Structural and Mechanical Properties of Chitosan Doped with Zirconium Oxide

In this work, chitosan (CTS) powder has been doped with zirconium oxide (ZrO2) at different wt.% in order to improve the mechanical strength of the composites for biomedical applications. The composites have been prepared by ball milling method and the sintering has been done at three temperatures 100°C, 150°C and 180°C for 3 hours in air. The crystalline structure of the composites was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and the crystallite size of the composites decreases with increasing the percentage of ZrO2 and sintering temperature. The improvement of mechanical strength of the composites with the addition of ZrO2 in CTS polymer matrix has been investigated using micro-Vickers hardness tester and observed that the hardness of the prepared composite increased to 536 MPa when 90 wt.% CTS doped with 10 wt.% ZrO2 at 180°C of sintering temperature, demonstrating that the composites can be a potential candidate in bone tissue engineering.
Analysis of Effectiveness Measurement of Stretch Blow Machine Using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Method
Get PDFThis study aims to measure the effectiveness of the Stretch Blow machine at PT. X by calculating the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) value. Stretch Blow Machine is one of the machines used in the manufacturing process of plastic bottles. These machines often suffer damage so that targets and product quality are often not achieved. The purpose of this study was to determine the most dominant factor of the Six Big Losses on the Stretch Blow Machine. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. Based on the results of data processing and analysis, it shows that the average value of Overall Equipment Effectiveness OEE for the period January 2017-December 2017 is 43.89%, while the OEE World Class Value is> 85%. For that it is necessary to do research using quality control tools, namely Pareto and fishbone diagrams. The results of the data analysis with the Pareto diagram found that the largest Idling Minor and Stoppage Losses is 39.28%. The causes of Idling Minor and Stoppage Loses based on the results of the fishbone diagram analysis are lack of mechanical operator skills, unavailable engine spare parts, machine maintenance schedules are not running and the quality of engine spare parts is not suitable. The improvement plan of the factors causing Idling Minor and Stoppage Loses using 5W + 1H have to be implemented so that the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) value of the Stretch Blow Machine could be increased.
 
The Effect of Profitability, Company Size, Company Growth on Firm Value Through Capital Structure in Food and Beverage Companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange 2014-2018 Period
Get PDFThis research was conducted to examine the effect of profitability, company size and company growth on firm value through the capital structure of food and beverage companies listed on the IDX for the 2014-2018 period. The analysis was carried out using secondary data, namely financial reports on the Indonesian Stock Exchange. The technique used in sampling is purposive sampling. The number of samples obtained were 11 food and beverage companies. The analysis technique uses path analysis. The results of the analysis show that profitability has a positive (significant) effect on capital structure, firm size and firm growth has no effect on capital structure, profitability has a positive (significant) effect on firm value. Firm size and company growth have no effect on firm value, capital structure has a negative (significant) effect on firm value. This research shows that investors and traders only pay attention to the profitability of the company to assess the company, have not considered the size of the company and the growth of the company and the capital structure
Implementation of PDCA Cycle to Improve Quality of Animal Protein Levels in Traditional Medicinal Products
Get PDFThis Traditional medicine company as one of the pharmaceutical companies in Indonesia since 2000 has conducted research to find “active ingredients of medicines” from natural ingredients native to Indonesia. This herbal medicine production process produces animal protein extract product derived from cork fish that are rich in albumin. However, when the evaporation process the protein content produced is below the set standards, so that the impact on protein extraction result is less than the maximum. The evaporation process aims to get extracts that are highly concentrated by efforts to reduce the solvent in the product so that it only leaves the active ingredients alone. By evaporating the product in a vessel accompanied by a vacuum so that the activity level of protein content contained in the product can be increased. To prevent the decrease in activity of protein levels, resulting from evaporation. Effort were made to increase the activity of protein levels in the evaporation process using the Plan-Do-Check-Action method, the results obtained from the improvement process with the PDCA pattern this was found to be improved by increasing protein levels by 73.43%, with these results expected to optimize the efficacy and quality of the medicinal product for consumption

Design and Fabrication of Leafy Vegetable Shredding Machine
Get PDFWith the growing world population, the need for vegetables due to its economic importance, nutritional value and viability cannot be overemphasized. In an attempt to add value to vegetables before domestically using them, a motorized electric- driven machine has been developed in order to circumvent the challenges of time consumption, contamination and injuries associated with the manual process of shredding vegetables using sharp knife. Shredding of vegetables is a process of cutting vegetables into thin slices or pieces using a sharp knife, food processor or grater. The vegetable shredding machine which works on shear principle was designed and fabricated using locally sourced materials from the opinion of new idea and tested. The performance test evaluation shows that the machine driven by a 1hp electric motor has an average performance cutting time of 30.2seconds for a full hopper volume of 2319. 8cm3 which is equivalent to 78.87kg of vegetables with an efficiency of 89.35% and a throughput capacity of 9400.48kg/h. The shredding processing machine is made up of simple components that can be easily assembled. Thus,the operation and maintenance is quite easy

No full textThis study was conducted to determine some of the nutrient and anti-nutritional factors in commonly consumed Lima beans (Phaseolus lunatus) foods in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The foods include lima bean porridge, lima bean-benniseed and lima bean-hungry rice. The foods were subjected to proximate, minerals and antinutrients analysis using standard procedures and analytical methods. Proximate composition shows that lima bean-benniseed food had higher content of crude protein (8.33%), crude fat (13.46%), crude fibre (4.09%) and ash (2.28%) compared to other foods while lima bean porridge had significantly (P<0.05) higher carbohydrate (24.58%) content than other foods. The protein content of lima bean porridge and lima bean-benniseed foods were significantly (P<0.05) higher than lima bean-hungry rice food. The mineral content Zn, K, Mg, and Ca of lima bean-benniseed food were significantly (P<0.05) higher than other foods. Zn content was very low and ranged from 0.40±0.01 to 0.66±0.01 for lima bean-hungry rice and lima bean-benniseed respectively. Lima bean porridge had higher content of iron and sodium. The iron content range was from 4.31±0.02 to 5.83±0.03 while sodium content range was from 17.45±0.02 to 23.88±0.01. Antinutrients cyanide, tannin and phytate content in all the foods decreased significantly (P<0.05) when compared with raw lima beans; lima bean-hungry rice food had significantly (P<0.05) lower content of tannin than other foods. This study shows that foods prepared with lima beans possess good nutritional profile and an increase in consumption of these foods has potential to improve dietary diversity, decrease malnutrition and its debilitating effects, especially for the vulnerable group which includes children, women and the elderly

Get PDFLocal wisdom as a legacy of the past is still found in the lives of the people of Aceh, especially in rural areas. One form of local wisdom that is still practiced today in the life of the people of Aceh is the customary Peusijuek. This study aims to describe and analyze. To describe and analyze the implementation of the tradition of peusijuek as a medium of social and cultural communication in Doy Village, Ulee Kareng District, Banda Aceh City and explore peusijuek in Gampong Doy, Ulee Kareng District, Banda Aceh City. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collected through observations, interviews, and relevant documents. Data analysis was made using an interactive process (Milles and Huberman) with stages of data collection, data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing and verification to explain the concept of the tradition of peuijuek, and communication media. The results of this study indicate that the peuijuek procession begins by preparing ingredients that have quite a deep meaning such as plain flour, rice, leaves, and sticky rice. When everything is ready, then the peuijuek event will take place. The person who was guided was sitting quietly, and the person who was standing was standing and was also ready with an envelope containing the money to be given after the event was over. Peusijuek is usually done by elders in the community, such as Tengku (Ustadz) or Umi Chik (Ustadzah). If the family itself is usually done by mother, father, or all that is elder. The sequence of the peuijuek program begins with prayer, then sprinkles rice on the person who is patronized. Then sprinkle fresh flour water from left to right and from right to left, and occasionally crossed. Next, wash your hands and then pinch the pulut rice and feed it to the visitor. In essence, the same is to ask for prayer to the Almighty to be given the blessing, safety and peace of life. The final process of peuijuek is to slip an envelope filled with money to those who are guided. In principle, Peusijuek is to ask for safety, peace and happiness in life. The values contained in Peusijuek are religious values, philosophical values and cultural values. The final process of peuijuek is to slip an envelope filled with money to those who are guided. On the other hand, the emergence of various developments in information technology, connectivity and smartphones are also slowly able to change the way consumers meet the needs of a product or service. This research was conducted for the intention to examine the effect of e-service quality on e-satisfaction and implications on B2C consumer repurchase online. Data was taken using an online questionnaire and distributed to B2C consumers with the last amount of data collected as many as 312 questionnaires and then be analyzed using the partial least square method. The results of the analysis show that e-service quality provides a significant positive effect on e-satisfaction and online repurchase for B2C consumers. In other results show e-satisfaction has a significant effect on the online repurchase and is able to be a partial mediator of the relationship of e-service quality with the online repurchase of B2C consumers
