Incidence and Host Preference of Brinjal Hadda Beetle Epilachna vigintioctopunctata (Fabricius) (Coccinellidae: Coleoptera) on Different Solanaceous Weed Hosts
Spotted beetle, Epilachna vigintioctopunctata (Fabricius) (Coccinellidae: Coleoptera) is one of themajor defoliators of eggplant leading to heavy economic yield loss. Due to its multiple host range pests occurredthroughout the year. In order to know the alternate hosts of hadda beetle field survey, field susceptibilityevaluation and laboratory host preference of studies conducted to find out preference on different solanaceoushosts during the year 2017-2018. During survey E. vigintioctipunctata recorded on different solanaceous weedhosts viz., Datura metal, Solanum xanthocarpum, Physalis angulata, Solanum nigrum, Solanum torvum andSolanum trilobatum. Survey resulted that high population occurred on weed host during off-season than the cropseasons. The feeding damage and highest population of hadda beetles were recorded in the field was P. angulata(7.94) followed by S. nigrum (2.86), D. metal (1.03), S.trilobatum (1.00) and the lowest population recorded on S.xanthocarpum (0.27) under field condition. The higher laboratory feeding preference of hadda beetle in freechoice test recorded on P. angulata (0.45) followed by S. nigrum (0.25), D. metal (0.21), S.trilobatum (0.16) andthe lowest leaf area consumption recorded on S. xanthocarpum (0.27). In oviposition and orientation assay alsoP. angulata recorded as most preferred crop and least preferred was S. xanthocarpum. 
A Study on the Knowledge and Adoption Level of Pineapple Growers about Improved Management Practices in Dimapur District of Nagaland
The present study entitled ‘‘a study on management practices of pineapple growers in Dimapur district of Nagaland”. Thestudy was conducted in Medziphema block of Dimapur District of Nagaland. A total of 120 respondents from 6 villageswere randomly selected and data were collected and analysed by using appropriate statistical tools. It was found thatmajority (75.83%) of the respondents belonged to the old age group, (above 51 years) , with majority (67.50%) of therespondents having educational attainment up to high-school, majority (52.50%) of the respondents belonged to highfarming experience category, majority (65%) of the respondents belonged to high annual income (more than 3 Lakh), 45per cent of the respondents had farming as their main occupation and only source of income, majority (78.33%),majority(72.50%) of the respondents had media exposure to both mobile and television, majority (56.67%) of therespondents had contact with Extension workers and agents sometimes, most (44.17) of the respondents belonged tomedium level of innovativeness, majority (50%) of the respondents belonged to the medium level of overall-knowledgecategory and most (48.33%) of the respondents had medium level of adoption category. The correlation coefficient ‘r’between the independent factors and adoption level of respondents was found to be positive in terms of age, education,land holding, farming experience, type of house, family size, media exposure, extension contact, innovativeness and levelof knowledge. RESPONSE SURFACE OPTIMIZATION OF ENZYMATIC HYDROLYSIS OF PURPLE RICE (CULTIVATED IN SOC TRANG, VIETNAM) USING AMYLASES AND FORMULATION OF HEALTHY RICE MILK
The purple rice (ST variety) which was cultivated in Soc Trang province, Vietnam was used for this research. The ricestarch was hydrolysed by two-step enzymatic using α-amylase and gluco-amylase for making rice milk. The effects ofenzyme concentration and time on hydrolysis efficiency (total soluble solid content - TSS) were investigated. The CentralComposite Design and Response Surface Methodology were used for the experimental design and results analysis. Toimprove the quality of rice milk, the effect of five formulations mixture with various milks on sensory attributes andnutritional content were measured. The method of Principle Component Analysis and Check-all-that-apply analysis wereapplied. The results showed that the optimum enzyme concentration and time ofα-amylase (0.149% and 57 minutes) andgluco-amylase (0.143% and 40.94 minutes) hydrolysis were found as R2 were 0.88 and 0.97, respectively. The maximumTSS production at optimum condition was 16%. For purple rice milk production, formula 4 (70% rice milk, 10% soybeanmilk, 12% water caltrop milk and 8% sesame milk) was presented better sensory quality than other formulations. COMPETENCIES NEEDED BY STUDENTS OF TECHNICAL COLLEGES IN DOMESTIC AND INDUSTRIAL INSTALLATION
The study was undertaken to fulfill the need of the future and continuity of domestic andindustrial installation in the society through adequate competency acquisition by technical collegestudents that constitute the main source of workforce in electrical installation on successfulgraduation. It was pertinent to carry out this study since the National Business and TechnicalExamination (NBTE) showed consistent poor performance of students of electrical installationtrade. The study focused on the competencies needed by technical college students of electricalinstallation trade. Two research questions guided the study. A survey research design was adopted.The instrument used was a 58 item questionnaire that elicited information from students on theneeded competencies in domestic and industrial installation. The questionnaire was administeredon the 170 final year students of electrical installation and retrieved by the researcher. Thereliability of the instrument was determined by using Cronbach alpha which yielded 0.84. The datacollected from the respondents were analyzed using a five point scale. The means and standarddeviations were determined and any item that scored 3.50 and above were regarded as being neededby respondents. From the data analyzed, it was found that students require competencies indomestic and industrial installation. Many aspects including carrying out connections of single andpoly phase distribution boards, explaining of working drawings and IEE regulations, installation ofgenerators and electric motors, performing effective earthing and others were found to be neededby students
IMPACT OF NATIONAL WATERSHED DEVELOPMENT PROJECT ON LEVEL OF ADOPTION OF RECOMMENDED PRACTICES IN BLOCK PATHAPATNAM OF SRIKAKULAM DISTRICT OF ANDHRAPRADESH
The study was conducted purposively selected in Pathapatnam block of Srikakulam district ofAndhra Pradesh. Six villages were selected purposively and from each selected village 20 respondents wereselected randomly thus 120 respondents constituted the sample size for present study. Ex-post Facto researchdesign was followed and data was collected by using personal interview method. The collected data weretabulated, analyzed and interpreted with the appropriate statistical tools. Majority of respondents had mediumlevel of knowledge and adoption towards paddy crop production by watershed project. Education, Family Type,Annual Income were found positive and significant correlation with their knowledge and adoption of paddyunder Watershed project. Two types of Respondents were selected from these villages, beneficiaries and nonbeneficiaries of Watershed Project. The major constraints faced by the respondents are Time consumingoperation, Fragmentation of land into unconventional shape, Water stagnation near bunded area etc. Theprominent suggestions given by the respondents were the provision of subsidy for the practices. Govt. shouldencourage co-operative farming, training should be provided for water conservation and input should be madeavailable at proper time to overcome these constraints. 
NITROGEN AND PHOSPHORUS REMOVAL WITH SURFACE RUNOFF FROM DIFFERENT LAND USES- A STUDY IN A SUB CATCHMENT OF UPPER MAHAWELI CATCHMENT AREA IN SRI LANKA
Catchment of the river Mahaweli is the largest watershed in Sri Lanka. There arefour major reservoirs built across river Mahaweli to generate hydropower and to irrigateagricultural lands in dry zone of the country. However, siltation and water qualitydeterioration of reservoirs are major issues when considering their sustainability. Mainagricultural land uses in the Upper Mahaweli Catchment Area (UMCA) are tea plantationsand vegetable farming on terraces in hilly slopes. Most of these terraces are not properlymanaged hence highly vulnerable to soil erosion. Hence, this study was conducted to measuresurface runoff and removal of sediments and plant nutrients from vegetable plots in wellmanaged Terraces (WMT) and Poorly Managed Terraces (PMT), Tea Plantations (TP) andForest Gardens (FG) in a sub catchment of UMCA. Runoff plots were established to measuresurface runoff and sediment loads in different land uses. Water soluble and sediment attachednutrient fractions were quantified. Soil chemical parameters of different land uses were alsoassessed using standard methods. A linear relationship between rainfall and surface runoffwere observed in all tested land uses. The sediment transport rate was higher in vegetable plotson poorly managed terraces followed by well managed vegetable plots, tea land and naturalforest. Nutrient removal with surface runoff was higher in vegetable plots compared to otherland uses. A greater fraction of NO3-N was removed as soluble form from farmlands but inthe case of PO4-P and NH4-N removal of particulate fraction was prominent. Particulatelosses were approximately 15 times higher than the dissolved losses for NH4-N andapproximately 100 times higher than the dissolved losses for PO4-P. In the case of NO3-N,soluble fraction was approximately 1.5 times higher than the particulate losses. Resultsconclude that, greater amount of nutrients and sediments are transported from vegetable plotson poorly managed terraces. Hence, proper maintenance of vegetable growing terracescoupled with effective nutrient management is very important to reduce downstream siltationand nutrient pollution in surface waters. 
Efficacy of Bioagents and Fungicides against Sclerotium rolfsii of Tuberose
Tuberose (Polianthes tuberose L.) is one of the important ornamental crops being cultivatedmainly for its cut and loose flower and oil trade in the tropical and subtropical regions ofIndia. Tuberose is reported to be affected by many diseases of which stem rot caused bySclerotium rolfsii is the most important one in the tuberose growing regions of Tamil Nadu.The commercial cultivation of tuberose has been hampered due to the occurrence of root rot(Das, 1961). Little work has been done on the management of diseases of tuberose. Hence, itis necessary to evaluate bioagents and fungicides in vitro condition to formulate managementstrategy against root rot of tuberose. 
Constraints Faced by Banana Growers in Adoption of Recommended Production Practices in Fakharpur Block of Bahraich District in Uttar Pradesh
India is the largest banana producing nation in the world. Banana is the second important fruit of theworld after apples. Commercial cultivation of banana occurs in about 23 territories in India in hot and temperateconditions. The study was conducted in Fakharpur block of Bahraich district Uttar Pradesh, to understand theconstraints faced by Banana growers regarding improved production practices. From this district, one block werepurposively selected on the basis of large area under banana production, randomly ten villages were selectedpurposively and from each village 12 banana growers were selected randomly for this study. The frequency andpercentage of each constraint were worked out to measure the constraint encountered by the respondents. Themajor constraints faced by respondents were non- availability of electricity in time, high cost of fertilizer, labourefficiency and other constraints faced by banana growers like, lack of subsidies for the banana tissue cultureplant
ADOPTION BEHAVIOUR OF OKRA GROWERS IN ARAJILINE BLOCK OF VARANASI DISTRICT IN UTTAR PRADESH
The present study entitled “Adoption Behaviour of okra growers in Arajiline block ofVaranasi district in Uttar Pradesh.” was carried out during the year 2018-19 in 20 selected villagesof Arajiline blocks of Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh state. A total of 120 respondents wereselected and interviewed randomly from a list of Okra growers to collect the primary data on thebasis of objectives and variables of the study. Further, the data was tabulated and analysedstatistically to draw appropriate conclusions. It was found that most of the okra growers hadmarginal size of land holding (less than 1 ha) and were involved in agriculture (okra cultivation) asthe principal occupation with an annual income between Rs. 30,000 to Rs.50,000. Majority of therespondents had medium level of exposure to various sources of information for acquiring theinformation about okra production technology amongst the information sources. However, overalllow level of contact with extension personnel were observed among the respondents. The findingsof the study revealed that the majority of the okra growers had medium level of knowledgeregarding recommended okra production technology. In respect of the correlation analysis, thevariables land holding, organizational participation and annual income were found to have nonsignificant relationship with adoption at 0.005 per cent level of significance. However, the variableseducation, size of family, social participation, annual income, knowledge, source of informationand extension contact were found to be significant in correlation with adoption behavior
EXTENT OF ADOPTION OF RECOMMENDED FERTILIZER MANAGEMENT UNDER SOIL HEALTH CARD SCHEME IN BALDIRAI BLOCK OF SULTANPUR DISTRICT
Injudicious and haphazard use of chemical fertilizer in agriculture is amatter of concern in recent times. To avoid deterioration of soil in long run and visualizingthe importance of balance nutrient in crop production. The soil health card (SHC) providessoil health data to get appropriate guidance to the farmers for the efficient use of fertilizerto cultivate crops based on soil health analysis. The SHC is a simple document, whichcontains useful data on soil based on chemical analysis of the soil to describe soil health interms of its nutrient availability and its physical and chemical properties. The soil healthcard is made available online also for the farmers. To understand the feelings of thefarmers against this system, there is an urgent need to study the degree of positive ornegative disposition associated with farmer towards the usefulness and application of soilhealth card. Thus the present study on farmers’ perception regarding soil health card wasundertaken. The study was conducted in Sultanpur district with 120 soil health cardholders. The findings revealed that majority of the farmers were having knowledge andunderstanding about the utility of soil health card. The findings further reveals thatmaximum number of soil health card holders were having favorable attitude towards soilhealth card followed by less favorable and most favorable attitude towards soil health card.Among constraints, received soil health card after crop harvest was the major constraintfaced by majority of the respondents.
