    Evaluation of Petroleum Source Rock Using Well Logs in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria

    Petroleum source rock potential evaluation was carried out on eight wells of the Niger Delta’s Agbada Formation by assessing some source parameters from well logs and through well logs analysis based on organic matter effect and relationship on and with well logs. Source rock determinant parameters such as volume of shale (Vsh), total organic content (TOC), and amount of generated hydrocarbon (S2) was derived from well logs following established organic matter effects on well logs using Schlumberger's Techlog 2015 software, while hydrogen index (HI) was calculated using known values of TOC and S2 respectively. Well log data used for the analysis includes GR log, resistivity, sonic and Density logs. Apart from deriving source rock parameters, the well logs were also used to identify, quantify and somewhat determine mature zones of source rock intervals by correlation with TOC, S2, and HI source parameters respectively, Therefore, a source interval criterion composing of high GR log, high resistivity, high sonic and low-Density was developed alongside source rock parameters. Results of the analysis in the area show poor to fair source rock quality rating in terms of TOC, and insufficient source rock thickness fit for sustaining a world-class petroleum province like the ND petroleum province and further depicting that the Agbada FM may not be the principal source rock of the area. It is, therefore, recommended that more elaborate studies covering greater depths of the Agbada FM be carried out in other to properly represent the true source quality of the area

    Machine learning for the prediction and Analysis of Bouguer Gravity anomaly of the Kiri uplift in Congo sedimentary Basin

    Bouguer gravity anomalies (BGA) play an important role in exploration of mineral resources. Allowing the delineation of large geological structures, BGA participate into discovery of the deposits. However, the Kiri uplift region where several oil seeps have been recognized faces sparse coverage of data due to the difficult conditions of data acquisition on the field. This situation increases the non-uniqueness and nonlinearity problems of the solution using inverse methods. Although, potentially good at quantifying uncertainties, inverse approaches involve enormous computational tasks. We used machine-learning algorithms to predict and analyze gravity data in Kiri uplift region. The algorithms learned to perform as a multiple regression. During training steps, each independent variable included X and Y coordinates, digital elevation model (DEM) and geology. BGA values calculated by experts were provided as the dependent variables. K-fold cross-validation has been used ensure the models are well fit. Since the well-trained algorithms should result in small losses and errors, we experimented several optimizers. By comparison, testing results showed that deep neural network-based algorithm (DNN) has proven to be the most efficient with 5.37 Mean Squared Error and 1.75 Mean Absolute Error as model metrics. DNN showed the most accurate prediction, which, together with the measured BGA reported strongest Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.996. In addition, analysis showed that DNN result is one that conforms perfectly to the regional geology information of the study area.     The Impact of the use of E-money on Interest Rates with the Amount of Money Circulation as an Intervening Variable: A case study of Indonesia

    Users of e-money payment instruments in Indonesia continue to experience growth every year. An increase in the need for e-money users to transact, causes an increase in the need for money supply in Indonesia. So that the stability of money circulation needs to be controlled, namely through monetary policy interest rates. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of the use of e-money on interest rate policies in Indonesia, through the money supply as an intervening variable. The study was conducted at Bank Indonesia, using a statistical test model of path analysis. The test results show that the use of e-money has a significant direct effect on interest rates. While the indirect effect tests, shows that the use of e-money through the variable money supply as an intervening variable, has no significant effect

    Overview of Integrated Population Administration Services at the Probolinggo Regency's of Indonesia

    Population administration fulfils administrative rights, such as public services and protection related to population documents, without discriminatory treatment. Population administration is the service of all population documents by the Presidential Regulation concerning the requirements and procedures for population and civil registration. However, public awareness of the importance of population documents is still deficient; economic conditions and the distance of people from their domiciles, especially those in remote areas/difficult areas, so that there are still many residents who do not have population documents. With integrated services carried out by the Population and Civil Registration Office of Probolinggo Regency, it aims to provide more effective, efficient, fast, and complimentary services. This study aims to describe and analyze population administration services integrating birth certificates, family cards, and child identity cards based on minister of Home Affairs Regulation concerning population administration services at the Probolinggo Regency Population and Civil Registration Service and the obstacles in its implementation. This study uses qualitative methods through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis results show that the integrated population administration service has so far been able to adapt to new policies that require using the latest applications in population administration services. More than 1 million residents of Probolinggo Regency who cannot reach population administration service facilities offline and online can be reached and complete the application for population administration and have been facilitated to completion. Besides that, The obstacles faced from the inner side include the policy of refocusing the budget, lack of facilities and infrastructure, and human resources. Meanwhile, the outer side, including the elderly, who lack technology understanding and disabilities, require special officers and internet network disturbance

    Evaluation of Geophysical and Geochemical Characteristics of Soil and Groundwater Resources in Yenagoa Environs, Niger Delta, Nigeria

    The problem of potable water has increased in recent times due to an increase in population density, petroleum exploration activities, and spillages along the creeks. Thus, three (3) Vertical Electrical Soundings (VES) were made using the Schlumberger array in the study location to obtain geophysical data, using the ABEM SAS 1000 terrameter, in order to investigate the occurrence of groundwater in relation to the depth and thickness of the viable aquifer. Six (6) surface water samples and six (6) subsoil samples were obtained from the study area. Both subsoil and surface water samples were analyzed to determine the concentration of contaminants. Analysis was performed using the Atomic Absorption Spectroscope (AAS) method which was compared with the World Health Organization Standard. Results and interpretation of analyses revealed high contaminant contents of lead (Pb) with values of subsoil samples at S2 (18 mg/l) and S6 (8.1302 mg/l), while Mn showed a very high concentration of contaminant values for all subsoil samples which exceeded the WHO permissible standard which indicates that aquifer may likely be polluted by the intrusion. Cr for subsoil samples and Mn of surface water samples are likely within or slightly higher concentration values when compared with the WHO limit. It is advisable to carry out proper water treatment from source and soil degradation, for potable drinking water and cultivation of agricultural products respectively

    Effect of Dust Accumulation on the Performances of Solar Panels in Static and Tracking Systems in Bauchi Metropolis of Nigeria

    The research aimed at comparing the effect of dust accumulation on the performances of solar PV modules in a static position and on a tracking system within the Bauchi metropolis of Nigeria, during the harmattan season – November to December. Dust deposition on the surface of the PV panels reduces the conversion efficiency by absorbing and preventing the Solar radiation from reaching the cells of the panel. This necessitated the need to develop a reliable tool to relate energy production from solar cells with respect to dust deposition on both static and solar tracking PV modules. A test bed was designed for the field measurement of output current, voltage, temperature and dust weight data from the two PV modules.” Centsys” polycrystalline solar panels () were used for the research. A statistical technique involving regression analysis in SPSS software was used to correlate the various measured data from the test bed to predict the effect of dust accumulation on the surface of each module, which will enable solar power installers to take necessary measures for improving the PV module’s conversion efficiency during the period under review. The research result showed that the effect of dust on the tracking solar PV module is less significant compared to the static panel, giving the former a better conversion efficiency.  &nbsp

    Development of Software for Calibration and Testing of Geometric Errors of Low Cost Desktop Publishing (DTP) Scanners

    Scanners have been used as input devices in photogrammetric and cartographic applications mainly for the digitization of aerial images and maps. Photogrammetric scanners are expensive while DeskTop Publishing (DTP) scanners have low prices, and may have good performance and sufficient resolution for the required applications. There are two types of DTP scanners: low-cost DTP scanners and high-cost DTP scanners. The main disadvantage of low-cost DTP scanners is the lack of geometric accuracy and stability. In addition, the scanner vendors rarely provide the users with software for accuracy testing and calibration. This paper emphasizes developing software, called ScanCal, for testing the geometric accuracy and calibration of DTP scanners. An overview of the development and capabilities of the ScanCal software platform based on the Windows system is presented. The developed software was used for testing the geometric accuracy of low-cost DTP scanners. The results show that the low-cost DTP scanners are unsuitable for photogrammetric applications but may be used for GIS-related applications. Furthermore, the results of the developed calibration method show that a geometric accuracy of 4-6 can be achieved. The achieved accuracy opens the door-way for using low-cost DTP scanners for photogrammetric applications

    The Crime of Using Fake Diplomas Conducted by Members of the Regional House of Representatives in Indonesia: A Study

    One of the requirements to become a member of the House of Representatives is to possess a minimum high school diploma so that people who desire to have the certificate try hard to obtain it either legally or illegally. Falsifying certifications is an illegal method giving rise to criminal sanctions, as conducted by Abdul Kadir from Kraksaan Probolinggo. The type of research used in this thesis was normative juridical (legal research) research with statutory and conceptual approaches and qualitative descriptive analysis method. The fact of the use of a fake diploma by the member of the Regional House of Representatives of Probolinggo began with a report made by a Non-Governmental Organization United Community Association to the District Police of Probolinggo for the alleged use of the fake diploma and the indictment and the court decision No.  413/Pid.B/2019/PN where Abdul Kadir Bin Haeri was declared to be proven of guilty of using a fake diploma as stipulated in the Article 69  verse 1 of the Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System

    Rectenna Design for Radio Frequency Wireless Energy Harvesting

    The concept of wireless power transmission (WPT) has been introduced for nearly a century. Some of the achievements made so far have made energy harvesting a reality, capable of providing alternative sources of energy. This paper provides a summary of RF energy harvesting techniques to serve as a guide for designing RF energy harvesting units. Since energy harvesting circuits are designed to operate at relatively small voltages and currents, they rely on the latest electrical technology for high efficiency. Thus, thorough analysis and discussions of the various designs and trade-offs between them are included. Also, we introduce most of the recent applications of radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting. Also in this work, a rectenna, which is a combination between an antenna and a rectifier, with the purpose of energy harvesting, is designed and verified through simulation. The rectenna consists of two main components: the first is a microstrip patch antenna and the second is a rectifying circuit. The microstrip antenna gathers the wireless power, then the received RF power is rectified to DC using the rectifier. In this work, we will design and simulate the microstrip antenna using HFSS software, and the rectifier circuit using ADS software.    &nbsp
