Adherence To Infection Prevention Standard Precautions Among Health Care Workers In Embu Level 5 Hospital-Embu County Kenya
Standard precautions are a set of infection control practices used to prevent transmission of diseases that can be acquired by contact with blood, body fluids and non-intact skin. This is because it has the potential benefits of reducing disease burden on health care workers, patients, health institutions and the nation as a whole. This study was conducted with the main objective of establishing adherence to infection prevention standard precautions among health care workers in Embu Level 5 Hospital-Embu County Kenya. The study population consisted of all health workers working in Embu level 5 Hospital for more than 6 months. Data collection involved use of a pre-tested questionnaire for quantitative data and Focused Group Discussion (FGD) guide for qualitative data. The sample size was 211 participants. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 22 while chi square test was used to compare association between variables and content analysis for qualitative data. Data collected from respondents were cleaned, coded and entered in to a computer. The study found out that the demographic factors significantly associated with the uptake of adherence to IPC include; gender (p =0.0408), job carder (p =0.0492), education (p =0.0174), age (p =0.0063) and work experience (p =0.0192). It was also established that adhering or not adhering IPC is significantly associated with poor or good levels of injection safety (p<0.002), waste management (p =0.012), PPE use (p<0.018), hand hygiene (p= 0.022)
Comprehensive Review of K-Means Clustering Algorithms
This paper presents a comprehensive review of existing techniques of k-means clustering algorithms made at various times. The k-means algorithm is aimed at partitioning objects or points to be analyzed into well separated clusters. There are different algorithms for k-means clustering of objects such as traditional k-means algorithm, standard k-means algorithm, basic k-means algorithm and the conventional k-means algorithm, this are perhaps the most widely used versions of the k-means algorithms. These algorithms uses the Euclidean distance as its metric and minimum distance rule approach by assigning each data points (objects) to its closest centroids
Study on Microbiologically Induced Corrosion of Concrete in Sewer Waste Water
Concrete infrastructures that make up the sewer system exposed to sewer wastewaters are often subjected to microbial corrosion. The activity of sulfur-oxidizing bacteria Acidithiobacillus sp leads to the formation of biogenic sulfuric acid. The biogenic sulfuric acid plays a very vital role in sulfate attack on concrete leading to loss of concrete mass and deterioration. This paper presents the results of a laboratory study of concrete biodegradation by the activity of SOB A.thiooxidans. Concrete samples were immersed in real sewer wastewater under laboratory conditions for 14 months. Changes in chemical composition, weight loss, and sulfate concentration variation in the laboratory sewer were investigated. The influence of biogenic sulfuric acid on biocorrosion of concrete samples was determined in terms of weight loss, formation of corrosion by-products and bioleaching of Ca and Si ions leachates. The weight loss varied in the range 0.031 – 0.263 mm/yr. Changes in sample morphology and by-products formed were observed by X-ray diffraction and SEM methods. The results of morphologic changes showed the formation of gypsum and ettringite with corrosion progression
Effect of Performance Factors to Increase Company Value
The value of the company is a direct response from investors to the company represented by the stock price. The rise and fall of stock prices in the capital market is an interesting phenomenon to talk about to the issue of fluctuations in the value of the company. Stock prices fell due to the latest sentiment data on manufacturing from China, the United States, and Europe. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index fell 1.2 percent in mid-trade, the index down 4 percent as investors continued to shed shares in emerging markets. The population of this research is 169 annual reports of manufacturing companies that go public and are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in a row in the 2015-2019 period. The results of the study indicate that environmental performance affects firm value. Shareholders' support for environmental concerns has a positive impact on creating corporate value both internally and externally. Internally the value of the company increases through competitive advantage by increasing company profits, increasing sales turnover, lower production costs this is because the company can avoid unexpected costs due to labor, social or environmental contingencies, while externally shareholder support can increase share prices in the company. stock market. Financial performance affects firm value, the increase in company profitability shows better financial performance and better company prospects. Companies that have good prospects are highly favored by investors because they are considered to provide good returns
The Effect of Liquidity Ratio and Activity Ratio on Profit Growth with Company Size, Leverage, and Return on Assets as Control Variables in Coal Mining Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange
This study aims to analyze the effect of the liquidity ratio (current ratio) and activity ratio (total asset turnover) on profit growth with firm size, leverage, and return on assets as control variables. The population in this study are mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2015-2019 period. The data used in this study is the financial statements of mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The analytical method used is the quantitative method, while the analytical technique used is panel data linear regression, and partial hypothesis testing using t-test. The results showed that the results of the F test on the variable current ratio (CR) and total asset turnover had a significant positive effect on profit growth. The results of the t-test indicate that the current ratio (CR) and total asset turnover have a significant positive effect on profit growth. This study supports the results of research conducted by Suyono (2020) which states that the liquidity ratio (current ratio) has a significant effect on profit growth
Enforcement of Property Related Taxes Defaulters Using Information Systems: The Case of Tanzania
Tax Evasion and delayed payments of property-related taxes are problems facing revenue departments in many governments all over the world resulting in low revenues collection from this source of revenue. Although the laws in African countries seem to provide adequate enforcement measures, some of them are politically unacceptable and therefore are not used in practice. This paper focuses on designing Information and Communication technology mechanisms for enforcing property-related tax defaulters. An application prototype has been developed to implement the designed mechanism. The data on existing information systems used in the administration and collection of property-related taxes were collected through face-to-face interviews with systems administrators in each sector involved. The collected data were modeled using Unified Modeling Language and the Design Science Research approach was used to aid the design of the proposed enforcement mechanism. The results show that property-related tax defaulters are automatically denied electricity service until all tax arrears are settled
Estimating and Mapping of Net Migration in the Midlands (United Kingdom) Between the Period of 1911-1921
The spatial distribution of population in both national and international perspectives play a significant role in determining demographic and economic situations in all countries of the world. Therefore, net migration has a more complex set of features involving the redistribution of a different component of the population with different reasons for migration. This study uses data collected from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) United Kingdom to demonstrate the method of areal interpolation by using polygon as a tool of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), to estimate net migration in the Midlands between 1911 and 1921. By considering the male population aged between 18 and 25 years. The results revealed that certain types of employment which include agriculture has the highest correlation value (r = 0.08), light industry (r = 0.16), staple industry ( r = 0.15), and service industry (r = 0.16), these types of employment tend to attract more people to either coming into or going out of a population of an area, hence, its results to the movement of people from one place to another
The Study of Soil Quality Indicators in Ibiono Ibom Area, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria
Soil assessment of Ibiono Ibom area of Akwa Ibom State was carried out using morphological, physical and chemical properties. Undisturbed samples were collected using core cylinder samplers at different depths and disturbed samples were also collected from the genetic horizon of the soil profiles in Ikot User and Ibiaku Osuk areas. Soil profiles were described using the standard soil description in the USDA 1978/1999 system. Physical and chemical parameters were analyzed using standard laboratory procedures. Data obtained from the study were analyzed and results showed that saturated hydraulic conductivity ranged from 0.00 – 89.10 cm/hr. Bulk density, particle density and total porosity ranged from 1.20 – 1.66g/cm3, 1.50 – 3.07 g/cm3 and 19.8 – 56.7% respectively. Textures were generally sand to loamy sand. The impact of texture with bulk density and porosity enhances the performances of plants in the area and are indicative of moderate to high inherent soil quality. Most of the profiles have rapid permeability (mean of 17.03cm/hr and 48.88 cm/hr) and have relatively greater potential to support roots. pH rating varied from extremely acid (pH 4.3) to moderately acid (pH 5.7). Organic carbon content and total nitrogen were low having ranges of 0.0390 – 1.7356% and 0.01 – 0.14% respectively. The available phosphorus content ranged from 9.54 – 27.79 mg/kg and C:N ranged from 2 to 29. The implications of the narrow C: N ratios in some of the soils reflect high levels of microbial activity and rapid decomposition of organic matter with concomitant release of nutrient elements into soil solution for plant uptake
Encryption of Data based on Triple encryption and Affine Algorithm
In recent years in view of the recent scientific and technological development, Encryption has emerged as a solution and is critical in the information security system. To protect the shared data, a variety of techniques are needed. To begin, data must be encrypted before being sent from sender to receiver using a cryptographic algorithm for encryption. Second, the receiver can display the original data using decryption techniques.
Encryption is a well-known method of safeguarding classified information. It is a procedure for converting text or data into an unreadable format for the purpose of hiding this data or is converting plaintext to ciphertext is an operation. In conjunction with an algorithm or a key. The current research focuses on using cryptography to protect data as it is being transmitted, we implemented three encrypt techniques (Caesar-Reversing-zigzag) by combining the three codes called triple encryption for encrypting the message, re-encoding the encrypted text using the affine cipher. The present work is implemented by using Visual Basic 6
The STTELLS Theory: A Motivational Process Theory
STELLS theory is motivational process theory, which encourages the employer to regard the employee as a co-investor in the business, having put into the business Skills, Time, Talents, Efforts, Labour, Life, and Services as investment. On the weight of this fact, the employee should be rewarded commensurately with his/her inputs into the business.
