    CFD Study and Investigation of the Critical Ratio for Pressure-Head Ratio inside Drainage Manholes

    The objective of this research is to study the pressure-head rising inside a manhole in pipelines, in relationship with the ratio from manhole diameters to its pipes diameters. The research team adopted CFD to simulate the manhole flows, at different conditions of varying inlet and outlet pipes diameter and manhole diameters. The risk of manhole overflow can also be reduced by controlling how fast is the rate of pressure-head rise per given flow rate. To reduce the peak and rate of rising of pressure-head column inside the manhole to be attained, the ratio between manhole widths (diameter) to its pipe diameter should be taken into considerations. Based on CFD analysis it is found that ratios less than 3 are shown to have better results, producing lower peak values of pressure-head to be attained inside manholes

    Smart System for Controlling and Monitoring Water and Turbidity Levels in Dam Reservoir using Micro-Controller Technology

    A micro-controller-based technology has been developed for monitoring and controlling the water quality and quantity in dam reservoirs by using various sensors. This system is able to automatically detect and measure the changes in water and turbidity levels of incoming water for hydropower production. In this project, an Arduino UNO microcontroller and GSM Technology control the operations of the system through sending messages and regulating automatic water valves according to the instant status of the dam water. The developed prototype has four units: sensing unit, processing unit, displaying unit and alerting unit. In the sensing unit, the ultrasonic sensor continuously monitors the change in water levels and the turbidity sensor takes turbidity measurements of incoming water. In the processing unit, the detected data are collected and fed to the microcontroller for further processing. This technology is expected to reduce the time and cost incurred during the hydropower plant operations by using a small amount of manpower and will facilitate fast information collection.

    Study of Impact of Information Technology On the Organizational Performance of Moroccan Public Higher Education Institutions

    The objective of this paper is to study the relationships between the different variables of the research model using simple regression analyses. To this end, the main research question is: To what extent do contingency factors impact organizational performance in Moroccan higher education institutions? Thus, in order to answer this question, we have mobilized both the literature related to the computerization factor and to organizational performance. As for the hypothesis test carried out on a sample of 82 observations, i.e. a return rate of 51.25, the results were quite different. In this regard, the results obtained through the questionnaire allowed us to note that the relationship between computerization is explained up to 71.6% knowing that the goodness of fit is accepted (R2 = 51.3%), and, therefore, the computerization factor positively impacts the organizational performance of Moroccan higher education institutions

    Women Leadership and Economic Empowerment in Kajiado County, Kenya

    Most organizations have been reporting their inability to achieve the set objectives. Several factors have been pointed out to be the major cause. Apart from other external factors such as adequate finance, political goodwill, and a conducive environment, there seem to be other factors related to intergroup cohesion that affect goal achievement. This study was done in Kajiado County, Kenya and it sought to establish Women's Leadership and Economic Empowerment in Kajiado County, Kenya. The study had four objectives, to establish the influence of policies by women in leadership on economic empowerment, to explore the influence of income-generating programs by women in leadership on economic empowerment, to determine the influence of community capacity building by women in leadership on economic empowerment and to examine the influence of financial support programs by women in leadership on economic empowerment in Kajiado County which is categorized as a marginalized County. The study adopted a simple random sampling method and purposive sampling technique to select the sample size. The sample size comprised residents and community members of productive age between 20 years to 59 years and 14 women political leaders of Kajiado County. The study concluded that policies, income-generating activities, capacity-building programs, and financial support programs by women leaders have a positive and significant influence on economic empowerment in Kajiado County. Women's presence in positions of leadership has seen the formulation of policies and programs that address the economic aspects of women. The study recommended that more women should be integrated into leadership positions so that they can contribute and influence decisions, policies, and programs aimed at enhancing the economic empowerment of the community members. This study is expected to be valuable to researchers and scholars. It will also be of significance to policymakers, the government, and international originations as the study will generate findings that can be relied upon to inform future developments on women's empowerment to leadership positions.&nbsp

    Study of Child-Worth Program Development at East Kutai Regency of Indonesia

    The City or District Appropriate Program is a district or city with a development system based on the children's rights platform through an integrated commitment and energy base of the authorities, citizens, and efforts, which are planned in a comprehensive and sustainable manner in policies, programs, and activities to ensure the fulfillment of children's rights. rights and protecting. One of the districts that perform the children's friendly city program is East Kutai Regency. The 2019 East Kutai explained that the indicators for Child-Friendly Districts had been fulfilled 61% in East Kutai District. However, the implementation is still not running optimally. East Kutai Regency, especially North Sangatta Subdistrict, has not been able to get the Child-friendly Regency/City predicate because it has not been able to achieve a minimum score of 500 points for the Primary Child-friendly Regency/City target. In addition, there are other problems, such as not running a mother's class, lack of guidance in premarital counselling and low immunization achievement. This study used a survey method with 44 respondents, which are children who are in the North Sangatta District as the target of this program. The results of this study indicate that based on the community's response, the program development is categorized as "Good Enough", with a percentage of 58.43%. The reaction with the highest percentage is the availability of clean water networks, which is 85.47% in the "Very Good" category. The lowest rate is public knowledge about the community's existence at 40.5%. Then the dominant factors that occur during this research are individual, technical and resource

    Development of Navigation System for Blind People based on Light Detection and Ranging Technology (LiDAR)

    The use of blind-aided navigating systems has become very essential in the 4th industrial revolution. The essence of this is to improve navigating autonomy for the blind. Although, navigation challenges are not of serious concern to people with eye defects. However, this is a major concern for blind people due to the time-consuming navigation process. These limitations necessitate the use of walking sticks, dogs, or people to navigate their path. This project provides a blind navigation system based on Light Detection and Ranging Based Navigation System for Blind People (LiDAR). The components of this fabricated device involve a charging system, a LiDAR sensor, a microcontroller, a calling stick, two buzzers, a switch vibration motor with an RF transmitter, and a receiver to give object detection and real-time assistance to the blind. The mode of its operation is by detecting obstacles along the route of a blind person and giving a notification via the buzzer and the vibration motor. Also, during emergencies, the buzzer rings and informs the visually impaired person using the device. On the other hand, the microcontroller and other modules in the device have a continuous ongoing relationship which is beneficial to the user.  Another appreciable benefit of this device is the ability to recharge the battery component, the device is of low-cost, quick, simple-to-use, and novel solution for the blind

    E-Formation Policy in Developing the Need for Civil Servants in the Probolinggo Regency of Indonesia

    Based on the regulations, the preparation of employee needs is carried out using an electronic application. E-Formation from the rationale to speed up the administrative process and ensure the accuracy of data related to job maps, number of employees, employee placement positions, allocation of shortages and excess employees. In preparing formation requirements, civil servants in every Ministry, State Institution and Government Agency, both central and local, are required to use this system, and the deadline for completing the e-formation is according to the schedule determined by the centre. This study aims to describe: the implementation of civil servant formation through e-formation in the Probolinggo Regency and the supporting and inhibiting factors with the implementation of civil servant formation through e-formation in the Probolinggo Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The results of the study show: The Probolinggo Regency Government has implemented a Government policy that prepares civil servant formation requirements using an e-formation application based on job maps, job analysis and workload analysis contained in the regent's Regulation. However, with the simplification of the bureaucracy and the equalization of structural positions to available positions, the Probolinggo Regency Government should re-evaluate the Regent's Regulation; and In carrying out the preparation of civil servant formation needs, it is necessary to have support from the leadership in Probolinggo Regency to overcome inhibiting factors such as budget allocation, increasing the competence of formation builders, mutation/transfer of employees and delegation of tasks/responsibilities

    Agro - Meteorological data Collection using a LoRaWAN - Based IoT Sensor Network

    Generally, the variation of meteorological conditions has a significant influence on the agriculture sector in general. In Tanzania, the study conducted in 2015 found most of the existing automatic meteorological stations are not working, and the surveyed manual meteorological stations record meteorological data in the cards daily, but cards are sent in a month to month time interval to the respective organs, this makes the concept of early warning difficulty. Therefore having near real-time meteorological data will enable the crop monitoring and forecasting systems to monitor crop development and provide early warning to the farmers and the government. The advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT) offers possibilities for developing an integrated sensors network to collect meteorological data on a near-real-time basis. In this study, the developed integrated sensor network includes sensors, which record remote meteorological data such as rainfall, humidity and temperature, a communication network, and a web application that enhance data visualization in both graphical and tabular format. In the communication system, the LoRa technology was used, which is more preferable compared to other Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies such as NB-IoT and Sigfox for this application. The developed system uses the LoRa Gateway Operating system which provides capabilities to build a private network, and make it more cost-efficient by reducing the operation cost for account subscription, in online platforms such as The Things Network (TTN), ThingPark, ThingSpeak, and Loriot to avoid free accounts limitations. Moreover, the developed system can work in remote areas with limited Internet access as the meteorological stations can communicate with the gateway at a distance of up to 25 km.  

    Incorporating Environmental Protection Requirement in Industrial IoT Access Control Security Using Arduino Technology MQ2 and DHT11 Sensor Networks

    This paper presents the development of environmental monitoring mechanism based on Arduino Sensor Technology for Industrial Internet of Things (Industrial IoT) Critical Infrastructure (CI) Protection in an Access Control role. Access control of hazardous substances is one of the most vulnerable aspects of Industrial IoT CI.  The idea behind this study is to harden environmental security through live ecological monitoring of Temperature, Humidity and emitted hazardous substances or gases due to Industrial activities and processes in Smart CI places such as Nuclear Processing Plant, Thermal Generation Power Industries, Fossil Processing Plant, Military Chemical warfare plant, food processing factory, Agriculture Chemical Manufacturing Plant and many other CI industries. Live monitoring is one of the most important security requirements for any cyber-Access Control Mechanism.  The literature revealed that similar systems were developed and implemented in different organizations and with different System Requirements and specifications. However, most CI industries have not automated environmental monitoring requirements and integrated the requirement into a broad institution security continuum. The consequence of neglecting environmental security is climate change. Furthermore, Toxic gas pollution affects millions of people around the world and contributes to about 5.4 percent of deaths worldwide. Pollution kills more people than the combination of malaria, AIDS, and tuberculosis hence the development of security mechanisms to monitor pollutants in the atmosphere.  The main objective of this study was to develop a computer-based application for monitoring environmental hazardous substances such as extreme temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and Smoke in the atmosphere surrounding Industrial IoT CI Industries. The system development approach employed was the Arduino engineering process model. To achieve this objective, cheaper ecological sensor Networks that include MQ2 and DHT11 Arduino Sensors are connected to Arduino Uno Microcontroller through a solderless breadboard Arduino component. The backend database was MySQL Relational database management system. The developed prototype application produced a number of results including live monitoring of temperature, humidity, CO2, CO, Smoke, and many others. A system evaluation process was conducted and the result indicated 99.999% accuracy levels. The results, it evidence that the developed prototype application can improve environmental security in Industrial IoT CI institutions

    Determinants of the Rate of Procurement Practices on Disposal of Assets in Kenya's Public Sector: A Case of the Judiciary

    Disposal of unwanted assets to the Public is an important aspect of procurement and store management in many organizations. When equipment is in surplus or obsolete, keeping it through maintenance, parking, insurance or storage may lead to exceeding the recoverable amount which can be the result of continued use of the equipment. In Kenya, the public sector has certain disposal guidelines and procedures as stated in the Public Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005, and the Public Procurement and Disposal Regulations, 2006. The PPDA applies to all procurement of works, goods, and services, and also, the disposal of assets by all public entities. Disposal of assets in the Public sector is complex due to the multiple interests from various stakeholders against a backdrop of the objectives it tries to achieve amidst various regulatory bodies or policies which are supposed to be observed. The main goal of this research was to make an assessment on the determinants of the rate of procurement and disposal of the assets in Kenya’s public institutions, a case of the Judiciary. However, the objectives were used in determining the influence of procurement planning on the disposal of assets; determine how accounting and financial risks affect the disposal of the assets, and identifying the effects of the management methods chosen on the rate of disposal of assets. The study adopted a descriptive study design with a case-study approach to the Judiciary. For purposes of this study, the population of interest was 101 respondents from the Judiciary, which included the department heads, deputies, the disposal committees, and procurement and disposal staff. The study adopted a census sampling technique. The collection of primary data was done using a questionnaire research method The findings show that procurement planning, financial and accounting risks, and choice of management methods affected the rate of assets disposal in the Judiciary to a large extent, It also revealed issues such as corruption, political interference, non-adherence to the PPDA provisions, and PPOA inefficiency as impediments to assets disposal effectiveness and further the study also revealed that the legal framework and regulations had an impact on the relationship between determinants of the rate of procurement and disposal of the assets. The study recommended that The Judiciary’s procurement department should consider scaling up efforts and work with diligence in stemming out corrupt officers, and ensure total adherence to set PPDA procedures; include strict disposal procurement planning and adopt the well-researched choice of management methods; allocate resources for update training to the procurement and finance staff, and properly explain stakeholders’ limits and roles when dealing with assets disposal and adopt a proactive and stringent approach
