phase oftheir life span. The mouth is indeed an important source of infections and poor oral health affects a variety of systemic diseases. The aim of this research is to isolate, identify acid-producing lactic acid bacteria (LAB) from fermented fruits juice and followedby the 16S rRNA gene sequences of the isolated bacterial strains Lactobacillus Plantarum S1, Leuconostoc mesenteroides (SCand PP) and Burkholderia cenocepia NP were compared with reference strain sequences. Oral Streptococci were important inthe etiology of dental caries. We targeted for isolation and biochemical identification of oral bacteria (isolates grown in SMABagar) and screened antibacterial activity (agar well diffusion assay) of Lactobacillus species against oral Streptococci. Two Lactobacillus isolates (S1 and PP) were observed to behave a good antagonistic activity against oral Streptococcus strain withdifferences in the size of inhibition zone (mm). The zone diameter of NP broth against Streptococcus sp. was 10 mm. Oral Streptococci was not inhibited by SC broth. In this study, Leuconostoc mesenteroides (PP) showed the highest inhibition zone(13 mm) against oral Streptococci
