Development and implementation of mapping application program after COVID-19 pandemic in Malang City, of Indonesia
Malang is a city that is very well known for its history and tourism objects. Not only visited by domestic tourists but also many foreign tourists who come to enjoy the beautiful city of Malang. During the Covid-19 pandemic there was a decrease in tourist visits to Malang City by up to 66%. Currently, with various policies related to health protocols, many tourists are starting to return to visit Malang City. To make it easier for tourists to find accommodation in the city of Malang, it is necessary to analyze data on lodging places, facilities, and locations. Then after all the data has been collected, the information will be grouped according to hotel facilities and location, then a hotel mapping application is made with several icons: Malang city map, hotel icon, hotel information data form using MapInfo pro. The hotel mapping application is designed to make it easier for users to search for lodging in the city of Malang, especially in the new normal era after the Covid-19 pandemic.
 
Development of Air Blast Freezer for the Storage of Fruits and Vegetables
The need for the conservation of agricultural produce is highly essential considering the global food crisis. Several methods of fruit and vegetable preservation do not normally conserve the nutritional values of the produce. This led to the development of the Air blast freezer which gives room for the conservation of nutritional and organoleptic values of compatible fruits and vegetables. The system was designed for a cooling capacity of 0.83116KW based on the average ambient temperature of 270C, condensing and evaporating temperatures of 400C and -20C respectively. The system can handle 20 fresh fruits and vegetables or a combination of both. The system, when tested has a coefficient of performance (COP) of 3.55. It is capable of preserving fruit and vegetable samples for 14 days without significant change in the number of nutritional values and the organoleptic condition of the samples
Modification of TRACEr model as a tool in analysing accidents for the oil and gas industry: The TRACEr-OGI
Abstract: Safety the reversed side of an accident, is always an integral requirement of every organisational set up. Hence analysis for accidents classified as essential in any safety critical organisation (Busse 2002). Oil and gas industry as one of the sectors with highest number of accident report has long way trying to adopt several established accidents analysing models to address this aspect. Therefore, this paper critically analyses and adopts one of such models called TRACEr model to fit into the oil and gas industrial accidents. The TRACEr is used for the fact that it appears to have a comprehensive approach to both error prediction and analysis (Stanton et. al 2003). In achieving this, taxonomies of most benefit were adopted while making changes to some key areas. To test the reliability of the new TRACEr OGI, reports on oil and gas accidents scenarios from the IOGP database focussing on Russia and central Asia were used. The new TRACEr OGI has seven levels of taxonomies as opposed to be eight from the main TRACEr. The central change been made at the Cognitive level of the operator context. The result of the analysis for reliability test shows that, there exist a reasonable percentage of correlation for the Human-Machine interface and the task errors in the oil and gas industry
International Marketing Study of Textile Products under the Export Strategies to COMESA
Manufacturing textiles and readymade garments have always been important to Egypt's economy, especially considering the marketing strategies used by composite apparel manufacturers. There is also potential for the implementation of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) & Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA) agreements with small and medium firms in Egypt.
The objective of this study is to develop and formulate effective electronic commerce marketing and export strategies for the textile and apparel sector.
In comparison to traditional commerce, e-commerce allows the user to search online, compare prices of required products, and order merchandise from a single platform. Businesses in developing countries are able to access global markets more easily by using B2B e-commerce to increase the use of e-commerce. Research indicates that e-commerce is important for Egypt and other African countries, highlighting the significance of the field for business applications.
Egypt and Africa also have an excellent opportunity to grow manufacturing exports and become the world's next great manufacturing center as industries depart from China and move to low-cost regions.
After thorough analysis, we have developed policies for the development of textile and garment industries in Egypt in order to formulate and execute it has two major objectives to produce quality products in line with international standards, and also to boost the textile industry in Egypt with effective electronics commerce marketing strategies for cultivating market growth. It consists mainly single web-based electronic platform where buyers and sellers come together to sell their raw material and finished textile products.
Small and medium apparel and textile businesses can use the findings from this research to formulate and implement effective marketing strategies to pursue market growth
Development of Smart Laboratory Information Management System: A Case Study of NMAIST Arusha of Tanzania
Testing Laboratories in Higher Learning institutions of Science, Technology, and Engineering are used by institutional staff, researchers, and external stakeholders in conducting research experiments, analysis, and dissemination of results. However, there exists a challenge in the management of Laboratory operations and processing of Laboratory-based data. Operations carried out in the laboratory at Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, in Arusha, Tanzania, where this case study was carried out, are paper-based. There is no automated way of sample registration as well as identification and researchers are prone to making errors when handling sensitive reagents. Users have to physically visit the laboratory to enquire about available equipment or reagents before borrowing or reserving. Additionally, paper-based forms have to be filled out and handed to the Laboratory Manager for approval. The outlined manual operations make it difficult to keep track of expiry dates of reagents, storage conditions such as temperature, software licenses, tools, data regarding borrowed equipment as well as stock remaining, as they lack automated notification mechanisms. This study, therefore, was carried out to investigate the Development of a Smart Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT), Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for real-time monitoring of sample and reagents storage conditions, including digital sample identification and tracking respectively. A web application was developed to allow remote access to Laboratory information by users. Based on the performance test, it is concluded that Wireless Sensor Networks can be integrated with the Internet of Things to automate recurring tasks in laboratories, aid in monitoring, and eliminate paper-based record keeping
Development of Machine Learning-Based Model for Quality Measurement in Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Services: A Country Level Model for Tanzania
Background: The high maternal and neonatal mortality in developing countries is frequently linked to inadequacies in the quality of maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH) services provided. Quality measurement is among the recommended strategies for quality improvement in MNCH care. Consequently, developing countries require a novel quality measurement approach that can routinely facilitate the measurement and reporting of MNCH care quality. An effective quality measurement approach can enhance quality measurement and improve the quality of MNCH care. This study intends to explore the effectiveness of approaches available for MNCH quality measurement in developing countries. The study further proposes a machine learning-based approach for MNCH quality measurement.
Method: A comprehensive literature search from Pub Med, HINARI, ARDI, and Google Scholar electronic databases was conducted. Also, a search for organizations' websites, including World Health Organization (WHO), USAID's MEASURE Evaluation Project, Engender Health, and Family Planning 2020 (FP2020), was included. A search from databases yielded 324 articles, 32 of which met inclusion criteria. Extracted articles were synthesized and presented.
Findings: The majority of quality measurement approaches are manual and paper-based. Therefore are laborious, time-consuming and prone to human errors. Also, it was observed that most approaches are costly since they require trained data collectors and special data sets for quality measurement. It is further noticed that the complexity of the quality measurement process and extra funds needed to facilitate data collection for quality measurement puts an extra burden on developing countries that always face constraints in health budgets. The study further proposes a machine learning-based approach for measuring MNCH quality. In developing this model, financial and human resource constrain were considered.
Conclusion: The study found a variety of quality assessment approaches available for quality assessment on MNCH in developing countries. However, the majority of the existing approaches are relatively ineffective. Measuring MNCH quality by a machine learning-based approach could be advantageous and establish a much larger evidence base for MNCH health policies for Tanzania
Study of Implementation of Policy of The Regional Development Agency in the Probolinggo Regency of Indonesia
The direction of development that is well planned and dynamic is strongly influenced by the participation of the community and elements in society who are directly or indirectly involved in government administration. By Presidential Decree No.27 of 1980 concerning the Establishment of the agency for Regional Development (ARD) Indonesia and Law no. 25 of 2004 concerning the national development planning system, the Probolinggo Regency Government in carrying out development in the region is first planned so that development can run well as expected. This research aims to describe and analyze the policy implementation of the role of the agency for Regional Development (ARD) in the development planning process in the Probolinggo Regency. This study uses interview analysis techniques in collecting data and answering research problems. The study results indicate the role of the agency for Regional Development (ARD) in implementing policies regarding the development planning in the study region is successfully implemented. However, in its implementation, it has not been able to run optimally to the factors that influence policy implementation
IRS-Assisted OAM-MIMO Communication with Partial Arc Sampling Receiving (PASR) Scheme
Orbital Angular Momentum-based Multiple Inputs Multiple Outputs (OAM-MIMO) Communication has recently been explored in wireless communication to provide an alternative way of multiplexing different orthogonal OAM modes over a common medium and significantly improve reliability, capacity, and energy efficiency. Although the near-field applications of radio vortex have been successfully verified in a near-field line-of-sight scenario, perfect antenna misalignment should be required to maintain orthogonality, which is difficult to be satisfied in a multipath environment consisting of many non-line of sight (NLOS) paths and LOS path. In addition, beam spread and divergence reduce the transmission distance accompanied by large performance degradation, thus requiring a large aperture size receiving for efficient detection of OAM modes. This paper studies the communication performance of OAM-MIMO with the PASR (Partial Aperture Sampling Receiving) scheme by deploying an intelligent reflective surface (IRS) of a large number of reconfigurable passive elements to achieve an intelligent wireless propagation environment through software-controlled reflection and address the above issues and limitations under the Perfect Channel State Information (CSI). We analyze the concepts of PASR and OAM mode selection by preserving orthogonality according to the required aperture scale, and the influence of the Rayleigh and Rician channels on the system performance of IRS-Assisted OAM-MIMO Communication with the PASR scheme in a multipath environment. The simulation results show that the channel capacity for IRS-assisted OAM-MIMO Communication with the PASR scheme is greatly improved compared with IRS-assisted OAM-MIMO Communication, which can meet the performance requirements, and provide insights into the angular aperture needed for efficient (de)-multiplex OAM modes, and performance limit over propagation distance
Statistical Modelling of Factors affecting Performance of Students in Secondary Schools in Tanzania
Over the last decade, secondary schools in Tanzania have failed to produce enough graduates who are able to join higher level of schooling (Advanced level). Only less than 35% of students were able to score between division one and three. The aim of this study was to develop a factor model with factors affecting the overall performance in secondary schools in certificate of secondary national examinations in Tanzania. Data was collected from 26 secondary schools in Dar es salaam and Arusha using self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaires had 16 Likert type questions in five-point scale ranging from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The findings from factor analysis indicated that three factors namely “school culture”, “supportive learning environment “and “teacher satisfaction with the school” explained 74.8 percent of total variation in overall performance in certificate of secondary education examination. Multiple Linear regression revealed that supportive learning environment had a significant effect on overall performance in terms of school Grade Point Average. It is concluded that in order to improve overall performance, schools and the government should create supportive learning environment by employing more teachers, ensuring availability of books are timely and adequately available and the availability of library and laboratories. Further studies should add the qualitative part so as to gather more information about schools and other factors which were not considered under this study
Website Development: The Case of Agricultural Extension Providers in Tanzania
This study examined current practice in websites development among organizations in Tanzania that provide agricultural extension services to smallholder farmers. Google search was used to get a list of respondent organizations. A questionnaire, interviews, and a review of the websites owned by organizations under study were used to collect data. Other than websites, it was found that organizations use manual documents, physical visits, radios, SMSs, TVs, and social networks to disseminate information to smallholder farmers. Websites development was either done in-house or outsourced and the focus was to have websites that cater to the information needs of different stakeholders including smallholder farmers. Information on websites included contacts, announcements, specific information for farmers, with some of the information not directly relating to smallholder farmers. This led websites to contain lots of information which might affect the usability of those websites by smallholder farmers hence not benefiting from the information contained. This was the case for all websites. Also, the involvement of smallholder farmers during website development was low. Websites for agricultural extension providers were developed either in-house or outsourced. The government-owned agency (e-GA), commercial companies, and staff were among developers for the websites. Communication between stakeholders during the development process was easier for in-house development as compared to when websites were developed outside. Websites developed were either internally maintained or maintained outside organizations, with internal maintenance being cheaper compared to when maintenances were done outside organizations. To develop quality websites from smallholder farmers’ point of view their involvement should be high and the websites and the contained information should be easier to access with minimal information. Also, websites should be professionally designed and developed to focus more on the provision of agricultural extension services
