Enhancing the Practices of Tissue Culture Banana among Marginal Farmers of Bihar
Banana cultivation is the main agricultural practice in Bihar and is predominantly grown by smallscale farmers both as a household food security and as a source of income throughout the year. Bananaplantation in this geographical niche is highly infested with various diseases and melody is aggravated bytraditional practices of planting material. Plant tissue culture method is one stop solution to culminate variousdiseases and increase yield capacity, which are biggest threats of the conventional farmers. Despite thecommercialization of banana tissue culture in India over the past few decades, its adoption is very slow in Bihar.In the present study, the problems of cultivating of tissue cultured banana have been highlighted. It has beenobserved that lack of farmer friendly policies are main reason for slow adoption of banana cultivation in Bihar.Henceforth it is suggested that the farmers should be encourage to adopt tissue culture technology to get higheryield and commercial value for their produce. Meanwhile, this will prove to be a great opportunity for selfemployment, which is the need of time
Access to Information and Communication Technologies Service Delivery among Extension Agents of Gombe State, Nigeria
This study examined the access of Information and Communication Technologies(ICTs) in agricultural extension service delivery by extension agents of Gombe State, Nigeria.Specifically, the socio-economic characteristics along with the various types of ICT facilitiesused by the respondents were identified and described, and their accessibility determined. Datawere collected from 79 agricultural extension agents in the state using structured questionnaireand were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results revealed that majority (73.61%) of therespondents were male whose age ranges from 50-59 years and majority (95.84%) had tertiaryeducation certificate which ease their understanding and utilization of ICT facilities. The typesand most accessed ICT facilities used to obtained agricultural information in the area were radio,television and GSM/handset. Moreover, extension agents who belong to social associations hadeasy access to new inventions hosted by ICTs than their non-members counterparts and arecapable of acquiring the ICT facilities needed for their optimum operations since they have anaverage income of N75,097/month. The regression analysis reveals that respondents’ income,work experience, membership of association, access to ICT facilities and educational level werestatistically significant and positively affect the use of ICT in extension service delivery. Themajor constraints militating against effective use of ICT facilities in the extension centers werelack of interactive communication, low access to internet connected computers, erratic andunstable power supply, lack of opportunity to ask questions, inadequate research materials andpublications as this could have negative impact on agricultural operations. The study recommendsamong others that both government and non-governmental organizations should always organizetraining workshops on the use of ICT facilities in agricultural extension. Extension agents shouldbe encouraged to join agricultural associations, as participation in these associations increasesusage of ICT facilities for effective extension service delivery
ASSESSMENT OF LIVELIHOOD STRATEGIES AND INCOME DISTRIBUTION PATTERN AMONG FARMERS IN ADAMAWA STATE, NIGERIA
: This study assesses the livelihood strategies and income distribution pattern offood crop farmers in Adamawa State, Nigeria. The objective of the study was to examine thesocio-economic characteristics of food crop famers and to analyze their income distributionpattern. A multistage random sampling technique was used to select 150 food crop farmers.Structured questionnaire survey was used to obtained data from the respondents in the studyarea. Descriptive statistics (percentages, mean and standard deviation), Line chart, Lorenzcurve and Gini Coefficient was used to analyze the data obtained from the field survey. Thestudy shows that majority 68.7% were full time farmers with average mean of 31 years of ageand about 30.98 years of farming experience. Majority (85.3%) were male farmers and only15.3% of the respondent had no formal education with average land holding of 1.39 hectare.The result reveals standard deviation of 185753.9 and average income of 46400.8 of therespondents. The result from the Gini Coefficient reveals that the overall Gini Index of incomeis 0.53 indicating relatively high income disparity among the respondents in the study area.The study recommended desirable development programs that will boost the income levels ofthe poor farmers for both redistribution and poverty alleviation purposes
The Relevance of Pig Breeds from North Eastern India towards Pork Production- A Review
There are five indigenous pig breeds come from North East India, namely Ghungroo, NiangMegha, Doom, Tenyi Vo and Zovawk. Ghungroo breed matures early, produces more litter under organized farm conditions. Rani, Asha and Lumsniang are the Pig varieties released by ICAR by crossing Hamshire with Ghungroo and Niang Megha. It is established that there is wide genetic diversity among the native indigenous breeds. Analysis of cytochrome B gene in Ghungroo and SLC11A1gene in Doom pigs builds relationship with litter size and natural disease resistance respectively. Organic acid combination and Chayote meal have an influential effect on growth performances in Ghungroo and Zovawk pigs respectively. Skin fold in Ghungroo may sometime plays a predisposing factor for maggot infliction. Artificial Insemination is found to be successful in Ghungroo pig and is propagated to other breeds also. Doom breed is being shown as resistant to piglet diarrhea compared to other breeds.

The Risk Assessment of Fruit Copper Uptake from Soil
The heavy metals uptake from soil into the edible parts of plants represents an important problem, especially if theirtoxicity, non-biodegradability and the ability to be accumulated as the most dangerous characteristics that directly affect theconsumer's health are concerned. The content of heavy metals in soil depends on the characteristic and the type of soil,heavy metals immission, the intake with fertilizers, pesticides, adsorption mechanism and/or fixation, type of fruit sort etc.The aim of the paper is to present the differences in the presence of copper in the soil with different pH values, and thecontent of organic substances and their influence on the copper content in the fresh plum fruits. The results of theconducted studies show that the accumulation of copper from soil into fruit depends not only on the type of soil content butalso on the fruit sort. It can also be generally said that the increase, or the decrease in soil acidity contributes the increase ofcopper accumulation from soil into fruits in particular sorts, but its concentration in fresh plum is very low. 
Effect of Pre and Early Post Emergence Herbicides on the Growth and Yield of Rainfed Greengram
A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Kovilpatti during kharif 2017 to find out the suitable weed management practices for rainfed greengram. In this study, application of Oxyfluorfen @ 0.10 kg a.i. ha-1 or Pendimethalin @ 0.75 kg a.i. ha-1 as pre emergence + application of Imazethapyr @ 50 g a.i. ha-1 as early post emergence on 20 DAS recorded lowest weed density and dry weight at 15, 30 and 45 DAS and resulted in lower weed dry weight, higher weed control efficiency, higher plant height, grain and haulm yield. Unweeded control treatment produced least grain yield due to its maximum crop weed competition. 
ADOPTION OF SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES FOR THE SOCIAL-ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC EQUITY: A REVIEW
There is an urgent need to match food production with increasing world population. However, the struggle to achieve foodsecurity should be carried out keeping in mind the soil and the environment in which the living things survive. The missionof increasing food grain production somehow stands achieved. But it accompanied a series of problems related to theenvironment and natural resources. Sustainable agriculture integrates three main goals. They are environmental health,economic profitability and social-economic equity. Sustainable agriculture is a big challenge and its success lies in newapproach to accomplish the goals of growing crops and raising livestock with minimal environmental pollution. Techniquesin sustainable agriculture are cover cropping, mixed cropping, crop rotation, conservation tillage, making use of microbialinteractions, bio-intensive integrated pest management, aquaponics and integrating livestock and crops. Bio Enriched Feeds: A Promising Feed for Hatchery
The culture of shellfish larvae under controlled hatchery conditions requires not only thedevelopment of specific culture techniques, but in most cases also the production and use of Bioenriched feeds as feed for the developing larvae in hatchery. The present study describes thepreparation techniques currently employed for the culture of the Bio enriched feeds commonly usedin larvae culture, as well as their application potential in terms of their nutritional properties andfeeding methods. MARKETING ANALYSIS OF LEGUMES BY-PRODUCTS USED AS LIVESTOCK FEED IN KANO STATE, NIGERIA
The study focused on the profitability analysis of marketing of legumes by-products usedas livestock feed in Kano State. Multistage sampling technique was used for the study and data wascollected using structured questionnaire supplemented with key informant interview. A total of onehundred and seventy eight (178) legumes by-product marketers were sampled. The analytical toolsemployed included descriptive statistics, net marketing margin analysis and marketing efficiency. Theresult of the socio economic characteristics showed that 12% of the legumes by-products marketerswere adult belonging to the age group of 43-52 years, 51% of them had household size of 1-6 members,43.8% of the legumes by-products marketers had 14-22 years of marketing experience. The result ofthe profitability analysis revealed that legumes by-products marketing was profitable as the marketingmargin for Cowpea haulms and Groundnut haulms were N323.34 and N470 respectively. The totalrevenue realized for the marketing were N1796.67 and N2083.33 for Cowpea haulms and Groundnuthaulms respectively. The result further revealed Gross Margin (GR) of 0.01 and 0.01 for Cowpeahaulms and Groundnut haulms traded in the study area while return per naira invested was found tobe 1.09 and 1.16 accrued from every N1.00 invested for legumes by-products marketing. The result alsorevealed that marketing of legumes by-products was efficient with 254.17% and 306.16% for Cowpeahaulms and Groundnut haulms respectively indicating that marketing of these by-products wasprofitable and efficient in the study area. The study recommended that since legumes by-productmarketing is a profitable enterprise more youth should be encouraged to venture into the enterprisesthis will go a long way in reducing unemployment in the study are
