Study of Genetical Components Determining Vegetative, Flowering and Seed Parameters in Dogflower (Antirrhinum majus L.)
Field experiment was conducted to elucidate the genetical components forvegetative, flowering and seed characters following Vr-Wr graphical analysis. The studywas carried out in half diallel mating system excluding reciprocals involved 10 inbreds and45 hybrids were developed by crossing inbreds in one direction. The F1s were evaluatedduring 2016-17 and 2017-18 for some of the floricultural important traits. Additive anddominant genetic components were found significant for plant height, number of primarybranches, leaf area index, days taken to flowering, diameter of spike, length of spike, daystaken to seed ripening, number of seeds/pod and weight of seeds/pod in both years exceptnumber of leaves/plant. However, the dominant genetic component was more in magnitudeas compared to additive genetic component. It indicates that dominant genetic variancewas more important than additive genetic variance in determining all the characters exceptnumber of leaves/plant. 
DEVELOPMENT OF TRACTOR DRAWN ELECTRONIC MULTI-CROP PLANTER CUM FERTILIZER APPLICATOR FOR PRECISION FARMING
Electronic planter work with a sensor based battery operated metering system,which adds precision to the work. The sensor system in the machine helps in proper meteringof the seeds and thus further reduces the losses. A tractor drawn electronic multi cropelectronic planter cum fertilizer applicator was fabricated at Department of Farm Machineryand Power Engineering, CAET, Anand Agricultural University. The developed planter mainlyconsists of the seed and metering plates and shafts, seed hopper, fertilizer box and electroniccomponents to control seed rate. The sensor system in the machine helps in proper metering ofthe seeds and thus further reduces the losses. The seed rate was controlled easily with the rpmcontroller and can be used for a variety of seeds with the change in seed metering plates. Theplanter was tested and the field observation such as theoretical and effective field capacity,field efficiency, power requirement, fuel consumption, draft, wheel slip and cost of operationwas studied. 
Adoption of Improved Marigold Production Practices in Chaka Block of Prayagraj District in Uttar Pradesh
This study was carried out in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh in one selected block. The studyaims to assess the adoption level of marigold growers about recommended marigold cultivation technology.One hundred twenty respondents were selected randomly who were practicing marigold cultivation wereinterviewed to collect the primary data. The collected data were analyzed with the help of suitable statisticaltechniques to draw appropriate conclusions. The study reveals that the majority of the respondents werehaving medium overall level of adoption regarding recommended marigold production technology.Educational status and income were found positive correlation with the adoption of the improved marigoldproduction practices
ENTERPRENEURIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF DAIRY ENTREPRENEURS IN KALAHANDI DISTRICT OF ODISHA
The present study entitled “Factors Influencing Development of Dairy entrepreneurship inKalahandi District of Odisha” focused on factors responsible for development of dairy entrepreneurship. Forthis study Kalahandi District of Odisha state was purposively selected. The list of dairy agri-entrepreneurswere collected from the different sources like wise Krishi vigyan Kendra, line departments of agriculture,Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, OMFED or Odisha State Co-Operative Milk FederationLtd, Agricultural Technology Management Agency, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.From this list of agri-entrepreneurs, twenty respondents were selected randomly from each agri-basedenterprise; hence the sample size was 120. It was noted that maximum respondents have their ownenterprises and most of them received training. It was also noted maximum entrepreneurial had less than fiveyears of entrepreneurial experience. Respondents also have high level of planning orientation, productionorientation and medium level of marketing orientation. Annual income of respondents was positively andsignificantly correlated with the variable entrepreneurial experience and land holding. 
Effect of Pretreatment and Packaging Materials on Quality of Spinach Powder During Storage
he study was conducted at School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, ShobhitUniversity, Gangoh, Saharanpur, U.P. to evaluate the effect of control sample (unblanched) spinachleaves and hot water blanched sample on shelf-life of spinach powder and to evaluate the effect of watertreatments, chemical composition such as moisture content, fat content and ash content were carried out.Sensory analysis of colour, texture, aroma and overall acceptability were carried out according to 9 pointhedonic scale. To evaluate the shelf-life of spinach powder packed in High Density Polyethylene (HDPE),Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and Poly propylene (PP) packaging materials, Total plate count (TPC)and yeast & mould counts were carried out. The results showed that unblanched sample was moresuitable according to fat and ash content. For moisture content hot water blanched sample was morefavourate. PP excelled than HDPE and LDPE as a packaging material to store spinach powder for a longperiod of time. According to sensory score, hot water blanched sample was more favourate by the panelistthan unblanched sample. With increase in storage period TPC and yeast & mould increased but hot waterblanched sample showed less growth of TPC and yeast & mould when compared to unblanched sample.PP showed less microbial count than the HDPE and LDPE, so it is most suitable for spinach powderpackaging for a long period of tim
STUDIES ON EFFECT OF MULCHING ON SOIL MICROBIAL POPULATION IN ACID LIME (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle)
An experiment was conducted at Fruit Research Farm, College of Horticultureand Forestry, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh to study the effects of organic and inorganicmulching on soil microbial population in acid lime using Randomized Block Design. Thestudy revealed that the microbial population of the soil was found to be highly significant. Thehighest microbial population count for bacteria was observed in paddy straw mulch (83.45 ×105 cfu/g) followed by rice husk mulch (74.88 × 105 cfu/g) and minimum was found in control(14.06 × 105cfu/g). Likewise, the highest microbial population count for fungi was observed inrice husk mulch (119.34 ×105 cfu/g)followed by paddy straw mulch (54.77 ×105 cfu/g). System of Wheat Intensification Study using Hydroponically raised Wheat Seedling – A New Approach towards Farmer’s Welfare
: Wheat is 3rd most consumed crop in India after Rice and Maize. Its production is a source ofemployment for a major part of the country. Inspite of having such high demand Wheat Cultivatingfarmers faces problems like unavailability of irrigation water, poor survival rate, higher diseaseinfestation, poor yields and unhealthy crop. In view of the same System of Wheat intensification (SWI) wasexpected to come out as a possible solution to these problems. In year 2017, Ayurvet Research Foundation,Chidana had conducted a field trial in which Hydroponically (soil- less method of raising crops) raised 8-day old Wheat seedling was transplanted through principle of SWI (through which fixed distance ismaintained between 2 consecutive seedlings which facilitates proper root development and better yields). 4treatments were practiced through which spacing of 10X10cm, 15X15cm and 20X20cm was maintained.Results showed direct yield gain of 18% (2311.1kg/acre) and 13% (2229.3kg/acre) in 10X10cm and 15X15cm spacing as compared to conventional broadcasting method (1956.4kg/acre). The reason for not soconvincing performance of 20X20cm spacing (1766.25kg/acre) was lower plant population though thehighest seed weight of 32.5gm was recorded in 20X20cm treatment.SWI is an efficient technology and can be of great help in doubling farmer’s income. It had reducedweeding, use of pesticides and insecticides. Huge amount of water was saved because of the use ofhydroponically raised Wheat seedling, germination rate was higher, survival rate was higher and thenutritive content of the seeds was way better than the conventional Wheat seeds.Keywords: System of Wheat Intensification (SWI); Hydroponics; soil less technology; System of RiceIntensification (SRI); plant to plant spacing. 
Feasibility and Prospects of Robotics in Agriculture: A Review
Achievement of a sustained and equitable development is the main goal of any production and planning system.To keep up with the increasing human population and with the available arable lands, more food production will have to beachieved over the next 50 years. Agriculture and its allied sectors depend simultaneously on both the exploitation andconservation of natural resources. Their impacts on the environment need to be reduced such that it can continue to developsustainable production systems. However, this is rarely achieved. In most of the hilly areas of developing countries, theresources essential to these sectors are threatened by rapid population growth, extreme poverty, loss of biodiversity,pollution of air and water, soil toxicity. In western countries, the adoption of robotics technology has already initiated. Infuture agricultural scenario, it is envisaged that this new and latest technology holds the key to new farming systems toincrease yields and generate income while improving sustainability. Swarm of robots have the characteristics of beingsimplistic and low cost, so that they can be manufactured and deployed in mass without being overly concerned about theirsurvivability. It is a growing industry being put to use in creative ways. Combined Effect of Rhizobium, Phosphorus Solubilizing Bacteria and Azotobacter Inoculation on Nodulation, Nutrient Uptake and Yield of Chickpea Under Amended Alkali Soil
A field experiment on chickpea (Cicer arietinum) was conducted for threeconsecutive years to study and evaluate the effect of symbiotic N2 fixing bacteria (Rhizobia)with and without symbiotic N2 fixer (Azotobacter) and P solubilizing bacteria an chickpeagrain yield, crude protein content, N, P uptake as also changes in chemical characteristics ofamended alkali soil. The treatment comprised of 8 treatments i.e. T1 control with noinoculation T2, Azotobacter inoculation T3 P.S.B. inoculation, T4 Rhizobia, inoculation, T5Rhizobium +PSB, T6 Rhizobium + Azotobacter T7 Azotobacter + PSB, T8 Rhizobium +PSB+ Azotobacter. Three years observation clearly revealed significantly high nodulationand grain yield were recorded in combined inoculation treatment (Rhizobium +PSB+Azotobacter). Even seed inoculation with Rhizobium and PSB alone, could significantlyincrease the nodule dry weight plant–1and grain yield of chickpea. Similar observations wererecorded in terms of crude protein and uptake of nutrients (N and P). Combined inoculationof chickpea seeds not only increased crop yield significantly but improved soil property interm of pHs ECe dsm–1) and ESP.
