    Ground Magnetic Study for Characterization of Mineral Potential in Alajawa Area in Shanono, Kano State, of Nigeria

    The ground magnetic survey was carried out using a Scintrex proton precession magnetometer to map out subsurface structures and mineralization potentials at the Alajawa area in Shanon, Kano State. 2D forward modeling was in the delineation of geological structures that are potential mineralization zones. Surfer 15 software was used to produce a residual contour map. A total of five (5) profiles of the magnetic residual anomalies were modeled using Mag2dc software. The mineral potential locations were identified. The major zones with the potential of mineral resources were located at the depth of 14.81m, 1.71m, 10.83m, 14.25m, and 15.38m along profile AA’; 3.42m, 10.01m, 15.95m, 7.41m, and 2.28m along with profile BB’; 20.51m, 11.97m, 2.28m, and 27.35m along with profile CC’; 3.99m, 2.85m, 5.13m, and 6.27m along with profile DD’; 34.76m, 25.64m, 7.98m, and 8.55m along profile EE’. The bodies display susceptibility as high as 5.3380 SI Units and as low as -06.745 SI Units. The results of the research analysis revealed that the subsurface is composed of limestone, sandstone, and shale, granite or rhyolite rocks, gneiss, schist, slate, and quartzite

    Development of QR-code based Interactive Dynamic Billboard System with Motion Detection

                This paper presents the design and implementation of an intelligent Dynamic electronic billboard based on QR-Code (Quick Response Code) that can be used in a variety of interior locations such as offices, malls, universities, supermarkets, and other similar establishments. A screen display, a sensor such as a PIR motion sensor, and a QR-Code reader are all included in the system. Once scanned, the QR-Code should provide rapid access to information. While the motion sensor detects a nearby person and instructs the system to display the QR-Code on the billboard for the person to scan, the display device continues to display the company's products or announcements. The QR-Code contains Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) in our prototype, and once scanned, a user follows the link and begins exploring what he or she needs to see on a display device based on what the companies sell or communicate with the general public. As a result, the system allows users to interact with it by allowing them to search for what they need using QR-Codes. The Raspberry Pi houses the sensors and display device, allowing the system to relay sensory data to a web server using the HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) protocol. Because of its low cost, efficiency, and ease of use, the designed system is beneficial

    Influence of Peer Domain Factors on Substance Use among Female Students at the Nairobi and Thika Campuses of KMTC

    World drug report indicates growing accessibility to substances as a major world trend among ages 15 to 65 years.  Globally, the use of substances by college students of all genders is a challenge and a public health concern. However, many studies on substance use focus on male students. This study had the purpose of assessing the influence of peer domain factors on substance use among female students at Thika and Nairobi campuses of Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC). The study adopted the ecological systems theory. Explanatory sequential mixed methods design (two-phase model) was used to collect quantitative data from participants on the subject; this was followed by the collection of qualitative data through an interview guide to get in-depth insight to help in explaining and elaborating the information gathered from the survey. The study population was 2474 female students. The study used stratified random sampling to select a sample of 344 respondents. Data from female students were gathered using semi-structured questionnaires and an interview guide. The data from the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency distributions, means, and percentages). Additionally, inferential statistics, correlation, and regression analysis were used to test the relationships between the study variables, while data from interviews were subjected to thematic analysis. The emergent findings were used to reinforce the findings from questionnaires. The study results show that that peer domain factors had a significant negative influence on substance use among the female students at KMTC (β= 0.787; p = 0.000). In this regard, the similarity between peers is critical in influencing behavior. Therefore, having peers who do not use substances and having peers who disapprove of substance use is expected to lead to protecting female students from engaging in substance use. The study recommends that KMTC need to implement extensive substance prevention programs targeting female students to reduce risk factors associated with substance use. The preventive programs include guidance and counseling, peer counseling and mentorship programs and, advocacy campaigns. The interviews added that there was a need to establish and finance advocacy programs backed by social media to enhance the dissemination of information on the negative influence of substance use

    Family and Social Acceptance of Transgender Women in the Midst of Stigmatization in Indonesia

    Stigmatization towards transgender women in Indonesia has become more severe that cause them to be more marginalized. They were not only driven out by their families but also rejected by society.. This paper aims to analyze transgender women 's efforts to show their existence so that they can be accepted by the family and society. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach. Data collection was done by in-depth interviews and observations to seven participants at the local level and online data collection to participants at the regional and global levels. The data were analyzed through three stages of data analysis, namely data reduction, data display, and data verification to meet the conclusion. The result shows that transgender women can prove their existence through their socio-economic role so that families and communities have no reason to reject them

    This study was conducted to examine the effect of capital structure and inventory turnover on net income through net sales. This research was conducted in the food and beverage industry listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for 2015 – 2019. This research is a quantitative study with the type of causality research. The sample of this study includes 18 companies selected through the purposive sampling technique. Secondary data collection uses the company's financial statement documentation and other supporting literature. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis, multiple linear regression analysis, and path analysis. The results of this study indicate that the capital structure has no effect on net income through net sale, while inventory turnover has an effect on net income through net sales

    Experimental Study and Comparative Effects of Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) crop residues and effective Microorganisms (EM) on the Fertilizer value of Coffee Pulp Compost

    In order to evaluate the fertilizer potentials of the coffee pulp as compost, three field experiments were set up with bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and potato (Solanum tuberosum L.). To that end, the fresh coffee pulp was composted with accelerators addition. Evaluated treatments in a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with 4 replicates were as follows : T1 = Coffee pulp (CP) alone ; T2 = CP + 1 L molasse + 1 L Effective Microorganisms (EM1) + 37 kg of dolomitic lime ; T3 = CP + 16.75 kg of bean residues (BR1) + 16.75 kg of soil (forest soil) ; T4 = CP + 2 L molasse + 2 L EM2 + 74 kg of dolomitic lime ; T5 = CP + 33.5 kg of bean residues (BR2) + 33.5 kg of soil (forest soil) ; T6 = Farm manure + 1.5 T/ha dolomitic lime + 200 kg/ha DAP+ 100 kg/ha KCl + 50 kg/ha Urea and T7 = Control (non amended/fertilised). In both the bean and the first potato (Victoria variety) experiments, recommended organo-mineral fertilization (T6) was not significantly different from either T4 (CP+EM2) or T5 (CP + BR2).  In the second potato (Mabondo) study, T6 (Farm Manure + 60-90-60) produced significantly higher yields than the other treatments (T7, T6, T5, and T4), which did not show any significant differences among them. Across the three field studies, treatments T4 (CP+EM2) and T5 (CP + BR2) are equivalent and substitutable. Nevertheless, being imported, EM is surely problematic with regard to cost, conservation, and manipulation. In that context, we contend that T5 (CP + BR2) is more accessible to farmers and could be widely adopted as a source of organic fertilizer. We then advance that this compost treatment (T5) is the one to be disseminated as a potential coffee pulp-based source of organic fertilizer in coffee-growing Burundi areas. We further propose to test the minerally-complemented T5 (CP+BR2+mineral fertilizers) against the currently recommended Farm Manure+mineral fertilizer applications for bean (18-46-0) and potato (60-90-60) crops. Such an experimental study would evaluate the substitutability of farm manure by CP compost boosted by bean residues addition

    Investigation of the Effect of Anodizing Dyes Using Purple Cabbage and Dragon Fruit Peel on Aluminum 6061 alloy

    Anodizing on aluminum 6061 was carried out to improve the mechanical properties and aesthetic value of the specimen surface. Anodizing produces a thin, porous oxide layer resulting in hard surface properties and corrosion resistance. The pores resulting from the anodizing process can be used to provide various colors when filled with dyes. Coloring in the anodizing process can be done with chemical dyes or natural dyes. Anodizing using chemical solutions produces waste that can be harmful to the environment. To overcome this pollution problem, a natural dye solution is used using dyes from purple cabbage and dragon fruit peel so that it is expected to minimize the impact of environmental pollution. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of using natural dyes produced from purple cabbage and dragon fruit peel on anodizing aluminum 6061. The investigation is carried out through visual color testing, coating thickness testing, micro-structure testing, and micro Vickers hardness testing. From these results, it was found that the variation in the concentration of the dye solution did not affect the thickness of the resulting oxide layer. The oxide layer and pore size are influenced by temperature, electric current, voltage, solution concentration, and immersion time in the electrolyte solution during the anodizing process. So the factors that greatly influence the diffusion quality of the dye solution are the correct pore size and thickness of the oxide layer so that the dye can adhere perfectly to the surface of the specimen

    The metal-organic supramolecular synthons like {…O–Cu–O–H}2, {…O–C–O–Cu–O–H}2, {…O–C–O–Cu–N–N–H}2, etc., were pointed out by using Cambridge Structural DataBase (CSD) Mining. The present work describes the relationship between magnetic properties and ‘d’ in metal-organic synthons of discussed coordination complexes. The analysis reveals that most of the complexes show ‘J’ value if ‘d’ and Cu…Cu distances are in the range of 2.5 to 2.9 Ǻ and 6.5 to 7.9 Ǻ respectively

    Contributions of Geophysics and Remote Sensing in the Mapping of Hydraulically Active Fractures in the Base Zone West of Kinshasa, DR-Congo

    The hills region is very famous west of Kinshasa, which is why its drinking water supply problems in the municipalities and various districts of NGALIEMA and MONT-NGAFULA, located in an area made up only of crystalline rocks. She is experiencing acute difficulties in accessing water resources. The objectives of this study is to map fracture networks from satellite images and to use electrical resistivity tomography for their location on the ground. The methodological approach used is based on the use of remote sensing techniques for structural lineament mapping and the application of electrical resistivity tomography for the validation of hydraulically active lineaments. The use of techniques of selective principal component analysis and directional spatial filtering of sobel made it possible to establish the map of major lineaments. The validation of the lineaments was made during several geophysical prospecting works of electrical resistivity tomography. The map generated following the processing of satellite images counts 65 linear structures whose size varies from 7 to 41 km and which have two preferential directions N 0 ° - N10 ° and N 80 ° - 90 °.                     At the end of the geophysical work, 10 lineaments were validated as major fractures with altered cracked zone widths ranging from 15 to 40 m and whose depths are beyond 50 m. The range of electrical resistivity characterizing these fractures varies from 100 to 800 Ωm
