Progress in Pruning to Vegetable Crops: A Review
: Vegetables are most important constituents of Indian agriculture and nutritional security due totheir short duration, nutritional richness, high yield, economic viability and ability to generate on-farm andoff-farm employment. Our country is blessed with diverse agro-climates with distinct seasons, making itpossible to grow wide array of vegetables. Pruning can encourage faster growth of new shoots, which has thepotential to bloom. Training and Pruning technique deserve attention in yield and quality enhancement ofvegetable crops. CONSTRAINTS IN ADOPTION BEHAVIOUR OF IMPROVED POTATO PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY AMONG THE FARMERS OF MEERUT DISTRICT (UP)
Agriculture is the prime source of all round development of our country, where crop husbandrycontribute significantly towards total economy of our nation. In the context of food requirement of ourburgeoning population, potato is one of the important crop for meeting this demand as a wholesome food. Thepresent study was conducted during 2018-19 in purposively selected area Meerut covering 06 villages and asample of 120 potato growers was selected through proportionate random sampling method. The study revealedthat the major constraints for the adoption potato production technologies faced by the potato growers were Fallin Potato price due to influctations in price (93.33%), Shortage of labour as another constraints (87.50%),middlemen interference in purchase(86.66), high cost of input(46.66) etc. few other constraints were also there
TRAINING NEEDS OF FARMER'S TOWARDS IMPROVED PRODUCTION PRACTICES OF ISABGOL IN JAISALMER DISTRICT OF RAJASTHAN
Isabgol is the main cash crop of the farmers in Jaisalmer district. The farmershaving large land holding size and irrigation facility available by IGNP Cannel and Tube well. Inthe Rabi season most of farmers growing Isbgol as medicinal crops. Mustard as oil seed crops.Wheat as grain crops, Chickpea as pulse crop and Cumin as spices crop. Seed dropping is theserious problem in this area and soil productivity is very low. So many farmers adopted siftingfarming for Isabgol cultivation. Irrigation generally mad by sprinkler. Above 1990 the most offarmer done the main entrepreneur of animal production. For transfer of new agriculturalpractices to the farmers, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Scientist playing major role and trained tofarmers continuously. In this connection the present study was conducted in the Jaisalmer districtto know training needs of farmers and different level of training needs between beneficiaries andnon beneficiary respondents towards improved production practices of Isabgol. In the result ofstudy show that "selection of seed and seed rate". "Irrigation management" and "Harvesting,storage and marketing" is the most needed by the overall categories of the farmers

Oil seed crops generally are one of the most important crops in theworld. Their role in human diet and industrial application cannot be underestimated. The by-products (hull, meal and oil) of oil seed crops had been integratedin to human and animal diets due to its nutrients compositions. Mustard is the maincash crop of the farmers in Karauli district. The farmers having irrigation facilityavailable by tube well and farm ponds. The most of farmers growing Mustard andSesame as oil seed crops, Pearl millet &Wheat as grain crops, and Chickpea aspulse crops. White rust and frost is the serious problem in this area and soilproductivity is medium. So many farmers adopted Line sowing for mustardcultivation. Irrigation generally mad by flood. The most of farmers done the mainentrepreneur of animal production with the agriculture. For transfer of newagricultural practices to the farmers, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Scientist playing majorrole and trained to farmers continuously. In this connection the present study wasconducted in the Karauli district to know training needs of farmers and differentlevel of training needs between beneficiaries and non beneficiary respondentstowards improved production practices of Mustard. In the result of study show thatthe highest training needs was expressed about “Intercultural operations and weedmanagement” "selection of seed and seed rate" and "Plant protection measures" isthe most needed by the overall categories of the farmers
A Study on Effectiveness Level of Various Information Delivery Methods Used by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) in East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya
The present study entitled „„Role of Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) in information disseminationin East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya”. The study was conducted in Mylliem and Mawphlang blocks of East KhasiHills District of Meghalaya. A total of 120 respondents from 12 villages were randomly selected and data were collectedand analysed by using appropriate statistical tools. According to the response from the respondents and after analysis ofdata, the level of effectiveness of various information delivery methods used by ATMA was found to be medium(46.66%). It was also found that variables like age, gender, education, occupation, farming experience, extension contact,innovativeness and risk orientation have a positively significantly correlation with the level of effectiveness. Whilevariables like, annual income and mass media exposure have a positively non-significant correlation with the level ofeffectiveness of the information delivery methods used by ATMA
Map Manipulation for Rice Soil Fertility Classification of the Mekong Delta, Vietnam
In Vietnam, the Mekong Delta is the most importance region for rice production. Nowadays, the crops intensification andthe exploitation of the soil for rice production, which led to soil degradation. Since, it is necessary to evaluate anddelineate rice soil fertility for proper use. In addition, the development of GIS technology, which makes mapping anddelineating easier. The delineation soil fertility classes were conducted together with the suggestion and recommendationfor proper uses depending on identified soil constraints. The collection of soil morphology, chemical and physical dataanalysis within the Delta. Soil map of soil of the delated was also collected for converting soil map legend classified byWRB (World Reference Based) system into soil fertility map classified by FCC system. Soil constraints for suitable usesand managements were also recommended. The study results show that Mekong Delta has 35 FCC soil fertility types.Eleven (11) soil constraints for cultivation were also identified, it is most from acid sulfate soils (ASS), and saline soils(SS); including Slightly acid (a-), Strongly acid (a), High P fixation and high Fe toxicity potential (i), Low available P (p),Strongly actual ASS (c), Slightly actual ASS (c-), Shallow potential ASS (f) Deep potential ASS (f-), Slight salinity (s-),Strongly salinity (s), Ability low supply mineral (k), Ability low nutrient retention (e), Low organic carbon content (o)
A Study on Impact of Socio-Economic Features on Committing Crime
The present investigation “A Study on Impact of Socio-Economic features on committingCrime” was carried out at Naini Central Jail, Prayagraj. A questionnaire consisting of around 40questions was prepared to examine the Impact of Socio-Economic features (age, caste, type of family,occupational status, monthly income & education) on the prisoners for committing crime. Hence, it hasbeen concluded that Lack of education, wide spread poverty, lack of work opportunities, all provide a lotof unsupervised time and conducive environment to the youth by encouraging them to get involved ineasy and illegal ways of earning money or fulfilling their desires. A positive and educative environment,socio-economic support from Government can altogether catalyse a diminished criminal activity
Constraints Faced by the Respondents in Recommended Fertilizer Management under Soil Health Card Scheme in Baldirai Block of Sultanpur District
Agriculture in India has a significant history and it is still lifeline of Indian economy.Agricultural sector accounted for 16.6% of the GDP in 2009 and its economic contribution toIndia's GDP is steadily declining with the country's broad-based economic growth. Still,agriculture is demographically the broadest economic sector and plays a significant role inthe overall socio-economic fabric of India. Over 66 years since its independence, India hasmade quadrupled progress towards food-grain production. Prior to the mid-1960s India reliedon imports and food aid to meet domestic requirements. However, two years of severedrought in 1965 and 1966 convinced India to reform its agricultural policy and adoptedsignificant policy reforms focused on the goal of food grain self-sufficiency. This ushered inIndia's Green Revolution and it began with the decision to adopt superior yielding, diseaseresistant varieties in combination with better farming knowledge to improve productivity.India's arable land area of 159.7 million hectares (394.6 million acres) is the second largest inthe world, after the United States. Food security, nutritional security, profitability andsustainability are the main principles of present and future agricultural development. With thesteady rise in human and livestock population, pressure on soils for enhancing the foodproduction has been mounting geometrically. Impact of Climate Variability on Crop Production in Marathwada Region of Maharashtra
This study has been undertaken to examine the impact of climate variables onagricultural production in Marathwada region of Maharashtra, one of the major agrarianstate which has adversely affected agriculture and nearly 82% area of state which fall underrainfed sector, is under severe stress. Nearly 52% of state area is drought prone with districtshaving a frequent unequal distribution of rainfall every 5 years and severe drought conditionsfor once in every decade. Out of 36 districts in Maharashtra, 21 are facing drought accordingto simulation studies. Variations in climatic variables affect the performance of crops andinduce shifts in cropping pattern. The present paper aims at understanding climatic variabilityin Marathwada region of Maharashtra. The cropping pattern of Maharashtra has shiftedtowards pulses and cash crops like cotton from the earlier cereal-centric system. Cotton andsoybean in the Marathwada shows high instability in yield. Impact of climatic variables oncrops like cotton, sorghum, soybean, and red gram has also been estimated and we found thatthe variables like rainfall and square of rainfall have significant impact on yield of respectivecrops. On the other hand, minimum temperature has significant impact on cottonand sorghum yields and maximum temperature has significant impact on cotton, and redgram yield. 
Constraints Faced by the Participants in Farm Schools of West Garo Hills District, Meghalaya
: The Farm School concept was recommended by the National Commission on Farmers, to beorganized in the field of an outstanding farmer. Farm Schools has been started in Meghalaya, underATMA. The present study was conducted in the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, considering that it isone of the first districts where Farm Schools have been set up. Rongram and Dalu Blocks were selectedusing purposive sampling.The participants responded that they are not able to implement the technology taught in the Farm Schoolsdue to its cost, some respondents do not find some teachings as profitable and so on.
