MACHINE VISION: AN IMPORTANT PILLAR OF INDUSTRY 4.0
This article focuses on machine vision system which is one of the most important pillars of the industry 4.0. It demonstrates the locations and role of basic elements that are: used in machine vision system and their applications. The paper presents basic structure of the machine vision system with functions of the elements. It gives sequence of general flow processes. The paper explains different types and applications of machine vision systems that are used in an industry 4.0.The paper also explains the evolution of industry from 1.0 to 4.0 and basic components involved in the evolution. Important pillars of the industry 4.0 with their meanings are presented in brief. The basic challenges in implementations of machine vision system are outlined
Effects of Anthropogenic Activities on the Surface Water Quality of Idim Esiere Ebom Stream in Calabar South Lga, Cross River State, of Nigeria
The Idim Esiere Ebom Stream is a major source of freshwater in Garden street, Calabar South LGA of Cross River State, Nigeria, as well as a spring of potable water to the residents. However, there is the dearth of scientific information on the water quality of the stream; Thus, the need to evaluate its water quality. To this end, the effects of the physicochemical characteristics of the water quality and some heavy metals of the surface water and sediments of the Idim Esiere Ebom stream were studied. In this study, samples of the surface water and sediments were collected from 5 different stations of the stream monthly for 6 months (March-August) representing early wet (EW) season (March to May) and Peak wet (PW) season (June to August). The mean levels of the spatial and temporal distribution of Physicochemical parameters (pH, Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, Salinity, Total dissolved Solids, Electric conductivity, Turbidity, Biochemical Oxygen Demand) of surface water and heavy metals (Iron, Copper, Lead, Chromium, Cadmium and Nickel) of the surface water and sediments were determined. The results from the analysis were compared with national and international standards. From the results obtained, it was observed that levels of most physicochemical characteristics and heavy metals exceeded the permissible limits. In conclusion, the anthropogenic activities into the stream has an impact in some stations of the stream
NTC Thermistor Performance and Linearization of its Temperature-Resistance Characteristics Using Electronic Circuit
This paper critically discusses the performance of an NTC thermistor sensor in the temperature range 20 oC to 85 oC and provides a technique for linearization of the temperature sensed by the thermistor. The linearization was achieved by utilizing Wheatstone bridge electronic circuitry which responds to the thermistor and produces an output which is an exponential function of the temperature sensed by the thermistor sensor. A further simple and low-cost electronic circuitry responds to such output and converts the resistance measurement to provide a signal which represents the temperature. Moreover, the Wheatstone bridge signal conditioning circuitry was designed to have 0 – 100 mV output voltage within the considered temperature range. The physical characteristics of the thermistor (constant A and b ) were found to be 4.0015 x 10-5 ± 0.2956 x 10-5 Ω and 3514.8 ± 11.6 K respectively. The result also shows that the percentage nonlinearity was as low as 1.7 and a sensitivity value of 1.5661 mV/K was found for the thermistor, but the resolution of this thermistor sensor is 2 oC. However, the percentage of nonlinearity obtained was in agreement with the theoretical percentage nonlinearity
Analysis of the Influence of Character, Compensation and Teaching Experience on Teacher Professionalism in the Kepulauan Tanimbar Regency of Indonesia
This study aims to describe the character, compensation of teaching experience and teacher professionalism. The study also focuses to analyze the influence of compensation and teaching experience that has a dominant influence on teacher professionalism in the Kepulauan Tanimbar District. The number of samples in this study were 98 teachers. Data analysis techniques used multiple regression analysis, F -test and t-test. Based on the results of the analysis shows that the character, compensation and teaching experience simultaneously have a significant effect on teacher professionalism. The character, compensation and teaching experience partially have a significant effect on teacher professionalism. Teaching experience has a dominant influence on teacher professionalism
The Influence of School Culture, Teacher Performance, Principal Leadership on Quality of Education in High Schools in Ende Regency
This study aims to describe school culture, teacher performance, principal leadership and quality of education in senior high schools in Ende district, to examine school culture, teacher performance, and principal leadership, simultaneously affecting the quality of education in senior secondary schools in Ende district. examining school culture, teacher performance, and principal leadership partially affect the quality of education at high schools in Ende Regency, knowing the school culture variables, teacher performance, principal leadership, which have a dominant effect on the quality of education in senior high schools in Ende Regency. This type of research uses quantitative analysis with the method used is the quantitative description. The number of samples in this study were 72 respondents using the purposive sampling method. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis show that school culture, teacher performance, and principal leadership simultaneously have a significant effect on the quality of education in senior secondary schools in Ende district. Partially school culture does not have a significant effect on the quality of education in senior secondary schools in Ende district. Teacher performance and principal leadership partially have a significant effect on the quality of education in secondary schools in the Ende district
Modelling the Dependency of a Non-Steady Diffusion on Temperature of a Conductive Material
The concentration of a diffusing species is a function of both time and position, u = u(x,t). The species used in this paper was a copper which was allowed to diffuse into a bar of copper (a host metal). The analytic method was used to establish the concentration of the material with the independent variables x and t.The effect of temperature on concentration and the thermal diffusivity of a material D were determined using numerical simulation. The results were showed on diverse plots at different temperatures
Design and Fabrication of Pneumatic Can Crushing Machine
This paper is based on the design and fabricate of a pneumatic can crusher that will reduce to the smallest possible amount of the volume of aluminum cans by 70%. The can crusher is made up of various parts containing parts such as a lever, base frame, can bin, piston cylinder arrangement, chain sprocket mechanism and bearing. The inspiration behind this design came from the wastages in eateries, canteens of big companies where people gather and consume a lot of canned beverages. Thus, it makes sense that there should be an easy way to dispose of used cans properly during large social gatherings. The Can Crushing machine works with the help of pneumatic single acting cylinder. The machine is portable in size, and as such is easily transportable. Most companies find it difficult to dispose of their used cans in hotels and canteens and to create enough storage space that is required. This paper deals with the operations, the design and structural analysis of can crusher. A Can crusher is a device to reduce large material object into a smaller volume. The crusher reduces the size or change the form of waste materials so that they can be disposed off or recycled easily. The Can crushing machine is designed to crush aluminum waste cans by 80%. reduction in volume. It is used primarily to ease transportation of aluminum waste for recycling purposes. The machine is designed to smash an empty can of diameter 65mm and height 120mm to height of between 25mm to 30mm. It uses compressed air for its operations with the following component parts: pneumatic cylinder, solenoid valve, control unit and hoses. The cans are fed into the hopper and the cans travel in an orderly manner through the chute into the crushing chamber. The air compressor through the pneumatic cylinder supplies the required crushing force. The crushed cans drop through the created space into the collection tray below the crushing chamber

Development of Access Control Mechanism Based on Fingerprint Biometrics and Mobile Phone Identity for Industrial Internet of Things Critical Infrastructure Protection
This paper details the development of an access control mechanism based on fingerprint biometrics and mobile phone International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) modalities for the industrial internet of thing (Industrial IoT) Critical Infrastructure (CI) protection. The idea behind this study is to harden physical security through human identification and authentication processes to Smart CI places such as buildings, military bases, hospitals, airports and other important infrastructure. Fingerprint and mobile phone IMEI are very recognized and accepted identities hence used in police criminal investigation and legal community. Other uses of mobile phone identities include e-medicine, mobile banking, mobile money and remote machine operation. The main objective of this study is to develop a prototype application for authentication and identification of legitimate Industrial IoT human entities/objects based on the mentioned two identities as opposed to traditional knowledge (password, phrase or personal identification number (PIN) etc.,) and possession (token, smart card, identity card etc.,) based Access Control instruments. To achieve this, the study based on eXtreme programming methodology was conducted using visual studio 2010 on DotNet framework 4.0 with C# object oriented programming language. The backend database employed was MySQL open-source Relational database management system (RDMBS). The research produced a number of key results include the development of fingerprint biometric and mobile phone IMEI human identity security layers (modules) and many others. The developed prototype application performance was evaluated by enrolled some fingerprints, IMEI and captured related individual personal information. The result indicated 99.999% accuracy levels. In conclusion, the study shows that the integration of fingerprint and mobile phone IMEI identities in access control roles can improve the security of the Industrial IoT institution and alleviate problems associated with traditional identity authentication methods
The Use of Citrullus Lanatus for Corrosion Inhibition of A36 Steel in a CO2 Saturated Saline Solution: A Thermodynamic and Kinetic Model Approach
Citrullus lanatus was tested for its suitability as an Inhibitor on Mild Carbon Steel in a Carbon (IV) Oxide (CO2) saturated saline solution. The mechanism of corrosion was investigated with and without Inhibitor additive in order to compare the effectiveness of the Inhibitor. Thermodynamic computations namely Enthalpy, Entropy and Gibbs free energy were used to determine the Inhibitive property of the Citrullus lanatus Extract. In addition, four Kinetic Models namely; Langmuir, Temkin, Flory-Huggins and Frumkin were also used to fit the experimental data. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy and Fourier Transfer Infrared Spectroscopy were used to characterize the Watermelon Seed Extract. Analysis of the results shows that Inhibitor efficiency decreases with increasing Temperature. The result also shows Inhibition efficiency within the range of 17.39%-71.79%. From the Result, the test sample without Inhibitor has the least Activation Energy in comparison with those with Inhibitor additives. The investigation also revealed that the Frumkin model at 50oC best fits the Experimental data with a Coefficient of determination, R2 of 99.9%, though; the other Models also fit the Experimental data
Weighted Moving Average Method for Forecasting of Cryptocurrency Price: A Data Analytical Study on XRP Ripple Cryptocurrency
The aim of this study is to develop a reliable forecasting method for cryptocurrency namely XRP Ripple Cryptocurrency. The daily price of Ripple cryptocurrency collected from 1st October 2019 until 30th November 2019. This study implemented a forecasting method of simple moving average and the weighted moving average. The mean absolute percentage error for the simple moving average is 2.75%. Meanwhile, the mean absolute percentage error for weighted moving average is 2.25%. Therefore, the weighted moving average is more reliable forecasting method for predicting the price of Ripple cryptocurrency. The finding of this study helps investors to develop an investment portfolio with lower risk and higher returns
