    KNOWLEDGE LEVEL OF BENEFICIARIES AND NON- BENEFICIARIES TOWARDS MUKHYAMANTRI KRUSI UDYOG YOJNA OF KHORDA DISTRICT OF ODISHA

    The present scenario of India shows a growing rate of unemployment among the youths especially the ruralones and there is a need to create employment for the youth or the future of India. So in order to create employment theneed of the hour is to bring up small scale enterprises. Small scale industries are important because it helps inincreasing employment and economic development of India. It improves the growth of the country by increasing urban andrural growth. To encourage this, the state government of Odisha has started a program named Mukhyamantri KrushiUdyog Yojna in order to create employment through small enterprises. Hence the present study was undertaken to findout the relation of knowledge on MKUY with respect to socio-economic status of beneficiaries of Khurdha district ofOdisha. The study revealed that Majority of beneficiaries (70.00%) had medium level of Knowledge followed by high(20%) to low level (10.00%) of knowledge while majority of non- beneficiaries (60.00%) had low level of Knowledge levelfollowed by medium (28.33%) to high level (11.67%).&nbsp

    Mechanism and Engineering of Polyamines on Growth, Regeneration and Callus Formation in Gracilaria corticata and G. verrucosa (Rhodophycea)

    he role of Polyamines (PAs) has an important role on growth, regeneration andcallus formation in Gracilaria corticata and G. verrucosa. The influence of differentconcentration of polyamines such as spermine, putrescine and spermidine enriched culture mediawas used during in vitro culture. Amongst different concentration of polyamines enriched media,spermine 10-6M enriched f/2 medium influences maximum number of vegetative branches and acallus (disorganized cell mass that arose from the organized tissue of the explant) formation.Although regeneration was observed in putrescine and spermidine supplemented enriched mediabut the speed of regeneration and growth was slow in compared to spermine. The simultaneousformation of filamentous outgrowth was observed at the cut ends of explants. These filamentousoutgrowths later developed several vegetative branches cultured in different concentration ofpolyamines enriched media. The explants taken from the basal portion of the thallus showedmaximum number of regeneration of vegetative branches compared to the apical portion. In G.corticata, some embryoids like structure (cystocarps) were observed in spermine 10-6M enrichedPES medium. However, growth of cystocarps in G. verrucosa was observed on the surface ofexplants cultured in spermine 10-6M supplemented f/2 medium after 21 days of inoculation.Complete plantlet of G. corticata and G. verrucosa along with several branches was grownsuccessfully in spermine supplemented enriched f/2 medium after 2 months of culture. The colorof plantlets was bushy and quite similar to that of field material in appearance

    EFFECT OF SOME PRE SOWING TREATMENT ON GERMINATION OF DATE PALM (Phoenix dactylifera)

    Phoenix Dactylifera is a dioecious plants belonging to the family Arecaceae consisting ofmore than 2000 genera and over 2000 species (Diaz et Al, 2003) the plant is distributedthroughout the drier and semi desert region of the world extending from north west Africaand Asia. Seed dormancy is a trait that prevents germination when condition is suitable forgermination. A field experiment was carry out at nursery of the faculty of agriculture BayeroUniversity, Kano to assess the effect of pre sowing treatment on germination of Date palam(Phoenix Dactylifera) under four different treatment (Hot water, Concentrated sulphuricacid, water at room temperature, and control) with varying of time soaking in (Hot water) at5minutes, 10minutes, 15minutes.Acid at 3minutes, 5minutes and 8minutes, water at roomtemperature at 12hours, 24hours and 36 hours. Giving 4 treatment combinations laid out incompletely randomize design with 4 replications. Germination rate was recorded highest inacid for 3minutes and hot water at 15minutes throughout the experiment. Acid at 8minutesdid not germinated this mean that the acid probably kills the seed embryo that is why did notgerminate. In term of hot water and water room temperature germination increase withincrease in time of soaking seed dormancy is among the major problem of date palmcultivation and such need to be tackle in a causative term to meet global food demand.&nbsp

    Effect of Different Concentrations of Calcium Silicate on the in vitro Rooting of Date Palm Shoots cv. Sewi

    : The current study focused on the effect of different concentrations of CalciumSilicate (CaSiO3), Fe-EDTA and thiamine HCL added to culture medium at theappropriate subculture during rooting stage in order to get rapid and satisfied adventitiousrooting and subsequently increase the survival percentage of the acclimatized plants in thegreenhouse. This work describes the major advances of morphological and physiologicaldifferences in date palm plantlets Sewi cultivar with different concentrations of calciumsilicate during the in vitro rooting stage. Four treatments of CaSiO3 were tested throughbeing added to MS medium at the concentrations 0, 2, 4, 8, and 16 mg/l with 0.1 mg/l NAAand 0.5 mg/l GA3. The results showed that medium containing 2.0 mg/l and 4.0 mg/lCaSiO3 promoted the plantlets development as well as the highest rooting.Supplementation of culture medium with 4.0 mg/l CaSiO3, 0.1 mg/l NAA, 0.5 mg/l GA3, 35g/l sucrose, 0.15 g/l Fe-EDTA and 2.5 mg/l Thiamine HCL with ½ MS basal medium for 8weeks of subculture significantly increased length of the plantlets and improvement ofroots. There was an increase in levels of chlorophyll a, b and in addition to total proteincontent in the presence of calcium silicate.&nbsp

    “IMPACT OF KVK TRAININGS ON KNOWLEDGE OF PADDY GROWERS” CASES FROM SRIKAKULAM DISTRICT OF ANDHRA PRADESH

    The impact of training programmes of KVK, Srikakulam that consists of trained and untrainedrespondents of paddy growers, knowledge is the cognitive component of individuals mind and plays an importantrole convert as well as overt behaviour and individuals with a grater knowledge of technical nature of improvedpractices, and the study was conducted under KVK, Amadalavalasa, in srikakulam district. The data werecollected through personal interview method using structured schedule. The Expost facto research design wasemployed in the present investigation. Most of the trained paddy growers had an equal percentage of medium(43.33%) and high (43.33%) level of knowledge, followed by low (13.34%) level of knowledge. More than half ofthe untrained paddy growers (58.33%) had medium level of knowledge, followed by low (26.67%) and high (15%)level of knowledge. In comparison with untrained paddy growers, trained paddy growers had high level ofknowledge regarding the new techniques and practices, scientific methods and newly released varieties

    Drip irrigation systems have the highest potential water application efficiency of the irrigationsystem used in commercial vegetable production. Drip irrigation is a tool to reduce water use, increasefertilizer efficiency and improve profit, while simultaneously reducing the potential risk to the environmentdue to enrichment of surface and groundwater. This research was conducted to evaluate the crop productionin vegetable crops; the experiment should be conducted in the dry season to evaluate the effectiveness of dripirrigation on traditional vegetable production. Hence the present study was undertaken to find out theknowledge level of the drip irrigation farmers towards improved drip irrigation system technology withrespect of socio-economic profile of the farmer of Gajapathinagaram block of vizianagaram district AndhraPradesh. The study revealed that most of the respondents (53.33%) had medium level of knowledge followedby low (11.67%) and high (35%) & respondents (40%) had High level of adoption followed by medium(38.33%) and low (21.67%)

    TECHNOLOGICAL GAP IN RECOMMENDED CULTIVATION PRACTICES OF POTATO GROWERS IN EAST KHASI HILLS DISTRICT OF MEGHALAYA

    This study has been conducted to find out the technological gap in recommended cultivation practicesof the potato growers in order to understand the extent of the difference between the traditional and nontraditional practices practiced by the local farmers in the district. The aforementioned study was conducted inEast Khasi Hills district in the year 2020. A descriptive research designed was applied for this study. The primarydata was collected from 120 respondents by personal interview method using pre-structure interview schedule.After the analysis of the data, it was observed that, maximum number of the respondents (38.30%) were havingmedium level of extension contact and majority of the potato growers (58.00 %) belonged to high level of over-alltechnological gap category. It indicates that a sum number of the population had incorporated the newtechnologies while others have still yet to adopt and use the new recommended potato cultivation. The socioeconomic variables associated with the respondents, such as age, land holding, education, annual income andmass media exposure, extension contact and personal contact were negatively and significantly associated withthe overall technological gap. The above results compel the research and extension system to work on the gapsand negative relationship in a pragmatic way

Agriculture is most vulnerable to climate change.Perception of farmers is opinion of the farmers how they understand and interpret climate change. Though theFarmers’ were aware about climate change, their perception totally varies from others. And farmers play majorrole in agriculture and it is necessary to know their perceptions. Hence, the present study was conducted in 2019-2020 to find out the perception of farmers on climate change in Chevella block of Rangareddy district,Telangana. Total 120 respondents from 6 villages were selected randomly.     Effect of Herbicides and their Mixtures on Broad Leaf Weeds and Yield of Wheat

    A field study was conducted at Agronomy Research Farm of CCS HaryanaAgricultural University, Hisar during Rabi season of 2016-17. The experiment comprised offive post emergence herbicides (metsulfuron, carfentrazone, 2, 4-D Ester, pyroxsulam andhalauxifen) and their mixtures at different doses along with weedy check and weed freetreatment. Application of halauxifen + pyroxsulam sprayed at 23.96 g/ha at 35 days aftersowing was the most effective treatment to control the broad leaf weeds in wheat with higherweed control efficiency. Application of the herbicides halauxifen + pyroxsulam at 23.96 g/ha,metsulfuron + 2, 4-D Ester at (3 + 500 g/ha) and halauxifen + pyroxsulam at 19.17 g/hasignificantly increased the dry matter accumulation of wheat and plant height compared toweedy check. Application of halauxifen + pyroxsulam at 23.96 kg/ha, metsulfuron + 2, 4-DEster at 3 + 500 g/ha and carfentrazone + 2, 4-D Ester at 15 + 500 g/ha resulted into highernumber of tillers per meter row length. Halauxifen + pyroxsulam sprayed at 23.96 g/ha at 35days after sowing resulted into higher grain yield of 5395 kg/ha, straw yield of 8466 kg/haand biological yield of 13861 kg/ha followed by metsulfuron + 2, 4-D Ester at 3 + 500 g/haand carfentrazone + 2, 4-D Ester at 15 + 500 g/h

The effects of stress may be manifested in the form of mood swings, anxiety, change in sleep patterns,changes in appetite, fatigue, loss of interest in family, friends and hobbies, dependence on alcohol. Stress canaffect family and social life. Agribusiness professionals should play a key role in helping mental healthspecialists find the reasons underlying farming stress. Farmers should be made aware of the physical,behavioural, emotional and cognitive symptoms of stress. Farmers should avoid unnecessary stress by learninghow to say ‘no’, altering the stress situation, adapting to stressor by changing self, trying not to control theuncontrollable, spending time with family, going for a task. Farmers should be connected to well-wishing andclose people, aware of people around them, do regular physical exercises, develop new interests, and showkindness and do good deeds for someone in need
