Topological Descriptors and QSPR Models of Drugs used in Blood Cancer

    No full text
In this article, we used M-polynomials to investigate the rela-tionships between topological indices and physicochemical properties of some blood cancer treatment drugs; we used the curvilinear regression method on drugs like azacitidine, buslfan, and mercaptopurine, among others. This article also includes M-polynomial proofs of the closed form of some topological indices of said drugs. The study could be a new at-tempt to improve QSPR model prediction analysis by utilizing the afore-mentioned molecular descriptors, which are used to investigate chemical, medical, and pharmacological properties. Finally, this work demonstrates that topological descriptors can be acornerstone to designing and synthe-size new blood cancer treatments and other disease drugs

E-government websites are essential and effective modes of communication between governments and citizens and provide access to E-government services. Thus, information quality of these websites is vital and worth assessing in order to ensure their effectiveness. This study assessed the information quality indicators of egovernment websites in Pakistan as perceived by political science undergraduate students through a quantitative survey. This sample of students was selected because they are more likely to have used e-government websites to access information and/or receive services compared to other social science students. All the participants were 18 or more years old and computer literate. Data was collected through Kandari, Jones, Nah, and Bishu (2011) questionnaire adopted with minor changes. It had nine information quality indicators such as accessibility, authority, consistency, understandability, reliability, objectivity, navigation and efficiency; consisted of 21 statements. Respondents preferred to the point information on the websites along withproper and credible ownership for proprietary information. They also opined thatinformation on e- government websites add value to their knowledge. Findingsrevealed that ‗accessibility‘, ‗authority‘, and ‗consistent and concise‘ were the top three indicators rated more than 4 on a 5-point Likert Scale. Overall, findings indicate a reasonably high information quality for Pakistani E-government websites as perceived by students. Findings will have implications relevant to user-centered design of E-government websites with respect to information quality

Therefore, this study aims at investigating the impact of organizational politics on work engagement, citizenship behaviors and turnover intention. The data from 226 employees working in the banking sector on the basis of convenience sampling was collected and SPSS was used to analyze the data. The objective was to dislodge Houthi tribesmen who had taken over eastern parts of Yemen. This military campaign persists till date in one form or the other. The Yemeni tribal feuds are ancient and perennial. How did they catapult into a regional conflagration? Saudi Arabia alleges that the Houthis receive backing from Iran. This situates the Yemen crisis within the Saudi-Iranian geopolitical competition. The geopolitical aspect pertains to the regional balance of power, and the aspect of geopolitical alliances. Another implication of the meltdown of the Yemeni state relates to the future of democracy as a model of governance, in view of rising sectarianism in the region

Reasons and Victims of Honour Killing in Pakistan: An Analysis

    No full text
Honour killing in Pakistan is a very critical issue which is being echoed throughout the world. Parallel to it are the governmental claims that this issue has been addressed, by enhancing the representation in the legislature assemblies and by the strict and hard laws in this regard. However, this problem is the deeply rooted in socio-economic and cultural values and traditions of the country. The supporters of such values are sitting in the lawmaking bodies and openly support such negative practices. They have kept the doors open in the legal and judicial system for the escape of the offenders. Overwhelming majority of the victims are women of the remote rural areas, while the offenders are, mainly, the husbands, fathers or brothers. The reasons of this cruel practice, as found in this study are related to the alleged extra marital relations of the women (which never proved) or exercise of the choice of marriage by the victims, and very rarely the disputes of the property. Majority of the crimes remained unregistered, hence no question of the trial or the punishment. Major hindrances in the improvement of lack of women education, poverty, poor implementation system of law, poor grip/writ of the government in the remote rural areas of the country

Pakistan’s Water Crisis and Indus River System: Revisiting National Security

    No full text
Pakistan has become water scarce and is ranked 8th most vulnerable country to the effects of Climate Change. Pakistan is water based economy, where about 91.6% of water is consumed in agricultural sector. The entire reliance is on Indus River System which is fed by rainfalls and glacial melt. There are constant disagreements among provinces on availability of water. Water entitlements to provinces are higher than actual availability based on the assumption that by then more dams would be built. Serious tensions on water flows into Eastern Rivers have evolved between Pakistan and India despite of Indus Water Treaty. This treaty fails to address division of shortages in dry season and cumulative impact of storages on Chenab into Pakistan. For almost six decades Pakistan and India have smoothly sailed through the tough times but now with growing tensions and other conflicts water is foremost in bilateral relations. India is using water as a toll against Pakistan exploiting its upper riparian status. Water assumes the status of national Security concern requiring immediate attention and resolution as Pakistan faces both inter-state and intra-state water crises
